I just got Bassdoc on here to make me a WBW one. Sent him the original black off my tele and he sent me an exact match within a week. Dont know if he does the particular colour youre after but drop him a PM and see. Had about 4 guards off him now for various basses and all are excellent replacement fits

What sort of settings are you using for the SVT kind of sound?

Seems changing the valves in these is what most people have done. Ive read some varying stories of whats in there as stock. Some say they opened up to find 2 x ax7's and some say an ax7 and an another that slips my mind at this ungodly hour. What did you drop in it out of interest?

Seems the difference (other than obvious power) is the power stage of the 330 is the same as the old MAG series whereas the 550 is from an AMB 500. Id like to really crank the 330 but last time i played loud in there the sales staff all looked at me like id walked into their house on xmas day and pissed on their turkey

Went to my local PMT today to have a noodle on the Modern Player tele they have in there (loving tele's since getting my Squier!). Anyway, normally they have a lovely Ampeg BA300 SP combo to try their gear out with but today they had an Ashdown 4x10 (not sure if new style MAG or ABM) and the 330 head - the Spyder 550's little bro. I was very impressed with it to say the least. Obviously didnt crank it so not sure if it could handle my two guitarists and drummer who plays with hammers - but it did sound very sweet. I know there are a few 550 owners on here but anyone regularly use/gig the little un? Im working on selling my current rig and already have replacements lined up but the 330 could be something for a little fun and maybe gig, if it has the balls.

Its the Squier VM tele bass. Its not the string lengths that are the problem its just the bullet ends on the strings wont fit (well E string anyway into the ferrules). Ive since read that DR's seem to fit ok so ordered myself a set on ebay from america (cheaper than buying from UK!)

Just tried to fit some old roto's i had knockin round to my Squier VM telebass and found the bullet wouldnt fit into the ferule on the back of the body (string thru body). Never thought that certain ones might not so does anyone who own this bass know what strings will fit? In particular im thinking DR Fatbeams

would 4 x 16ohm speakers wired in parallel = a total ohmage of 4ohms?
-
Definately! The amps a wierd one that i cant find any info on. Its not an AH one, it just says GP12 Series 6 on it. Seems loud enough but could it be just a pre-amp?
Cheers, thats what i thought but the sound tech was unsure and seemed to think its 200w at 8ohm. Thanks for clearing it up
Just speaking to Drew at MBL. He's thinking of holding the occasional saturday afternoon bass forum - basically getting 3 or 4 bass players up there for a couple of hours to play basses, talk basses, drink coffee etc etc. He wants to hear what players think/want/need so that he can start to shape their intake of future basses. He's very opposed to coming on here an promoting his own business which is fair enough. I honestly have no connection to MBL other than a satisfied customer so i said id mention it on here to guage interest and see what people think

Ive been loaned this amp short-term while i try and sort my rig out. I know its output is 200w but i dont know if this is at 4 or 8 ohms. As my current cab is a 4ohm one am i getting the most out of this amp or should i be running it with an 8ohm one to get the full 200w?

Bumping an old thread here but after GASing after one of these badboys for ages and playing over a dozen in various shops i finally nailed one from Manchester Bass Lounge. What a bass! The neck is the most comfiest thing ive ever played, the bass practically plays itself. Still messing with it (im going to switch out the black plate for a white one etc) but im really digging it. I had a good few hours on it last night and when i picked up my previously comfy-necked Squier Affinity P it felt like a baseball bat neck in comparison. I normally hate maple necks but this bass is REALLY doing it for me right now! JUst cant decide whether or not to add the correct style bridge cover?

Righty oh then.....Went to the bass lounge last night. Walked in a i think my exact words were something along the lines of ''Faaaaaaaaaarkin 'ell''. Never have i seen such an amazing and vast collection of pre-owned basses in all my life. Vintage jazz's, P's, Rickenbacker, Sandbergs, a lovely Peavey T, Overwater, Squier.....just an amazing collection (plus coffee to die for!). I had pre-arranged with Drew which bass i wanted to have a good look at and he had it all ready and cleaned up. Before i even got to my bass i just drooled over the stock (in particular a 76 Jazz bass from Mark Coyles studio - Oasis techy person). Had a good long chat on the sofa's about basses, amps, gramma pads etc etc. Let me plug some basses into his SVT Pro7 and barefaced cab.....jut an amazing customer experience. Not only did he offer me a good part ex deal on my bass he had taken time to fully study and write down all the prices he'd seen for my bass and fully explained how he'd come to his valuation. Id recomend a visit to any BCer, just beware that (like me) if this place is local it could be VERY dangerous!!!! Cant speak highly enough of the place!

Im going over there tomorrow night for a look at a few of the Fenders. They've been really helpfull so far over the phone and emails so ill report back tomorrow with my findings. Me thinks ill be like a kid in a sweet shop - the fact they buy basses and/or part ex plus being local could make this a very dangerous find!
