1. Just tried to fit some old roto's i had knockin round to my Squier VM telebass and found the bullet wouldnt fit into the ferule on the back of the body (string thru body). Never thought that certain ones might not so does anyone who own this bass know what strings will fit? In particular im thinking DR Fatbeams
2. No probs, im using one on loan at the mo and the guy also says its 200w @ 8ohm yet everywhere suggests its 200w @ 4ohm. Do you know owt?
3. Did the head sell? Also would its full 200w not be at 4ohms instead of 8?
4. would 4 x 16ohm speakers wired in parallel = a total ohmage of 4ohms?
5. Definately! The amps a wierd one that i cant find any info on. Its not an AH one, it just says GP12 Series 6 on it. Seems loud enough but could it be just a pre-amp?
6.
Cheers, thats what i thought but the sound tech was unsure and seemed to think its 200w at 8ohm. Thanks for clearing it up
7. Just speaking to Drew at MBL. He's thinking of holding the occasional saturday afternoon bass forum - basically getting 3 or 4 bass players up there for a couple of hours to play basses, talk basses, drink coffee etc etc. He wants to hear what players think/want/need so that he can start to shape their intake of future basses. He's very opposed to coming on here an promoting his own business which is fair enough. I honestly have no connection to MBL other than a satisfied customer so i said id mention it on here to guage interest and see what people think
8. Ive been loaned this amp short-term while i try and sort my rig out. I know its output is 200w but i dont know if this is at 4 or 8 ohms. As my current cab is a 4ohm one am i getting the most out of this amp or should i be running it with an 8ohm one to get the full 200w?
9. Bumping an old thread here but after GASing after one of these badboys for ages and playing over a dozen in various shops i finally nailed one from Manchester Bass Lounge. What a bass! The neck is the most comfiest thing ive ever played, the bass practically plays itself. Still messing with it (im going to switch out the black plate for a white one etc) but im really digging it. I had a good few hours on it last night and when i picked up my previously comfy-necked Squier Affinity P it felt like a baseball bat neck in comparison. I normally hate maple necks but this bass is REALLY doing it for me right now! JUst cant decide whether or not to add the correct style bridge cover?
10. Righty oh then.....Went to the bass lounge last night. Walked in a i think my exact words were something along the lines of ''Faaaaaaaaaarkin 'ell''. Never have i seen such an amazing and vast collection of pre-owned basses in all my life. Vintage jazz's, P's, Rickenbacker, Sandbergs, a lovely Peavey T, Overwater, Squier.....just an amazing collection (plus coffee to die for!). I had pre-arranged with Drew which bass i wanted to have a good look at and he had it all ready and cleaned up. Before i even got to my bass i just drooled over the stock (in particular a 76 Jazz bass from Mark Coyles studio - Oasis techy person). Had a good long chat on the sofa's about basses, amps, gramma pads etc etc. Let me plug some basses into his SVT Pro7 and barefaced cab.....jut an amazing customer experience. Not only did he offer me a good part ex deal on my bass he had taken time to fully study and write down all the prices he'd seen for my bass and fully explained how he'd come to his valuation. Id recomend a visit to any BCer, just beware that (like me) if this place is local it could be VERY dangerous!!!! Cant speak highly enough of the place!
11. Im going over there tomorrow night for a look at a few of the Fenders. They've been really helpfull so far over the phone and emails so ill report back tomorrow with my findings. Me thinks ill be like a kid in a sweet shop - the fact they buy basses and/or part ex plus being local could make this a very dangerous find!
12. To try and get things moving.....any pre-gibo 410 trace elliots out there could be a deal?
13. Now THAT is a rig!!!! What Hiwatt cab is that?
14. One and only price drop before I give up on a new mini rig and stick with what ive got....£380

18. Now also on ebay. Will pull for reasonable BC offers
19. Would look great with my fender bassman cab im sellin haha
20. Forgot to mention. It comes with a Roqsolid custom made cover (unpadded version). This is very handy at keeping dust off the valves that sit right under the top vent
21. After many times of advertising and withdrawing this amp circumstances dicate it must go. Baby on the way and no longer need a rig of this size. Ill get pics up asap but for sale is my all valve Sound City B120 amp. Serviced early jan by Dave Lunt who replaced 4 of the 6 power valves (amp now has 2x Mullard and 4x Electro Harmonix). Full reciept from Dave will be given with the amp (total £160 worth of service work). Tolex is tatty and has been repainted black by the previous owner to hide the tears etc so cosmetically it isnt the best. However, the sound is great and the amp is in full working condition. Ive been using it in a tiny studio against a drummer who plays with rolling pins and it has kept up if a little distorted (not full on just a valve breakup sound you get when these are cranked). I bought this as my first foray into valves and it didnt disappoint. Lovely and warm when paired with my Bassman 2x15. The rig is set up in our Bolton studio so any trial is welcome with your cab/bass. Collection only im afraid but will deliver locally. Looking for £400 but if you want to fling an offer my way then go ahead. No trades at the moment im afraid. Looking to get the collection down to 1 bass and 1 combo. Sad day but I will put it about without a bob hat on, my bad Any questions please ask and ill either answer them or nag my personal online SC guru, Mr Foxen haha.
22. Mixed views havin looked at the cab. Whilst it felt weighty and looked well finished the drivers seemed a bit cheap. When i took the grill off and tested the speaker (this was before id even turned the amp on) by pushin them the centre of the speaker i.e the 'dome' part just scrunched one first touch. Severely dented and mashed up, should this happen?. I then plugged in thru the very impressive maxwatt matchin head. The cab sounded a bit 'light', not much bottom end but then i didnt really crank it too much. Main concern was the speaker centre crumpling like that, my cab is in the studio so cant compare at the mo but would this indicate poor quality drivers?
