Makes sense, they kept that original relaunched range going way too long when everyone else was going lightweight, then just closed it down completely for a few years. Don’t blame him in the slightest!

When Peavey bought TE they also took on Paul Stevens who was one of the Trace design engineers near the end of the Gibson era, so they did originally have some Trace dna. Don’t think they do any more though haha

Fair enough, understand that viewpoint too but I just see it as a way for Peavy to get a bigger slice of the bass amp market with a renowned brand. They make a big deal about it sounding like Trace of old, but people seem to hear with their eyes and the lack of graphic EQ means it can’t possibly do so…

For me, it's the same argument as is Seat really Seat, or is it just VW... Sure, it's not the same company it was but the brand exists still and that is OK by me

I concur with @DiMarco @stewblack and @Lozz196 I think that’s why I love the Ashdown OriginAL. Once you understand the best way to set it up, it’s very reactive to different basses and playing styles. I suspect these will have some of that there too, given the number of players involved in beta testing; let’s hope so eh?!

Have to say the drive channel sounds better there, it’s got a lot more control than some of the earlier videos were showing. I like a small bit of grit in my tone at all times, so having the ability to blend it with a clean is very much up my street

Again, Class D is solid state… but I guess you mean class A/B with a hefty toroidal transformer in an old school psu. In which case, that’s exactly the sort of thing I want, and am considering making a weird hybrid with the OriginAL preamp mated to an ABM psu and power amp If GK bring something out, all the better!

The pedal is really intriguing, @eude and I are hatching a plan to go check them out as soon as Andertons has stock. The 500W head was intriguing too, until I realised it’s 4cm wider than the Barefaced One10 in its horizontal config. Can’t be doing with overhang 😅

Thanks These are Newtone hex cores, 130 B string. It’s not too bad at all, good tension and tone. It wouldn’t compete with a 37” scale B but the construction of the bass helps immensely in the solidity of the B
