3. Actually only £183 directly off the Chase website
4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHASE-CABINET-BASS-GUITAR-SPEAKER-CAB-400-W-HIWATT-B410-/390319920492?pt=UK_ConElec_SpeakersPASystems_RL&hash=item5ae0e1556c This is it. Going having a look on saturday while im in town. No-one tried/heard one then?
5. got a couple of pics last night but cant upload them from work (damn interweb police) but if anyone wants them emailed of my iphone let me know
6. Theres is a notoriously cheap/low end musoc shop here in Manc called Chase. They are advertisin the above cab on ebay at just over £230. Ive emailed to ask if they have them im the shop for me to go and have a try on saturday but just wondered if any other BCers had come across one? I fully understand theyll be a cheap far eastern cab with a Hiwatt badge slapped on but they are nice looking and a 400w 410 could be very usefull for me to have sitting in the studio. Cant link right now as im on me iphone but a quick ebay search should bring then up. Cheers,
7. It is 4ohms. Im at the studio tonight so ill get pics on on here asap
8. Consider trades for Ampeg 410 HLF also
9. If you were closer to Manchester (and id flogged my 2x15 cab) this would probably be sat under my valve amp in our studio now. GLWTS
10. would love it but distance is an issue, would also need to sell my 2x15 to fund it (and satisfy the mrs's obsession with 'space'). Good luck with the sale
11. **Complete Edit after stupid GAS moment** Whilst I still really want the SVT CL head and 610 cab ive realised my priority should be to give my current head a good go with a 610. The valves do sound brilliant if im honest and take my GAS specs off. The problem seems to be our drummer is an absolute animal and we all have to crank our gear to get heard. In my last band I never really even heard the valve breakup this amp pumps out. The new band means im almost maxing out and need a few more speakers I think to tighten up the sound and help cut through. I looked at the VBC 412’s on here and whilst they would be good I think its pointless me buying gear only to try and upgrade to the Ampeg stuff in the near future…. Anyway – Im now offering for sale or part-trade my Fender Bassman 2x15 cab. Fender Bassman 135 2x15 Cab Tall silverfaced 2x15 cab. Contains Emminece Gamma speakers to give a total handling of around 200w. Again tolex is tatty with a few 'flaps' that could do with gaffa taping back down. Silver cloth grill is in very good condition given its age. Looks like a proper old bass cab should, tall, silvery and oozing mojo. Im after the ampeg 610 as mentioned so would certainly entertain offers of one. Depending on condition I would obviously top up with cash from my end. Cash wise ill say £280 collected from Manchester or delivered within reason. Cab is set up in our studio in Bolton so if someone wanted to try their amp/bass through it that’s fine.
12. Im after tryin to clear up a bit of early breakup on my SC valve amp, i assume stickin these in would help but would i loose overall headroom?
13. +1 for Jack. Had a few basses pass through his very capable hands. Always a top job and really takes time out to see how you want it set up rather than just going right into it and setting up how he plays
14. Cheers for the help. I did consider switchin out the pre-amp valves for something less gainy but had also read lots of comments elsewhere on the SC's 'unique' eq so i think ill have a play with that first. My settings are usually (as you look at the amp front). Volume about 1-2oclock, Bass at 3o'clock, Mid at 1 - 2 oclock and treble on about 12'oclock. I use the normal input as opposed to brilliant and leave the presence at 12'oclock too. Ill try and turn them all down equally and boost the volume a little and see if that helps. Ive always been crap at eq'ing (even on solid states), you'd think id have the hang of it by now but like i say i believe the SC is a different beast so my 'usual' amp settings may not apply to SC
15. My project P bass faker on display in the studio last night
16. Very tempted by the VBC 4x12, this may be what i need to get more clean headroom from my Sound City 120 before the valve fuzz kicks in. Ill need to move some gear around but as soon as i do ill get in touch
17. Any chance a mod can move this to the amps section for a cack handed valve newbie please?
18. Last night at rehearsal we played a little louder than usual, not thrash but just a little cranked. I run my Sound City 120 through a fender bassman 2x15 and last night was using my flats loaded P bass. I had the volume at about half way and obviously got the usual valve 'fuzz' or break-up. I knew id get this but to think i was getting loads of it at only half volume (i say only but i know this is pretty loud). It has recently come back from Dave Lunt who gave it a full service, replaced some caps and a pre-amp valve. The valve was a like for like replacement. MY question is do SC's always break up at this kind of level and is there anything i can do to get it a little clearer at this level. Dont get me wrong, i love the valve break-up and fuzz but would just like a little more clean headroom before getting all down and dirty. Could it be i need to look at my cab? Would 2 15's be making my ampo work harder (as in with say a 6x10 would i get more 'volume' without cranking the amp so high?)
19. Look to cash in the Bison (maybe about £400 with its hard case), bank most of the dosh then keep my eye out for a used Squire VM tele bass
20. Over Xmas this GAS decision has come back. To the point now where im thinking of just doing it. The bison has all the reciepts from its set ups, fret dresses etc since ive had it. Plus ive got a Hiscox case for it so i would say in total i would want around £400 for it, this should leave me with enough to source a second hand Squire TB, get a parchment p/guard for it from Bassdoc and fit the relevant bridge cover. Hmmmmm should i sleep on it?
21. Cool, thanks for that Monckyman. Im over at the outlaws until late next week but will get in touch when im back.
22. Im thinking about getting some castors fitted to my 2x15. Not sure where ill take it to do this but hopefully ill find somewhere local. My main question is do people notice a difference in stage sound at all? Im slightly concerned that having my cab raised will loose some of the juicy rumble from it. What castors do people recomend? Finally does anyone know of anywhere in the North West that fits them seeing my DIY skills end and fitting new p bass pups!
