I bought one of these a while back from the states on Ebay. Cost me about £60 brand new. I wanted the Eldorado style strap look without their massive prices. However, i dont use it much anymore as i now play the bass a bit lower. Still in immaculate condition and the holes that go over the strap buttons are still nice and stiff. Tooled 'Acorn' carving in the strap with heavy duty silver and gold coloured metal work. Very tasty! Will post a picture soon but in the meantime this is the stock picture ive found on google http://www.music123....d483331.product *SOLD*

This past two years ive really developed a taste for vintage looking and sounding basses and backline. Ive probably posted before but so happy with my current set-up. Had a crazy few days where i considered off loading the Bison for a Squier VM precision TB bass. Whilst i still want one i could never get rid of the Bison n for a wierd reason i dont like to have more than 2 basses at any one time....cant decide which to gig Anyway, enjoy...

Quick check. No date stamps on neck. There is a wierd tiny logo tho, it looks like a 'Q' with a 'B' inside the circle of the Q. tiny 1cm size logo

I shall. Im pretty certain its just the neck plate that MIGHT be real fender, The neck is a big chunky P bass neck with jumbo frets, it has a fender decal but fairly obviously added. Im flogging the body and neck, it started off as a project that i got bored off. Im pretty sure they are Sunn Mustang but i will check neck and pots codes

Got a bitsa P bass a while back and was told the neck plate was original fender. Thought nowt of it but just put the serial number printed on it into the Guitar Dater Project site and apparently its.... Your guitar was made at the Fullerton Plant (Fender - CBS Era), USA in the Year(s): 1976
Terror Bass.. If you like valve.. You won't be disappointed.. It's like valve without the hernia.. I would probably change the valves to some less hot one. Markbass are great, the bridge between hifi and valve... a nice neutral sound
Only my humble opinion but for a nice vintagey 2x15 id stick to proper valve amps. Mine packs loads of valvey goodness from the SC head. To me the whole 'valve' thing is done by the power valves, i really dont think the hybrids (orange TB etc) are even close to real valve amps

You thought of the Sound City 120's? Im using one with a 2x15 fender bassman cab and have more than enough headroom and no breakup until i REALLY drive and dig in (i like a little valve breakup on the bottom notes). I was selling mine but came to my sences and am now keeping hold. Wooks on here was selling an immaculate one tho. Out of interest what wattage is the bassman copy?

Looking at the old vintage Fender P's on here ive noticed that the older tuning keys seem to have really long 'stems'. They seem to stick out over the headstock by quite a way. Are there any companies (cheaper than buying proper vintage ones) that sell these? Ive got several sets on elephant ears keys but not that have this long stem feature

As some of you know im one of very few on here who absolutely love my Burns Bison bass. Love the looks, feel and tone. Only thing i dont like is the number of options on it, i prefer something with volume n tone and thats it. I recently got myself a squier P project that i have mocked up to look like an old 70's P (burst and tort) and as such im really into the whole vintage fendery thing. So much so that im thinking of getting rid of all my basses (inc the Bison) and just keeping the Squier P......and once of these bad boys... http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~Squier-Vintage-Modified-Precision-Bass-TB~ID~6973.asp Im selling my pino copy in the for sale section so im now really tempted to offer my Bison to get me on of these Squier VM's. Please someone talk me out of it. LeftBiskit didnt help much last night when he said ''Just buy one''

What's the most you've paid for an amp service?
If that's with David Pye it's money very well spent.
It certainly was, taking him up on the quote after payday -
I know theres a stigma attached to the name Encore. However, these early 90's one really are decent bits of kit as opposed to the ones you see in argos today. See this old BC discussion on them... My completed project was a pleasure but its really just being an ornament at the moment so im offering it up for sale here. After much research I believe it is an early 90’s encore. There is a thread on the Bass Guitar section of this site that discusses them. I got it off the bay where it was advertised as a Squire with a fender decal. The bass was filthy when I got it and so after a good clean up I decided I wanted to get the Pino/Classic Vibe Squier look with tort plate. I whipped the useless stock pups out and the corroded wiring. Fitted a custom built (mini pots) Kiogon harness and some Axesrus pickups (very impressive set with same specs as wizard thumpers but potted) and straight away the bass sounded miles better. I got Howard (Bass Doc ) to knock me up a custom tort pickguard from the original white one (very retro, naturally yellowed which ill chuck in with the sale). New pickguard screws from axesrus (the old ones were severely corroded) and a thumb rest/tug bar. Swapped out the weird string tree for a more ‘fendery’ one I had in my parts box All cleaned up and fitted I did a full set-up and got the action comfortable for me. Being a pick player it is still slightly high but there is plenty of ‘go’ left in the truss and saddles to lower it. Id say at a push it may need a new nut, either that or just re-grooving a little. Previous owner applied some sort of Fender decal (dosent appear to be waterslide) and this is under a few layers of laquer and what looks like light wood stain. The tuners are VERY good and resemble the early Reverse tuners very well. The neck is rather chunky. Not that wide exactly but certainly more C shaped than D (if that makes any sense!). So in total:- Bass - £65 Pups - £25 Wiring - £25 P/Guard - £20 (I think) Screws - £3 TugBar - £5ish Picato Flats - £15 + set up and damn good clean by me

£158.00
Welcome to come and try it out through my rig (or yours if you want to cart it J. Price wise ill accept £130 with no trades at the mo and not really desperate to get rid so no offers (yet haha). Pics to follow although there are some on the most recent page of the Precisions thread of the gear porn section. Any questions let me know EDIT: Further investigation seems to suggest it could also be a Sunn Mustang - sorry for the vagueness!
