After a budget-ish overdrive pedal for my bass and am a bit lost with it all being fairly new to pedals. Basically the tone im after is the bass intro to Chelsea Dagger by fratellis – so a fairly aggressive sound but still with plenty of bottom end in. I used to use an Ashdown valve amp so for this song I just used my LPB-1 booster pedal that pushed the valves into breakup. However, im now back to a hybrid head and whilst I love the normal tone I (obviously) just cant get the amp to break up the same. I did get hold of a pic of the Fratellis bass pedal board and noticed he seems to use a guitar OD pedal in the Boss Blues Driver but when I tried this the bottom end just fell out of the mix and got completely lost. I don’t want to spend too much as its an effect ill barely use (I don’t really use any!) so ive been looking at the likes of the Ibanez PD7, EXH Hot Tubes Nano etc. To give an idea of my setup im using a ’76 P bass with flatwounds into an Ampeg SVT3 (non pro) and an Ampeg 410HE. Any help from pedal players greatly appreciated

Any users of the SVT III Non pro on here at all? Theres one at our local rehearsal studio and despite being a valve man this head sounds really good and can get quite gritty. I see the common complaint on the Pro version is lack of volume and the non-pro is actually rated at less output but the tone is really good. I ve only played it through my 4x10 with both my Jack Casady and P bass (both with flats) and can get a nice old school sound. One has cropped up for sale and im tempted. Any long term users on here got any view/opinions

2nd cabinet bought from Chris. Arranged to be dropped off near me due to some work his company had on. Great pleasant transaction as before. No worries here

Very tentative feeler to gauge interest:- Here we have an Ashdown DP200H – a 200w all valve UK built amp. Serial number dates this to 2008. It is in immaculate condition with no knocks, dings, scuffs or scrapes. The chrome and black exterior combined with the visible glowing quad of caged 6550 valves looks stunning. Its clearly taken a few design tips from the old Ampeg B15 heads. It was re-valved in May this year with a matched set of 4 x Harma Retro 6550 valves. The pre-amp consists of a JJ ECC83 and a JJ ECC82. There is a further JJ ECC83 driver valve that sits in between the 6550's. I bought this as I feel 200w valve wise is just right. Enough headroom but also you can drive the power valves to get the sweet tone without flattening small cities. The big plus here is that the lack of a traditional wooden case/sleeve means this is probably the lightest 200w valve amp out there – it feels lighter than my Hartke HA5500 in wooden case! The amp runs at 200w via ¼" jacks at either 4, 8 or 16ohm so should be able to power most of the commonly seen cabs. It comes with the original box, manual & kettle lead. Viewings and trials are more than welcome and initially this is offered as a 'collection only' from Bolton. I can deliver within reasonable distance. As above this is very much a feeler to gauge interest and see if my idea of pricing is correct. I have yet to line up a replacement amp and so as such im setting it at £875.00. The ONLY trade/part-ex deal I would consider would be an Ampeg V4BH with cash my way Pictures will be served forthwith
