1. Right, nothing new in that im gassing for some gear i dont have (will i ever be completely gas free?). Currently im sporting an Ashdown dual tube head which sounds really nice but just not quite there. Its currently through a 4ohm 4x10 and with my flats loaded P's sounds very close. However, i just cant help gassing after an all valve amp again and have been scouring round. Two options come up:- Ashdown BTA 300 - I know its not ALL valve but 300w through a 6xKT88 power stage sounds good. Being a gear snob i have to have matching cabs with my heads so this option would mean i dont need a new cab (though it'll be a bit of a waste running such a head through just 4 tens. Ampeg SVT 300CL - i know, i know - ampegs are poorly built and prone to break down etc but the one time i played one through a 610 HLF i was in bass heaven. Ive seen a reasonable one for £900 but would also want a matching cab (either 410HLF or 610HLF) so price wise this could cost me quite a lot. If i go for the Ampeg ill be trading in both my current head and cab (id hope for say £350?) whereas if i go for the Ashdown id only have my head to trade (£200-£250 max?). My heart says Ampeg but my head says Ashdown. Need BCers help here - opinions, bollockings, advise all glady accepted
2. Gutted this doesnt appear to be able to take my 414t cab. According to Ashdown the cab is

H x W x D (mm) 655 x 604 x 420 otherwise id've had this and used the excuse of travelling to Brum to go and see Villa Park for the first time in 3 seasons
3. If you're selling off the individual stands once this is sorted let me know, i could do with a couple
4. I know they are really good quality and excellent service last time i used them for a Sound City B120. However, just priced up a set to fit my 414t Cab and 330 Head (apparently the ABM 300 Evo II fits it) and was a bit taken aback at the price. My fault that i didnt realise that the prices on site exclude VAT but still talking around £70 inc P&P. Pretty expensive i think seeing the amp cover is only gonna be quite small. Still, guess i need them to keep my gear in good nick
5. Faaaaaaaark inell!!!! I bet that 78 sounds monumental through those ampeg valves!
6. Been drooling over the Ashdown CTM 300 in recent weeks but doing some searching came across this:- http://www.soundsliveshop.com/p/Ashdown_BTA_300_(Ex-Display)_Bass_Amp/ASH-EX-BTA300 Reverse hybrid head (solid state pre with valve power). I always thought these went for a fair amount (inc the 200 and 400 versions). I know this is ex demo but still seems like a great price! If only i was fully gigging at the moment id seriously consider this. Anyone had any dealing with the BTA's?
7. Theres a 4005 for sale over on Andy Baxter bass at the moment, my dream bass but beyong my current price range
8. Martyn bought a few P bass bits off me for his project. Quick payement and some good chats on PM re: P bass projects. Cheers Martyn
9. Someone here needs to grab this bargain. Dont sit there thinking "not enough watts". As a big ashdown fan i can say these things sound amazin, especially with the 'deep' button engaged
10. pretty sure he uses flats on his thunderbird too
11. A rivoli you say? Ah, thats a terminal issue, just sell it to me cheaply On a serious note i had the same issue with an Epiphone LP bass. The luthier i took it too use wooden slat type inserts to 'fill out' the holes. Worked a treat. Need a rivoli in my stable, very nearly pulled the trigger on the tasty one at Bass Gallery
12. My old neighbours were a large violin shop/repairers/valuers. Try searching for Ayres Violins in Didsbury, Manchester. Apparently they are very well known in the violin world
13. My Dream Amp!!!! Youre too far away from here for me but im sure itll sound awsome. Im just saving up for one as we speak. You say £1200, ive not managed to find one less than the generic £1599
14. Movement! Bass us now awaiting charges. Only thing is when i try and ring them to get the code to pay its just an automated machine that dosent guve the option. Just says "await your letter then pay online"

18. Brill. Cheers for the pics guys. Good idea with the 51 style single screw rest John, might be worth a try that!
19. Cheers steve. Looking at your bass list in your sig and then your comments on the 70 RI has got me really giddy now! C'mon customs!
20. An Ebay shop called Yuma. They have great feedback from international customers and when i enquired i got emailed 70 detailed pictures of the bass. Big gamble i know but ive looked EVERYWHERE for this bass in this colour scheme and at the price (£460 for the bass and delivery plus whatever HM throw at it) i couldnt resist
21. [sup]It is Parcel Force (EMS in Jap). I dont know where it is exactky at the mo. Just says ''International Hub'' on the tracker and that it is awaiting Customs. As soon as it gets to the 'Awaiting Pament' stage ill find out where it is and go get her! [/sup]
