1. An SVT through an 8x10 (preferably with a flats loaded P Bass) is something everyone should experience before they die
2. If i can shift my bitsa jazz id be very tempted by this! Local too! Damn gas 😡
3. . Ive been after a reasonably close bass sound to the tone Baz Fratelli gets on Chelsea Dagger for a while and been through numerous fuzz/distortion/overdrive pedals and all have failed. As per the link its fuzzy but still thumpy and reasonably tight. I certainly think in the studio they have taken a clean feed and a fuzzy feed and dubbed them on the album track so I know im not going to get the EXACT tone but im looking to get as close as poss. Ive tried an old Bubble Font Muff that got close-ish but it lacked the thump/bass. The Big Bass Muff isn’t bright enough, an Ibanez PD7 was too sludgey, a Boss BD2 was awesome but again lacked the thump. I play through an Ampeg valve amp so also tried an LPB1 boost pedal to try and overdrive the amp but it wasn’t fuzzy enough (awesome valvey beef tho!). I’m playing a P bass into an always-on DHA Bass Drive to beef up my sound then into the Ampeg V4BH into an Ampeg 410he. 4. Right, this is back up for sales but as spares/repair. Effectively this was serviced back in June 2016 by Mike Powell of MPAV Services in Bolton. The service upgraded the amp to 200-2 specs and included a full new set of JJ KT88’s. I have the schematics from Yorkville that fully detail the 200-2 mod and can supply these. The amp went on to run flawlessly until several weeks ago. I sold the amp on here in full working order, had a PM off the buyer saying they were pleased with the amp and I thought that was that, another good transaction on Basschat. However, 2 weeks later the buyer got in contact to say the amp was humming, there were crackles and pops and they wanted their money back! Since then the amp has been sat here. I have a lovely Ampeg V4B that is my main amp and I just don’t have the time or inclination to take it to the fixers and incure a bench/repair fee. As such the amp is sold as is, spares or repair. Im after £200 ono for it. Not a clue what has gone wrong with it so it will need to go to a good repair tech or someone more tech savvy than myself. Would consider swap/trade for a 90s bubble font muff pedal
5. When I used mine with an Ashdown 2x12 I had plenty of clean headroom and with the master volume thingy on the back was able to run it pretty clean. I did upgrade the EL34’s to JJ E34L’s which supposedly help out a big headroom wise
6. Had one for a few years and loved it. Don't need a roqsolid dust cover for it do you?
7. Also offered for sale now at £25 posted within UK
8. For Trade – My Ibanez PD7 Phat Head pedal for your EHX Big Bass Muff Pi I bought the pedal very recently in my continuing quest for a Chelsea Dagger type clanky overdrive. The PD7 basically doesn’t have enough low end loss for me – which is what most people actually try and avoid! It gives a lovely bassy sludgy kind of sound with a nice drive that isn’t too ‘fake fizzy’ for want of a better word. Only slight bad point is the Attack Button doesn’t work, it is set at Off which has never been a problem for me (apparently Off is standard, 1 adds a few overtones/harmonics and 2 adds even more). In good condition and willing to post or meet up within reasonable distance of Bolton. Cash top up is fine from my end too.

Oldman Feedback

Brian bought my Traynor valve head in my 2nd dealing with him and it was just as smooth a transaction as the first time. Great meeting you Brian!
10. I currently use Dunlop Max Grip Nylon picks as I love the rough grippy texture on them. Does anyone know of any tortex material picks that also feature a grooved/grippy surface? Ive tried Gator Grip ones but they seemed to lose their grip at the slightest hint of sweat. What im really after is a grooved and rough surface but on a tortex type pick
11. Bought a pedal off Dan in an effortlessly smooth transaction. Nae Danger here
12. Yup – always loved big valve amps (sound city 200, 120, Bassman 135, SVT’s, VBA400, Traynor YBA200, Ashdown Drophead 200) then for some reason decided to try going lightweight. Head wise I went through Orange Bass Terror (which I actually really liked), TB RH450, TC BH250, Ashdown LB550, Ampeg portaflex 350 – none of them did what I wanted. Cab wise I went through an Ashdown VS212, a Barefaced 1 x 12, an Ashdown neo 4x8, TC 2x12 – didn’t like any of them (the VS212 wasn’t terrible). Now im back to a good old SVT, V4BH and an Ampeg 410he – back to being happy with my tone
13. I would suggest the Orange Bass terror too. Im a bit of an all valve snob but the OBT is one of the only hyrbirds ive tried/heard that really did it for me
14. Could potentially open up to trades/Part ex. I like P basses and semi hollow bases (a MIM 50's RI is burst or an ebony Jack Casady would tickle my pickle)
15. Valves will help keep you warm in the winter months type bump
16. Reduced on ebay to £475.00 type BUMP
17. New amp is here type bump. Reduced on Ebay to £500 ONO so open to offers
18. Gave this a good blast last night at the studio and as is always the case when I put gear up for sale, it sounded monumental. Did Substitute by The Who and I got some lovely valvey growls when digging in J
