  1. Ditto
  2. I’ve got a crazy idea to do this. Bass -> Tuner -> ABY pedal Chain 1 goes into my Little bastard and pair of One10s to run overdriven Chain 2 goes through my fx (chorus and octave), SansAmp (to go to PA) and then into Spyder550 or ABM and Super Compact One day I’ll have a reason to turn up with all this to a gig
  3. Immense bargain!
  4. Agreed - it makes it a bit tatty looking which isn’t what we want but the sound isn’t affected. I’ll probably wait for mine to get really bad then ask them to re-cover it with the new glue and tolex
  5. Barefaced put a very very lengthy post on Facebook a few months ago explaining in detail the issues they’ve had with the tolex and glue, and the lengths they’ve gone to to find a solution. They now believe they have one so most 2019-produced product should have different tolex and glue (I don’t know the exact time the production switch occurred though). Yes, it’s not the greatest thing in the world and yes very few other manufacturers have had such obvious cosmetic issues within such a short time from purchase, but let’s not forget that these guys built the company up from nothing ten years ago. It was a design diary on this very forum which lit the touchpaper for them, and they’ve had a very public learning curve to deal with. I for one am a proud Barefaced owner and user (including one cab with slightly shrinking tolex!) and find that it’s very very easy to sit back and criticise and overlook the great success they’ve had. We should try to remember that sometimes, especially as I suspect a lesser person than Alex (me, for example) would have given up a long time ago.
  6. @fretmeister whereabouts are you? You’d be welcome to borrow my Super Compact to give you a reasonable idea if you’re nearby
  7. I’ve gigged my SC and a single One10 together a couple of times and really liked the results. I used my Ashdown ABM500 and Little Bastard heads. The One10 softens the mids of the SC I feel, it works very nicely as a pairing. I have to say I’ve been so impressed with the One10 pair that I am considering selling my SC. I would think 99% of my gigs will be covered with them, so the SC is a bit of a luxury. But it is also bloomin awesome in its own right and the different flavour it provides is also making me wonder if I should hold onto it...
  8. Yep, two One10 cabs, powered by an Ashdown RM800 normally, or possibly an ABM500 or Spyder550
  9. I have a One10 stack, powered by a variety of Ashdown heads. I did a function gig with it (plus PA support) and it was absolutely fine. This week d I’ll get to rehearse with it with my loud punk band, it’ll be interesting to see how it fares. I think with PA support I’d always have no issue with it, but if I’m providing the only source of bass I’d probably add my Super Compact into the mix too...
  10. Cheers! Can’t see it but prob my eyes/phone... too far for me but seriously tempted by the Four10 anyway....
  11. Whereabouts are you? Can’t see it on the OP but probably being blind!
  12. I think they tend to be very brave with their decisions to make new products such as the B-Social, and also with their use of overseas manufacture. They will be the first to admit some forays into Far Eastern manufacture haven’t gone well. That being said, based on everything they’ve said to me their Chinese factory now is doing really well - and given that three of my four amps were made there I’d be inclined to agree.
  13. PPS - Gibson ruining TE... When Gibson bought them, they kept asking “why buy that component for £5 when you can buy this for £1 and make more profit?”. Hence the Gibson stuff falling apart...
  14. PS - it was about 6 years ago I became a convert. Before that I was in the “woolly” brigade but realised the error of my ways. An ABM is a superb amp to have behind you on loud gigs with no PA support. An Ampeg.... not so much IMO!
  15. I love Ashdown amps. I have four. I just bought a Spyder 550 on eBay for peanuts, turns out I paid less than it cost them to make them 😳 My ABM head cost me £90... It’s possibly (perceived) market saturation - they tend to be very easy to get hold of in shops and second hand, and perhaps some of the cheaper ranges have devalued the others. Maybe being a UK company makes this the case - are they seen as more boutique overseas?! They do have an excellent set of class D heads in the RM at the moment and their RM cabs are pretty light so it’s not like they don’t do lightweight stuff. I’ve always found them hugely helpful and respectful - the amount of time they’ve taken over the years talking to me and entertaining me when I pop in to see them is insane, I’m a nobody in the bass playing world but they always have the time for me. All I want now is a CTM preamp in an RM800 box. And a stripped back, half-width ABM500 too. It’s not too much to ask 🤣🤣
  16. Awesome Paul! Forgot how small the ST is - it’s not that much more than the SC is it! Cracking rigs even if the Compact isn’t actually yours
  17. Certainly does - saw you guys supporting Geoff Tate a couple of weeks back in Camden and it sounded immense (yes I recognised the rack from the gig... bass geek... 🤓)
  18. Sounds great
  19. I have played gigs with all sorts of Ashdown heads from the LB30, through the RM500 and RM800, via the CTM100 and up to the ABM500 and monstrous BTA200. They all have their merits - the BTA200 for example is probably the amp I’d choose if I ever got to do a serious set of gigs (I won’t!), though finding one isn’t exactly easy, my favourite amp to this day remains the CTM100, etc.. - but I’d be happy with any of them for rehearsals and small gigs with a rock band. The LB30 won’t ever be clean, but with enough speakers and PA support it’ll sound gloriously dirty and in your face on stage. The ABM, RM800 and BTA can do bigger bass extension with more cleanliness to the tone, and along with the CTM100 can all handle bass duties without PA if necessary. The LB30 certainly won’t fill a room with deep pounding bass in the same way so keep your expectations firmly on gnarly stage monitor and you’ll be fine. HTH
  20. Great cab, it’ll pair really well with the Stubby. Love your Sandberg too, they’re causing me all sorts of uncomfortable GAS feelings at the moment 😳
  21. Bloody wonderful!
  22. Cracking amps, insanely low price - someone’s gonna have a bargain here!
