  1. PS - I think I actually prefer the aesthetic of the Legacy heads as it barks back to the classic GK heads of old. The Fusion S heads are very dark, though I suspect the light up controls will be a thing of beauty
  2. I am going to have to make a hugely concerted effort to stay away from retailers which stock these next year. Apart from the Ashdown RM series which I adore, my old GK MB Fusion was the best class D head I’ve used - I’d rather not allow my head to be turned again as my five amp heads currently owner is already four too many for the amount of gigs I do 🤣
  3. He’s touring with Feeder at the moment so you may not get an immediate reply Gotta say I do like the one @Sibob posted earlier, it’s sexy
  4. Lovely bass, I do love an ACG Currently have three in the stable but have a hankering for at least two more. He’s a bad influence on my bank balance is @skelf
  5. Agreed. Dave Green has been more than helpful with servicing my recently-acquired CTM100, even to the point of arranging to ship it back to me as I couldn’t get time off work to go fetch it. Lovely bunch of people, great amps to boot
  6. Thanks for the heads up, really interesting doc!
  7. Depends what you want to do with it. “Best” is subjective I’m afraid. Email Barefaced and give them examples of your playing style and expectations, the sorts of amps you’re considering and they can then point you in a suitable direction.
  8. It’s bizarre isn’t it. I’ve been given the (possibly dubious) role of getting a band together for my work’s Christmas party this year. Dead easy having been in a function band for almost 20 years, but it’s amazing what the management think they can get away with asking. ”Can we do karaoke with you?” ”Can people get up and join in?” (Similar vein to the first one) ”Will you take requests on the night?” ”Can you play {insert completely inappropriate song here}?” ”A tiny portion of a main meal will be fine for 5 musicians and a DJ/soundman hanging out for 10 hours won’t it”
  9. I’ve only ever got laid for being the bass player once. Coz none of the rest of the band stayed for the after party 🤣 As for the striptease of the Zoot... maybe... 😃
  10. Mark at Bass Direct has just been in touch to tell me that LaBella have sent out a replacement out of E strings for me. Superb service
  11. I used an Elf through a single Super Compact, no PA support, in a loud rock band gig a while back. Left my ABM in the car because I was feeling lazy! It coped, albeit with absolutely no headroom left, and sounded pretty good. In the end I decided I needed more headroom so went back to my beloved Ashdown RM heads for my lightweight option. The Elf is a great little thing though
  12. It’s been a week since I noticed and to be fair Mark said he’d sort replacements from LaBella - ultimately BD aren’t at fault here and if they can assist in fixing LaBella’s pink torpedo up then all good Sorry you didn’t have a good experience
  13. Best? Difficult to choose between my three awesome and very differently flavoured custom basses (ACG Finn 5, Zoot Funkmeister 4, Conway Instruments Taranis fretless) Worst? The LaBella strings I recently bought from Bass Direct; both sets had a short rather than medium scale E. Crap!
  14. Depends what you’re wanting to do with the rig really. I’d go for the SC personally as if it’s not loud enough just add another cab. (Then again the Two10 now has the impedance switch, so you could add TWO more of that!) I’d email Barefaced and ask them - give them a bit of detail about your basses, style, bands, preferred tones etc and they’ll be happy to help
  15. Just bought a pedalboard from Andy, it was a dead straightforward deal. He’s a top fella!
  16. Yeah I think if I’d had the patience and time the DP-3X could have come good but the fact that the Vintage Ultra just sounded great almost immediately really sold it for me. Having spent an evening with it at home with headphones I’m sure I made the right choice for me
  17. Took the missus to Andertons today (I know how to show ladies a good time you see), fully expecting to walk away with the Tech 21 DP-3X dUg Pinnick signature pedal. 45 minutes after getting there, 6 pedals and a bored wife later, I walked out with the wonderful Darkglass Vintage Ultra pedal. Didn’t get on with what dUg pedal at all, it reminded me of my SansAmp Bass Driver but I couldn’t get a tone from it that either I or the boss liked. Tried various other toys and narrowed down to the Vintage Microtubes and Vintage Ultra. The Ultra won because of its added versatility with the various switches and active EQ, plus the ability to run clean or distorted. All the videos online show Darkglass to be great for metal (ha!) but this has so much more to offer, I’m really excited about getting to grips with it this week and I think it’ll be a great addition to/replacement for to the SansAmp.
  18. Just joined the Darkglass family. The boss even encouraged me to buy it when I said “I’ll think about it first” after boring her for 45 minutes in Andertons 😎

Careful...she's probably got her eye on an expensive pair of shoes or a handbag now....

I reckon you've just put a noose around your own neck...😉

She bought a new saddle for her horse last week and it was almost as much as my Zoot Funkmeister 😳

I somehow managed to justfy a Vintage Microtubes Ultra V2 from the BC for sale section, so I am also a newly minted Darkglasser.
