Best way to reglue/hold peeling vinyl covering on BAREFACED cabs?
Merton replied to mcnach's topic in Amps and Cabs
Well damn, I hadn’t thought of that 🤣 For full disclosure she was totally aware of my ridiculous thread and thought it was all quite funny 🙂 -

For sale: Eden WT405 £250 collected, or £265 couriered to UK mainland I bought this earlier this year - and promptly ruined any chance of succeeding with the 2019 gear abstinence challenge - with a view to it being a different flavour amp from my various Ashdowns. I’ve had Eden before and decided I needed another in my life, but to be brutally honest I don’t have enough gigs to warrant four amps and, whilst this is a bloody glorious bit of gear, I prefer the Ashdown stuff. So this should go again. It’s in good nick for its age (it has clearly been well looked after by the previous BC owners!) and comes with rack ears and a gig bag. The only things to mention are the gain clip LED never seems to light up and the bass and treble boost lights don’t work either. It has a few small superficial scratches and nicks in the chassis but nothing major at all for a 15 year old amp. Other than that it’s stonking and if I could justify keeping it purely for home use with headphone, I would, but that’s a waste of its talents. No trades please.

Probably. Maybe they do and I’ve misrepresented them. I’m just recalling a conversation I had when my second cab arrived last month -

I mentioned this on another thread, the chaps at Barefaced have recently changed their glue AND their tolex to a different brand. The original glue we can all agree was shite and after a few years they came to the same conclusion about the tolex. When left in warm environments the old tolex would shrink, and coupled with the crap glue caused the problems people encountered. The glue changed but the tolex didn’t so there were still “smaller” issues as seen with @funkle and @mcnach. They’ve now changed the glue again, and also the tolex, so as to mitigate the shrinking issues and the glue failures. This new tolex is easier to work apparently and therefore if any peeling occurs with this then it will be significantly easier to re-stick. Of course ideally no peeling should occur at all. I’ll keep an eye on my One10 cabs because one has old tolex and second iteration glue and one has new tolex and third iteration glue... -

Skunk Anansie in August. Whoop!

As I understand it, they’ve recently changed their tolex AND glue again to combat these issues even better than before, so it’s worth popping an email to them to have a chat. (I know this because my pair of One10s have different tolex so I queried why!). The peeling shouldn’t be happening to anything that hasn’t been abused or is less than at least 10 years old IMO.

The LB112 cab is quite small from what I can remember and undamped inside (well worth adding this if you can find a suitable driver). It’s also worth double checking the port size(s) as IIRC they’re quite small so may need a tweak...

Sort of, but by accident not design. Ashdown amps (though two of the three I own were built in China) Barefaced Cabs ACG / Zoot / Conway basses OBBM cables. The only place I let myself down is the fx board!

Alan’s almost finished, and he’s done a stupendous job as always. Stunning

Love the CTM100. I need another one in my life one day! Dont make the same mistake I did and sell it, it’s a stupendous amp. Enjoy

I thought I was going bonkers remembering the new Fusion heads. They aren’t the Legacy heads though are they, because they have the Fusion preamp? Whilst the Legacy heads look amazing, the anew Fusion heads are more up my street if they hit the market

I’ve got a new medium scale bass! It’s a blimmin’ glorious Zoot Funkmeister and it sounds like a Jazz on steroids

Seeing Live, er, live for the first time on Sunday at Shepherds Bush, can’t wait. They were the soundtrack to my teens along with Pearl Jam, STP etc..

That’s a Finn which is slightly different again from the RetroB which Ewan is having. The Finn is my favourite bass shape ever, I have a bucket list of at least four going at any one time, not to mention that exact one in progress 😎 Might have to have a RetroB at some point too. Or I’ll just steal Ewan’s 🤓
