1. BUMP. Also has the tugbar fitted, will try and get new pics soon
2. Open to trades, see below random list:- Ashdown EB Combo or any Ashdown combo over 50w Wem Bass combo (the 30w valvey efforts)
3. Always fancied a go of one of these. Great price that too for a KT loaded all valver. Sure this wont be around long
4. Would get it fixed up but the only reason i bought it was that i ha a big old vintage valve rig and the combo was for smaller gigs/rehearsals. Downsized to a hybrid Ashdown now that is small enough for all needs. As such the carlsbto is just takin up space. Rennie has PM'd so on hold for now
5. Had this in the for sale section at £30. However, the combo has since developed a fault that may or may not be easily fixable. Basically the volume even at full whack is very low. This used to be a VERY loud 90w combo but the sound now is just very weak. Is bruised and battered with a few of the buttons cracked (they did work fine up until last week). Could just be a loose connection but as i want rid anyway i cant be bothered to get it seen to. As such free to first person who can collect from Didsbury, Manchester.
6. Kustom is a name ive always associated with catalogue starter packs etc but ive come across this on Thomann... http://www.thomann.de/gb/kustom_de610h.htm Just wonering if anyone had tried any of the new 'more upmarket' Kustom stuff. Not really in the market for a new cab but always fancied a 6x10 (ideally if Marshall made one to pair with the few of the dirt cheap VBA400's ive seen around!)
7.
Any & all of these will be up for sale just as soon as the market improves enough to get worthwhile prices.
Loving the Hiwatt, bet that sounds mean!
8. Up on Gumtree. As a BC Special ill chuck in a 90w Carlsbro Cobra combo too at £180
9. As i have an unhealthy obsession with Ashdown i got one of their Bassometer tuners. Its VERY precise and is techncally two tuners in one - the standard Ashdown UV meter acts as a tuner as well as a row of LED's. In the top right is a digital screen that tells you what note your playing. True bypass and i leave mine on once ive set up to act as a mute while my valves warm up until we play. Got mine off the bay for around £40. Some say the downside is the size of them - not a problem for me as i dont use a pedal board (or any other pedals for that matter)
10. Plus one on the 'buzziness'. When i tried one it sounded so 'fake valve sound'. Kinda like the old kays catalogue guitar amps with the distortion switch. I think OTB's try to nail a valve sound but sound more like an angry bee stuck in an ale can! If you want valve sound you can pick up a Sound City Valve amp for not much more than an OTB
11. cheers SlapbassSteve, guess its either sell cheap or keep. Really dont use it much at the mo but cant bring myself to let it go for peanuts
12. Had 2 pm's regardin the price of this. Both seem to suggest prices of between £120 and £150. Really dont want to sell for anything less than £200 given the mods and condition. I understand its a tough sellers market so ill probably keep it as a back-up for now
13. just to sling a great big grenade into the can of worms - what about hybrid amps?
14. This one hurts to do but its got to go to make way for my next project. My Squier VM telecaster bass with bloody loud humbucker pickup. Some say (including myself at first) that this bass would only do mud - mine is strung (string thru body BTW) with Roto flats and with the tone on it sounds amazing. Defined and packs a punch like no other bass ive had. A real 'thud' then pleasant ring to the tone. The neck is super fast, really comfortable to play and makes my P bass feel like a baseball bat. Bought a few months ago from Manchester Bass lounge and immediately did the following 'mods' 1) Custom made (BassDoc) white-Black-white guard. Why these basses didnt come with these as standard ill never know. Lokks so much better than the standard Black guard (which ill dig out and also suuply) 2) Added genuine fender bridge cover to give it the proper Telecaster look. 3) Bought a thumb rest to add under the humbucker but never fitted it - will supply also 4) Finally, fitted it with rotosound flats to give it a whackin great wallop to the sound. If desired ill restring it with the DR Fatbeam Rounds i stuck on it whilst waiting for the flats. Will supply a battered hard case that just does the job of protecting the bass. Its covered in Oasis clippings on one side and Beatles clippings on the other. Looks cool but weighs a tone and is battered. Good for storage tho. Poor quaily Iphone pic at the mo but will upload more soon Asking £230 ONO in total collected from Manchester. Will deliver locally if needs be
15. Could be about to take the plunge on an Epiphone Rivoli bass. However, a quick google search suggests its harder to source one than i thought. A few suggestions are a Jack Casady case but im fairly certain the contours and horns are bigger on the Rivoli than the Casady bass. Any Rivoli owners on here have a hardcase? If so where do i need to be looking for one?
16. Excellent. Many thanks lozbass. Sounds like a go-er to me, been after a hollowbody for ages and seeing the video for The Twang - We Are A Crowd reignited my gas. Alex, ill check my spam filter and will probbaly give you a call to discuss this week. Thanks for everyones help
17. cheers molan, gave that a try this morning so hopefully should get a reply soon
18. Anyone had any first hand experience with these beasts? Ive always been a fan of one big cab rather than a stack (i know i know) and this seems really up my street. Being a big Ashdown fan anyway i thought this would be a good (tho not similar) replacement for my current 414t cab. I know there are various opinions on here about mixing driver sizes but i had a 4x10 & 1x15 stack back in the day that sounded brilliant so dont see why this wouldnt sound good. Also anyone know what 10's would be in this (watts and ohms)?
