  1. Back up, had an offer of £600 off ebay but has since gone quiet. Will accept same offer on here if that interests anyone at £600 collected or could work around UK postage
  2. Sorry, this sold a while back and I forgot to update the ad
  3. Speaking to a fellow and local BCer last night who has recommended a carrier. As such I would reluctantly be willing to have this shipped within UK if that interests anyone.
  4. Filthy vintagy bass porn shot of her with my fliptop just to temp 😂
  5. She isnt wearing her bridge cover in the pics but she does come with it. Pics of abs style case asap
  6. My main bass and the bass that has held such a title for the longest – 6yrs to be exact. It’s a 1994 (according to the serial number thingy) Fender Japan PB70 complete with TV style logo and vintage tinted neck. Bought as a replica of Baz Fratelli’s 1974 precision bass and set up with the same strings and features as his original. It has seen several things done to it in the time I have held it which ive listed below. When I bought his from Ookini (Japanese guitar and bass specialist over on that ebay) he mentioned that the Black/black/rosewood version of the PB70 is the rarest. Ive seen many oly white/black but never seen another black/black. Its first ever full set up I had done when I first bought it including a full fret dress. It has worn flatwounds ever since so frets are in excellent condition I bought this for my 30th and was my #1 bass for 4 years covering all my gigs and recording. I sold it briefly a few years back and bought it back after sellers remorse around 8mths later and its been reinstated as my number one ever since. Unfortunately that ‘vintage fender bass’ itch that ive had for a few years now needs scratching and this is making way for such. Additions:- KIOgon wiring Harness Alex Pribora handwound pickups – sound amazing and a ‘mod’ I do to all my P basses Wilkinson 70’s style tuners Thumb rest in 74 period correct position Ashtray/bridge covers Metal sleeve inserts in neck for neck bolts (during full set up at Jacks Instrument Services) Elites Detroit Flatwound Strings Fender F stamp neck plate and plastic gasket thingy for period correctness) Set up/serviced pretty much every year since ive had it by Jack Ellis at Jacks Instrument Services to keep it in excellent recording and gigging condition. Bad points:- In its 8mth exile from me someone has attempted a mini relic job on the arm contour. Doesn’t look remotely genuine but to be honest when being played it cant really be seen. Could possibly be painted over or a more genuine relic job done Of course it’s a gigged back so there are a few minor knocks and scuffs. It genuinely is the one bass I thought id never sell. If I hadn’t seen the 73 bass on Andy Baxter’s it would probably be my forever bass ☹ Comes with an immaculate hardcase but I wont trust this to a courier. Its collection only from Bolton where she can be heard thumping and growling through her best mate, a 1966 Ampeg fliptop. No trades. I don’t really want to do this but needs must. Pics to follow tonight if I don’t change my mind throughout today 😊
  7. I was looking recently at flogging my Ampeg SB12, funding a nice vintage Fender P and replacing the Ampeg with an Ashdown 1x12 cab and their Little Stubby amp. Hmmmmmmm
  8. Never bought from Andy Baxter Bass but the 1973 P bass on his site coupled with their Divido monthly payment scheme is sorely tempting me!

the burst/maple right handed one.  replaced pickguard, wiring and knobs but other than that its supposedly original.  I also like the jazz bass on there, again burst/maple/white block

Andy Baxter is one of my daily/weekly visits on the web, always something to make you drool if it's vintage Fenders you're after! In fact, I'm having a look right now....

  9. Like most other people are saying, its only the distance that had stopped this amp being mine
  10. My go to tech is Roland, he does all my valve jobbies but doesn't take on SS amps. Might give Dave a call and see if its something he can do
  11. So to update:- I dropped this off at HW Audio in Bolton who quickly declared it a write off! So I thought id have a tinker with it seeing as I couldn't break it even more. I bought the correct fuses and resting them on the remains of the holders the amp fired up!!!! Surely it cant be a write off when the clip fuse holders are 12p online! I get that removing the board to work on will be 99% of the work but surely for a professional it cant be THAT much of a job? Anyway, in the meantime and as a stop gap it has been recommended that I buy some 'wire glue' which is effectively glue that conducts electricity and glue the fuses to what is left of the holders. Just as a stop gap until I can get someone willing to remove the board and fit new holders. Anyone think this is a bad idea?
  12. I have seen that, unfortunately distance is an issue there
  13. Have looked at these and the Genz version they seem to be a clone off. May be ive tried the wrong ones but the 4 or 5 class D's ive tried all lacked something. Theres plenty of volume just seem to lack 'slam' or that fateful BC word - heft
  14. I recently purchased a Warwick Tubepath 5.1 off ebay that turned out to be a complete lemon (broken internals and when checked over by my tech it turned out numerous bodged jobs had been done). It was declared a write off. As such im in the market for a new amp that meets the below requirements:- Not class D Valvey driven type tone Hybrid rather than all valve (more price concern rather than weight) Usual 2U rack mount type size 300w - 500w as a minimum Budget is going to be £300 - £400 second hand So far amps in the catergory ive tried and loved:- Mesa Boogie Big Block - best sound ive had from a non-valve amp. Outside my current budget but this is the tone that im after Ashdown Spyder - again, beautiful sound, maybe lacking just a touch more grit Ampeg SVT3 - couldn’t get quite enough growl/grit out of it Ampeg SVT3 non-pro - better than the pro but again lacked grit I also tried the Orange Bass terror, plenty of volume but lacked that kick to the gut, ive found this with all the class D's ive tried hence me possibly ruling them out. Id still like to give a Warwick Tubepath a go as from what ive read it ticks most of my boxes. Theres also the Handbox 400 that gets brought up on here a lot but will be way outside my current budget. What other valve/solid state hybrids will get me in the ball park of a Mesa BB750 without the cost (probably asking the impossible here).
  15. Can take £200 if that's any incentive to move it before xmas?

"Who says flats cant go on a jazz!?!"  no-one. it's an urban legend - just like saying a swan will break your arm. No documented evidence anywhere (swans or flats)

    4. EssentialTension

      EssentialTension

From the inception of the Jazz Bass in 1960 until the mid 1970s, Fender fitted flatwound strings as standard.

Jazz Bass with flatwounds and a plectrum, was a very common sound throughout the 1960s and 70s.

If someone doesn't like it then that's their business, but to say it can't be done is stupid.

  17. Josie bought my Epi Jack Casady bass in a meet up over weekend. Effortlessly smooth transaction and lovely to meet. Nae danger here
  18. If this can be collected this week ill take a huge hit and let it go for £200. The mrs is losing her nut over it
  19. I recently bought this amp off ebay. Sold as full working order and came in a substantial flight case. However the amp was DOA. Wouldnt turn on, no power, no lights, zilch. i popped the hood and immediately saw the problem. All three fuse holder on the valve pcb were broken. One fuse was rolling tound in the amp, one was completely missing and the other was holding on for dear life. Before i send the amp back for a refund does anyone know how difficult a job it is to replace the fuseholders? Im not attempting it myself but i assume you will have to remove the board to work on it which in itself would be laboursome. There are boards that i could see would need to be removed first. unfortunately my go-to amp tech is strictly an all valve giy so will also need to source someone in Nortg West to take a look. A not so happy NAD ☹️
  20. Ive found small items like used flats etc shift quickly here. Anything like amps, cabs or basses I have much more joy on facebook or evil bay to be honest.
