Loved these back in the day but before they closed they changed the formula. The old silkless ones were lovely but then they changed and had black silks at both ends and the actual string seemed different. Dead E's galore and uneven twangy G and D. I snap up any NOS ones that come up on ebay
-
Excellent strings the Detroit Flats too, my go to choice

Of all the p basses ive tried - fender (modern and vintage), sandberg, squire, limelight etc the best bang for buck are the late 70's/early 80's Tokai Hardpunchers, absolute gems that just sound like that 70's p bass sound on so many of my fave records
-
These are all valve, the SVT4 is a hybrid. That's the main difference
-
That's the one. Ive bought a few things off the seller Kamil (he's bought a few amps off me too) so complete faith in the seller, its just do I NEED 300w of valve power? My current amp, a Peavey Alphabass, puts out circa 160w via 6 x 6L6GC which is plenty, but headroom though.......... £600 is a steal, in a drunken hopeful moment I bid £500 on yours fully expecting it to be knocked back, it was instantly so obviously (and understandably) below his minimum auto decline amount
-
How you getting on with it @Bankai? Im always looking at the stock over on Amp Broker (a polish amp shop that mainly deals on reverb, really good guy running that place) and they have a similar SVT II in, very tempted!
-
Agree here, im a big Ashdown fan when it comes to their heads, not so much when it comes to their cabs. An Ashdown head with a trace cab would be best of both worlds
-
Lovely amp!

What's the best class D bass amp head you've used?
Pow_22 replied to thebassist's topic in Amps and Cabs
Orange bass terror Mk1. ONLY class D ive tried that I actually got on with -
Congrats, cant say im not jealous! I did put an offer in but admittedly it was low ball and auto decline. Enjoy!
-
I know, my finger has been hovering over the Offer button on the USA coloured logo one daily for a while now 😬

This GAS inducing thread is making me think about sticking my peavey valve head up for sale to fund an SVT II

Defo looks like an Ampeg SVT Tube DI on top of the amp, had one not so long ago, lovely bit of kit and quite rare
-
That's why im looking at them, I need a budget 4ohm cab for my valve head. Theres 2 that fit the bill on my local Facebook place - the Marshall and an Ampeg. Ive tried the full fat version of the Ampeg i.e not the B series and found it a little boomy. The Marshall seems to have the same front shelf port that the B series Ampeg has so just wondering if they bring the same boom

FS/FT: Ashdown ABM 1510HX 4ohm Cab UK MADE **SOLD**

My second favourite ever bass tone was through an SVTII Non Pro into an 810 cab, with my flats loaded P bass it was glorious! Only topped by the same cab with an old Japanese MTI era SVT, that actually cause a stirring in my loins!!!

Ive seen a MBC 410 locally that's the same price as an also local Ampeg B410HLF. Im guessing the ampeg will go lower (boomy almost if the standard 410HLF is anything to go by). Whats peoples thoughts on the MBC 410?
