  1. All's well... Ive bought many things off BD and they have always been spot on. I've said it before on here though, they get VERY giddy price wise when anything 'vintage fender' comes into them
  2. So after two rehearsals over two nights im sold. The load in is so much easier, easy one hand carry for the cab. Tone wise, of course its nowhere near the volume of the Eden 4x10 it has replaced but its a very even and deep sound without getting muddy. When i play this via my Walkabout and my flats loaded P bass its thumpy and gives a bit of dirt when i dig in. When i click my Cali 76 compressor on it thumps REALLY hard, proper chest hitting stuff. Miles away from my previous Barefaced experiences with the honky mids and ice pick highs. Need to find a cover for it at some point as its definitely a keeper!
  3. interesting. Ive checked they haven't been removed on mine and there are no signs of previous feet like screw holes or glue residue
  4. After admitting im not quite the spring chicken i once was and ditching the big old valve heads for a Mesa Walkabout i started to look into options to lighten my cab carry. I had pretty much settled on a Fender Rumble V3 2x10 cab as my band doesnt play at excessive volumes and bigger venues get FOH help. Ive tried several barefaced cabs over the years (all borrowed or shared backline) and to be honest never really saw the hype - yes they were light but there seemed too much trade of tone wise. This was with their 12's and 10's cabs id tried. However, i see all the rave reviews and wondered was it me that was the issue? My problem was i always found them bitey, honky in the mids and ice picky highs so someone suggested their older 15's in particular the compact. I believe then is a gen 1 v2 (apparently) as it has two speakon inputs on the back Fast forward a while and one popped up on Bass Directs website so i took the plunge. At house volume it seems much better than my previous dealings but the proof will be at full volume band practice tonight where it will be paired with the walkabout and my flats loaded P bass.......will feedback asap P.S - A bit weird that these don't come with rubber feet...or any feet for that matter
  5. Rickenbacker 4005, Original 58 p bass or and early 60's p in burst/tort/rosewood
  6. Bought as i needed an urgent back up for a series of gigs i had from our local crack converters. It was subsequently given a clean to remove previous stickers, strung up with the fabulous Elites groundwound strings and had the pickguard replaced with a 70's style accurate one with correct thumb rest screw holes (can include original and a tort replacement in the sale). Furthermore the strat style knobs were replaced with vintage style jazz bass knobs. Sounds big and punchy and does the burpy thing too. The neck is fabulous both aesthetically and playability wise. Finally the pup covers appear to have been almost sanded, presumably to get the 'Duncan Designed' wording off the covers. I have spares if that bothers you. Only flogging as a cheap p bass has come up which is more my thing. If that sells then ill pull this. No gigbag im afraid as i use a duo type case. Collection would be from Bolton or could possibly meet up within reasonable distance. 2 'flaws' to note as per pics - there is a largish paint chip on the lower horn. Cant see it from the front and i has colours the visible wood in with black marker. Secondly on the arm contour is not a dint so much but a paint flake for want of a better word. Cant fee it when playing and if so inclined one of those needle type superglues would 'fix' it. The wood is smooth so seems to be a paint 'ding' only. Ive tried to picture as best i can. Pics to follow asap
  7. Never really got on with Barefaced cabs but a gen1 Compact has come up locally...hmmmm....

If you don't get on with them, why would you buy another?

what ive tried so far i didnt like.  A few of their 12's and the two ten.  All seem honky, bitey and a bit brash/brittle.  Ive never tried their 15s and the amount of fans on here suggests it may be user error rather than poor cabs

  8. On hold ***back for sale, facebook timewaster***
  9. If the cab I've seen doesn't shift in the meantime i could do a bundle bargain deal of:- Ashdown 330 Head Spare pair of 12AX7 Valves Fitted roqsolid cover Eden 4x10 4 0hm cab heavy duty amp-speaker cable cup of tea/coffee on collection All for a bargainous £250
  10. Random 1975 P bass has rocked up at Crack Converters https://www.cashconverters.co.uk/shop/music-tv--video/musical-instruments/guitars--string-instruments/bass-guitar/046000112631
  11. i ended up getting a set of hex head ones off ebay for a few quid that do the job perfectly. Ill dig the link out
  12. All set up. Only thing is the Gator power brick didnt come with the 18v power supply and the power supply input isnt a standard size so really struggling to find a replacement 😫
  13. Anyone know where i can pick up an 18v adapter to fit a Gator G Bus pedalboard brick? It has a strange input jack as per the picture
  14. Their half's and flats were amazing back in the day, made by Picato i believe. As Picato went bump status struggled to find a new Flats/Halfs supplier and stock dried up
  15. So now the gigs are rolling in its time to replace my Eden 4x10 with something lighter. Have blown a load of cash on pedals recently im working to a budget so the likes of Barefaced are out the equation currently. Volume wise i dont need oodles so i could probably get away with a 2x10 which has raised the option of the Fender Rumble 210 v3 cab. I love the silverface look and reviews seem decent. There is also the silverfaced Ashdown RM210 evo though ive been a bit ‘meh’ with previous ashdown cabs which also may rule out the local VS212 that has come up. Gigs are mainly small/medium pubs and band is not overly loud so i am convinced a 210 would cover most things. Does anyone have real life experience of the rumble 210 as a standalone cab? The VS212 is very cheap and local so again, anyone used one as a standalone live cab?
  16. Pretty much exactly my experience. A good old P bass or at a push a jazz fits me just fine, especially the MIJ ones from the 80's. My main squeeze if a MIJ 57 RI from 1985 that is the best p bass ive ever played. Back up is a cheapo Squire VM 77 which is lovely in itself. Doesnt stop me going off piste every now and again and GAS'ing over Rics, semi hollows, Spectors etc
  17. I do. They are definitely more ‘valvey’ but id caveat that by saying the ABM’s are far more flexible EQ wise
  18. A local cab has come up so i could potentially throw an eden 4x10 4ohm cab in with the head for an extra £100 if that tempts anyone?
  19. The Spyder series are the more valve like. They have genuine valve pre's (2 x 12AX7). The 330 has a MAG power section and the 550 is an ABM power section
  20. Thats a stunner!
  21. Mosfet Bass Drive incoming.  Looking for an 'always on' gritty tone rather than distortion so could be interesting!

Nice choice. Never used one but heard a few demos and they seem great.

  22. Hopefully somewhere gets the Walkabout gigbags in soon too!
  23. To end this sordid tale…. @wateroftyne was right. A spirtz of contact cleaner, wire straw brush and a good clean of the effects loop and jobs a good un. Leave this here for any future Mesa players with similar issues 👍
  24. Even though you would be mainly paying for the neck alone this seems like a reasonable price *bitsa warning* https://thebassgallery.com/collections/bass/products/fender-hybrid-1
