  1. Looking forward to it! Shameless plug, a few tickets still available here: Katy Hurt Sheffield
  2. 16th Nov for me in that London. 30 years eh. Madness.
  3. Would the East MM preamps fit? https://www.east-uk.com/product-category/mm-style/?v=79cba1185463
  4. This is Super 12, the predecessor to the “Gen 3” Super Twin. Great cabs, glwts!
  5. Yep he’d be on my list if he didn’t have a full order book! We almost did a 32” 4 string P two years ago, but it ended up being a 5 string J shape with single P pickup 😅
  6. Have tried to avoid buying anything this year but failed dismally with the full abstinence… For me, hands down the best purchase was the Handbox WB100 I picked up in the summer. Worst… some strings which have ended up all ha ing a dead E. Gave up my experimentation and moved straight back to Newtone.
  7. Shit. Blown tyre halfway to Wolverhampton. Tyre repair kits are f***ing useless. 4 hours from phoning roadside assistance to having the tyre fitted. Missed the gig entirely. Thankfully we had someone who knew the set at the gig who could stand in. Missed this:
  8. One day you need to own an ACG. They are the dog’s danglies
  9. Wow, that is a spec and a half! Bargain for the options you’ve got, and frankly ACGs are the best playing basses I’ve ever had. GLWTS!
  10. Gorgeous bass, top notch fella
  11. Looks cool but it’s worrying when the spec at the bottom of the page has no bearing on the amp. 3 band BMT EQ….?? 😅
  12. I concur. I currently have 3, and will have a 4th arriving in 2025 because I’m a massive tart GLWTS @essexbasscat this is a lovely bass!
  13. How’s yer back? 😆 Bet that sounds phenomenal - nice find!
  14. Maybe he’s time travelling 😃
  15. Oooh I bet this is a stonkingly good little combo!
  16. Gorgeous bass; terribly sad circumstances. All the best for a quick sale x
  17. Having two amps was a godsend at the weekend (see “How Was Your Gig Last Night” thread if you care that much, it’s not that interesting!) though I must confess my two basses were wildly different so it could have been fun - 4 string fretted and 5 string fretless…. But I bet 80-90% of the audience wouldn’t notice…
  18. 20 years ago I was playing a gig when the strap button failed on my bass. That was embarrassing enough because, without a spare, I had to stand awkwardly to play the remaining 2 songs. Guess what I did in the first chorus of the first song? Broke a string. Never again. PS: I did forget a strap once since then though, that was quite special of me.
  19. I’d be inclined to drive to Epsom to get this if you’re in Sussex!
  20. I’ve used an Elf with a Two10 on many occasions and it’s superb. It can hold its own with a band but would want PA support if you get loud
  21. Barefaced Super Twin, which it’s fair to say helped the situation with the Elf!
  22. Kings Arms. Thankfully they’d managed to clean up and it was fine yesterday!
  23. I am currently viewing it less as the HB has let me down and more that I just need to treat it as a special to which needs special care. Will see if that theory is correct when I power it up shortly! But yes the Elf yes again showing it’s superb!
  24. Hot, sweaty pub rock covers last night in Dorking. Load in and out was potentially painful due to the road being closed (burst water main) but we found a work around. Found the first half of the evening stressful with the stage area being chaos - everything had just been dumped on it without any thought as to the most sensible approach to setting up a band. Once that was sorted the singer was getting tetchy about her IEMs, and then we started noticing an odd high pitched noise coming from my bass rig. Turns out the Handbox is super susceptible to noisy power, whether that was the fault of the pub or the LED lights we had running off the same ring main I’m not sure. A power conditioner is clearly in my future… So I switched to my Elf back up, cursing the fact that I’d *almost* put my TE1200 in the car but decided against it. But the Elf was fine, did a sterling job. The band was under rehearsed in all honesty- our second guitarist had switched to drums after the drummer moved north, and our first guitarist is currently unable to play due to a hand injury. We found a cool dep who learnt all the songs in 3 weeks, but two full band rehearsals for this weird new version of the band wasn’t quite enough for us all to bed in. We all played pretty well to be fair but we also all made some heinous mistakes! (Hopefully there isn’t any video of No One Knows 😂) All in all a fun night in the end, now to drop the PA back to its home and check my Handbox isn’t suddenly noisy at home as well… can’t decide if I’d prefer to buy a power conditioner or new valve set 😆
  25. Gigged my Elf last night for a 2.5 hour hot, sweaty pub gig because the power in the pub was making my Handbox make some weird noises a it’s obviously susceptible to noise sadly so power conditioner is on the cards… The Elf didn’t put a foot wrong. Quiet as a mouse when not playing, plenty of volume and heft with all the different patches on my HX effects. Lots of really nice compliments from the audience including a recent ACM graduate who told me my tone was “perfect”, “crushing” (it was a rock covers band so this is good!) and “exactly what he tries to achieve”. I caught him googling both the Trace and Barefaced options in our break 🤣 So, can’t the Elf hang with a band for a long hot gig? Yes. Was a worried about it at all? No. 😎
