Ashdown VS-212 300w @ 8ohms. Cool retro maroon cloth grill with white piping. Earlier model with smaller single wing Ashdown badge in top left corner. Couple of tiny tolex nicks from loading (no flaps or owt). Has rubber feet on bottom and side for your preference of set up. Takes Speakon or Jack and sounds great with my Orange BT500. Alas i have an Ampeg V4BH incoming and want an Ampeg 410he to match with it. Whilst i would of course welcome a cash sale i would really like to give preference to anyone wanting to part ex an Ampeg 410he (cash from my end to top up of course). Unless the deal is for Ampeg cab im not in a massive rush as i still need this in thge meantime to keep me going **Will also consider a Hartke AK410 in part ex/swap** Cab is based in Bolton but can travel for right deal. Dont fancy postage on this, whilsts its not massively heavey ive only every sent basses through post. Pics to follow

Cool, will give him a bell. I used him years ago on a Sound City 120 and he did the service and re-valve while i waited which i thought was good but all my recent valve amps have gone to Roland Lumby, he's really good but is away till November

Anyone know if Dave Lunt in Stockport is still going? My mate is looking to get his Marshall looked at in an urgent hurry for a tour. My usual go-to tech is away till November but im sure id heard somewhere that Dave was no longer doing repairs?

Got an incoming new toy thanks to Beedster of this parish in the form of an Ampeg V4BH and have been doing some reading up. The internet seems to conflict several times regarding the pre-amp valves in this thing. The power valves are 4 x 6L6, 1 x ECC82 & 1 x ECC83 and is clearly marked on the amps rear panel like its big brother the SVT that i have. However, the pre-amp is noted is some places as 2 x ECC83 (again like the SVT) but other state its 1 x ECC83 and 1 x ECC82. Any other V4BH users throw any light on this at all? Im guessing the ECC82 & ECC83 combination would give slightly cleaner headroom but what are these amps supposed to have in the pre?

Orange Bass Terror in immaculate condition. Think this was one of the later models as it came loaded with JJ’s as stock but I have however changed the V1 valve to an original vintage Mullard ECC81 for a bit smoother and lower gain. I also replaced the bulb as it wasn’t working when I got the amp, been fine ever since with the one I got directly from Orange. Really beefy sound that I was not expecting from such a small and lightweight amp. Aye, bass lounge is a fantastic place. Not a fan of barefaced at all but the service at MBL is always second to none
-
Tung Sols in mine. Sounds fantastic and got then on offer from Watford Valves at about £135 for the 6

The HA5500 remains my fave solid state amp to this day. Volume wise they blow Ashdown (a similar price range/target market) out the water. I used a HA2500 that would eat an ABM500 for breakfast volume wise

Few crappy iphone pics to gauge interest. In studio tomorrow for more/better pics

Aria TAB 66 semi bass in Black Bought this very recently as I have a massive softspot for the look of a semi (oooo matron!). It needed a bit of work doing so it went in to Steve Curtis at PMT Manchester who did:-

Fret Dress
Electrics clean
Full Set Up with Status Flatwounds
Replaced one of the tuning key washers
Really breathy sound as you’d expect from a semi. Two controls (1 x volume, 1 x tone) and a toggle switch for either bridge pup, neck pup or both. The bass is missing its scratchplate (which I think makes it look better). As with the Epiphone rivoli I had (and never learned from) I really am just a simple Precision bass man. The look of a semi often over rules my head and I just have to buy them even tho they don’t really suit the music im playing. I don’t have a hard case so cant really ship but I did buy a Ritter gigbag that fits this bass well. Its hard to find cases/bags with the large hollow body AND a full scale neck. Trials/Viewings are welcome with no obligation. Trade wise id consider the Fender Classic 50’s (burst with gold guard) Pics will follow but I did post one in the Semi Hollow thread on the Bass Guitars section of the forum.

As much as i love P basses ive always had a soft spot for semi-hollow basses. Been neogtiating with a local crack converters over a black Aria TAB bass and finally settled on a price at weekend. Needs a set up (action is a little high) and defo new strings. I normally use flats but for some reason i think they may be a bit TOO dark on this bass. Ive only had chance to play it at low volumes at the mo but will take it to rehearsal tomorrow and see how the current rounds sound. Might even take the oppertunity to try some Chromes seeing as they are meant to be quite bright. Im also assuming ill need Extra Long scale in view of the bridge/tailpiece setup. Any other TAB 66ers here on BC? Pics to follow

Jono bought a set of Flats off me in an effortlessly smooth and easy transaction. Immediate payment and good comms throughout. Deal with confidence, he's one of the good guys

Used set of Elites Flatwound Bass strings 45-105 cut for Fender P Bass. The E string on these does wrap around the tuning peg by about half a turn. I emailed the Bass Centre who commission these strings who advised common problem and shouldn’t cause issues. Had maybe 4 hours play so slightly broken in but not dead thumpy just yet. Reason im taking them off is they are too low tension for me (im more of a La Bella/Fender flats type of guy - something you can anchor a boat with). **SOLD**

Always pop into these places just in case they are ever selling something they dont quite know what theyve got bass wise and theres a bragin to be head. More often than not its way overpriced crap they theyre trying to flog but its always worth keeping an eye on i guess. Recently, however, ive been keeping an eye on their website and notice they have set prices and a ''Make An Offer' option. However it seems completely pointless! As in, unless you ''offer'' within about £3 of the asking price it just declines. Ive tried emailing and asking whjat ballpark they are looking for but never get a response. Anyone else use their site to try and get bass flavoured bargains and having the same issues?

I know this bass is shortscale but the bridge has a tailpeice so was wondering if ill need Medium Scale strings? Any users of this bass on BC?
