  1. Needed a less clean one to match my roadworn bass. Sourced one of here so the mintier one is available. No screws im afraid but everything works as it should. £20 delivered in the UK
  2. Yup, I have one (might've been my old post you saw). Lovely amp and just at the right wattage to be able to drive the valves without ever wanting for clean headroom. Not massively heavy compared to other valve heads. Can be had for a decent price and doesn't cost the earth to revalve. Heres a few shots of mine
  3. Big ol' heavy duty rack case with butterfly catches on the removeable front and back lids. Big spring loaded carrying handles to sides and front/back. Rubber feet on bottom for placing on top of cab. Collection only as decent size and weight. Pics to follow asap
  4. Price drop to £650 and an update on the strings. The bass was wearing Olympia flats but last night the G snapped at the tuner. So i strung her up with a used set of my fave Elites flats and the difference is fantastic. More thump and a bit more ‘open’. Sounded great through my Ampeg B50R

Lawrence bought a strap off me in an effortlessly smooth transaction. Nae danger here
  6. if you are local to Bolton at all youd be welcome to try my Peavey alphabass. Im toying with listing it here anyway as something a bit special has come up that I need to fund
  7. Two that spring to mind are a sunburst Epiphone Rivoli (reissue) with hardcase from Bass Gallery for £250 a few years ago. I also once snagged a 'spares/repairs' SVT on ebay for £350, all it needed was new valves and it was fine
  8. According to this nifty little gadget borrowed off my neighbour the neck depth at the first fret is 23mm (0.905512 inches to be precise)
  9. hmmmm, local and a V4B.........tempted by the head!!
  10. That's a stunner! Not helping my gas for an active PJ bass at the mo!
  11. Definitely deep. Its a thinner neck width wise than my Fender Classic 50’s but certainly deeper. Ill see what i can do measurement wise tonight and get back to you
  12. Hi, I can try and get the neck depth dimensions but I don't have those digital caliper type things (rally should invest actually). I can potentially do courier. I have plenty of bubble warp for the bass but no box for the hardcase, being an original hardcase id like to protect that too
  13. So a basic Legend 4 has come up for sale near me. PJ pups and in a misty/bluey grey colour. Looks nice and also the guy has bought a tone pump circuir (fitted with all the pots, battery clip etc). Im sorely tempted despite being a p bass player, its just that tone in the vid above - I cant get it out of my head!
  14. Its been brought to my attention (not on here I might add) that ive overpriced this. Ive tried to find other examples in UK with same details but struggling. As such ive price dropped a little to £675 and will still keep the trade/part-ex option open on a V4B
  15. So obsessed with Leigh Foxx's live tone on the T In The Park vids from 2011 im starting to GAS for a Sepctor!!! But im a dyed in the wool P bass man!!!!!

    1. lowregisterhead

      lowregisterhead

It does sound very good though. Big and fat. Give it a try. You might like it!

    2. BruceBass3901

      BruceBass3901

Good lord that tone is thick

  16. Im purely a P bass man but been gassing after one of these since I heard the live tone on the newer Blondie stuff where Leigh Foxx totes one of these bad boys! If I wasn't after an Ampeg V4B with the funds from my Tokai sale this would definitely be on my list!
  17. Been asked the weight a few times, will see if I can track down some luggage scales to check it out and post back here
  18. 4 inch wide padded big ol’ strap. Extension piece at back is non original but brand new. Main strap part has had locks fitted in past. Price includes UK postage
  19. A black pickguard off a Squier VM precision TB - basically the bass with the great whackin mudbucker by the neck. Had one years ago and changed the guard out to a white BassDoc one. Found this having a clear out. Postage to UK included in price
  20. I thought of any other of my bass stuff to sell to fund either an SVT or V4B but this is the one with the most value in it and that is used the least. A stunning 1978 Tokai Hard Puncher precision bass in 3 tone sunburst, black guard, ash body and maple neck with original japanese hardcase and original japanese case candy/hang tags. Comes fitted with an upgraded junction box type wiring harness and a Seymore Duncan SPB-1. Fitted with flatwounds and sounding every bit like a 70’s p bass should. Has all the expected age wear with the chrome bridge and tuners nicely pitted but fully functions and nice surface wear (real not reliced) but no major dings or dongs. Could do with a set up, the D and A have a few choked notes right up at the dusty end but I dont really venture up there but want to mention it. I had planned to take it to Jacks Instrument Services in Manchester before the lockdown. Collection would be from Bolton (or meet ups possible) where she can be tested. Not really keen on posting as i really want any buyer to see and play the bass in the flesh. Trade/part ex wise id consider an Ampeg V4B valve head or at a push an SVT-VR but cash is king.
  21. Reverb is always worth a scan. I got my Peavey Alphabass off there - 160w via 6 x 6L6GC, lovely. Theres always cheap Sound Citys on ebay and the like for around £350-£450 but not great for bass unless its the Mk3 models (in which case the price goes up). Fender Bassman 100/135's often pop up and with only a 4 x 6L6GC power section a full revalve wont be TOO much. If going vintage I would always set aside say £100 for a tech visit, plus the cost of a revalve just in case. Id also check out the very cheap Bugera 1960, whilst its marketed as a guitar amp it worked fine for me on bass, 100w via 4 x EL34's
