An SVT through an 8x10 (preferably with a flats loaded P Bass) is something everyone should experience before they die

.[font="Times New Roman"][size="3"][color="#000000"] [/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]Ive been after a reasonably close bass sound to the tone Baz Fratelli gets on Chelsea Dagger for a while and been through numerous fuzz/distortion/overdrive pedals and all have failed.[/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"] [/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]As per the link its fuzzy but still thumpy and reasonably tight. [/color][/size][size="3"][color="#000000"]I certainly think in the studio they have taken a clean feed and a fuzzy feed and dubbed them on the album track so I know im not going to get the EXACT tone but im looking to get as close as poss.[/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"] [/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]Ive tried an old Bubble Font Muff that got close-ish but it lacked the thump/bass. [/color][/size][size="3"][color="#000000"]The Big Bass Muff isn’t bright enough, an Ibanez PD7 was too sludgey, a Boss BD2 was awesome but again lacked the thump. I play through an Ampeg valve amp so also tried an LPB1 boost pedal to try and overdrive the amp but it wasn’t fuzzy enough (awesome valvey beef tho!).[/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"] [/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]I’m playing a P bass into an always-on DHA Bass Drive to beef up my sound then into the Ampeg V4BH into an Ampeg 410he. [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]When I used mine with an Ashdown 2x12 I had plenty of clean headroom and with the master volume thingy on the back was able to run it pretty clean. [/color][/size][size="3"][color="#000000"]I did upgrade the EL34’s to JJ E34L’s which supposedly help out a big headroom wise[/color][/size][/font]

Had one for a few years and loved it. Don't need a roqsolid dust cover for it do you?

[/color][/size][size="3"][color="#000000"]Does anyone know of any tortex material picks that also feature a grooved/grippy surface?[/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"] [/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]Ive tried Gator Grip ones but they seemed to lose their grip at the slightest hint of sweat. [size="3"][color="#000000"][font="Calibri"]Yup – always loved big valve amps (sound city 200, 120, Bassman 135, SVT’s, VBA400, Traynor YBA200, Ashdown Drophead 200) then for some reason decided to try going lightweight. [/font][/color][/size] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"] [/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]Head wise I went through Orange Bass Terror (which I actually really liked), TB RH450, TC BH250, Ashdown LB550, Ampeg portaflex 350 – none of them did what I wanted.[/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"] [/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]Cab wise I went through an Ashdown VS212, a Barefaced 1 x 12, an Ashdown neo 4x8, TC 2x12 – didn’t like any of them (the VS212 wasn’t terrible).[/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"] [/color][/size][/font] [font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]Now im back to a good old SVT, V4BH and an Ampeg 410he – back to being happy with my tone[/color][/size][/font]

[font="Calibri"][size="3"][color="#000000"]I would suggest the Orange Bass terror too. [/color][/size][size="3"][color="#000000"]Im a bit of an all valve snob but the OBT is one of the only hyrbirds ive tried/heard that really did it for me[/color][/size][/font]
