  1. OK I'll play! IN: Ashdown B-Social Ashdown OriginAL and a deposit on a new ACG (that's the biggie, it'll be the most expensive bass I've ever bought and will be glorious) OUT: Ashdown CTM100 Barefaced Four10
  2. I may be wrong but I think the LB DI is pre-volume control so you can DI to the recording set up without worrying about the cab making noise. Keep it plugged in, obviously, but keep the volume control down.
  3. Half rounds are a dream. The warmth of the flat with just a little more zing if you require. Reminds me I have a set for my Finn, must get them on there.
  4. Agreed. I suspect my wife is glad I can't afford this right now or I'd be adding to my collection 🤣
  5. I’m in between Ashdown (Essex) and Barefaced (Sussex), am I like their devil offspring? Eww. 😂
  6. Yep, Ashdown+Barefaced=Magic Even with me playing bass.
  7. Love it
  8. Great rig!
  9. I auditioned for a band once and they had this song on the list. I asked which version - "The original, it's so much better" was the reply. Imagine my horror when they actually meant the mid-80s version. Thankfully by that point in the audition I'd realised the band wasn't for me so I played an interpretation of Neil's line. (They didn't notice as the guitarists were too busy trying to out-shred each other through EVERYTHING hence my decision...)
  10. Agreed - and helped along by the bassline from @neilmurraybass of course. The version from the mid ‘80s is horrible, no groove.
  11. Also PM’d, just in case y’know 🤣
  12. PS if this is related to the one FS in the classifieds then, damn you. I was out at the pub and missed it 😂
  13. It will be absolutely fine yes Most solid state Ashdown heads (ie the ABM and RM ranges you mentioned, not the valve range) have a minimum impedance of 4 ohms, so a pair at 6ohms is perfectly fine.
  14. Green light means signal level is OK, it will turn red if you’re clipping the input On the RM heads I have made the input clip and it’s not as successful in terms of tone. I always nudge the input gain down a smidge from getting the red clip led going. The ABM preamp in comparison just seems to like being driven hard.
  15. I push mine into the red most of the time too. Just sounds bloody great like that to my ears. Worry not sir
  16. 🤣 Only one in order, though if I could it would be 5 at least 😁 You might be more partial to the new one though, it’s a bit of a departure for Alan in some respects
  17. Me agreeing with Luke wasn’t aimed at you, it was at the fact the thread seems to have grown arms and legs. That’s what Luke was getting at, as I read it anyway All in all I agree that all you want is a little explanation and a small (in comparison to the whole cost) recompense for the remedial work needed. It could and should have been a far simpler process for you
  18. Yes, yes it has!
  19. Yep my ACG Skelf has a reverse 1+4 headstock
  20. I love box sets where you get maybe one demo version of some/all album tracks, B-sides, some live rarities and maybe demos of songs which didn't make the cut because it gives you a glimpse into the wider processes in the creation of the album. But that maybe means one or two extra CDs/LPs, no more than that...
  21. Sorry to read this As others have said you make this forum a lively, fun place I hope things pick up for you soon sir
  22. Correct, it’s an ABY so I can either run into the effects from my Line 6 G30 or via a cable, means no messing around with unplugging things which I’ve had to do mid-gig before when I had a dodgy set of batteries in the wireless pack.
  23. That was a substantially more eloquent (and probably less red-wine-influenced) response than mine!
  24. The mismatched drivers thing can be like pissing in the dark; you won't know unless you try. Could work, could be awful. But, you will be able to drive each speaker with its own independent amplifier, which means you can EQ them differently and then potentially avoid some (not all) of the pitfalls of mismatched drivers. A better plan would be to keep them both and then get an extension cab for each (matched to each), then you have LOADS of options
  25. I'm sure his will help even more... the clean OriginAL through my Little Bastard is quite the thing. I'll try to demo that too
