  1. Agreed. Huge Queen fan but ive not gone to see the current incarnation. Just seems Roger and Brian and selling the soul of the whole thing. Shame really. Another opportunity for me to announce that my 11yr old lads middle name is Deacon after John, much is my love of queen in years gone by
  2. The 500w ashdown with valve pre may be the spyder? In which case…if only i was more local!
  3. Im a dyed in the wool flats player but they just arent working for my current band/project. I loved the 7150's as i like their fundamental and the fact they had nice (high) tension. Im working out if i could get away with those rather than going NPS or Steel. I hate zingy rounds but needs must at the moment, even moving from my favourite Elites flatwounds to more twangy Fender flats hasnt brought the necessary amount of drive/clarity/grit
  4. Fitted to a P bass for 2hours play but completely uncut. New project needs rounds Price can include UK postage
  5. I have a F embossed jazz bass bridge cover. Great condition but no screws currently, im sure ill have some used one in my parts box though. £15 collected or chuck £3 on for UK postage
  6. Im not remotely an expert on these things but when did Fender bring in the bullet truss rod on the 70's jazzes? Was that later along with the 3 bolt neck plate?
  7. I keep toying with the idea of just selling everything gear wise and retiring to a nice vintage bass, a B15 and just noodle away pressure free at home. This is the current ''this is the one'' bass https://reverb.com/uk/item/72076949-fender-jazz-bass-1974
  8. Took my Orange Terror Bass MK1 to rehearsal last night to be met with the studios in house Ampeg fridge.  Excitedly plugged in.......pure mud :(  Ordered some rounds to help (this band doesnt suit my usual flats) and may look at valve changes in the OBT.  Very disappointed

I had the original MK1 amp for around 12 years, then all of a sudden I stopped liking the sound of it. It also sounded very muddy, even with new strings, treble turned up etc etc. Not sure if the amp had changed, or just my ears/tastes changed but I ended up selling it.

I then ordered one of the new MK2 amps, and I didn't like that either so it went back.

I still have the SP212 cab, but bought an Alpha Omega 500 head to go with it

Those amps are not flat with the knobs all at mid point. Try putting the bass at zero and the mid at max, then add bass and treble until it sounds decent.

I use one of these at a venue I play at regularly and I have to boost the mids and take the bass down to zero to get a usable sound onstage.

  9. Final bump before i take this to be traded in. Also, used it at rehearsal tonight so it is now currently wearing rounds
  10. Sure, ill bring my orange bass terror home from the studio tonight and lay something down
  11. Chromes to me sound too much like rounds. I prefer the fenders as they mellow down nicely whereas the chromes seem to retain their metallic clank
  12. Back in the day they used to dish out £10 vouchers if you wrote a review of a purchase
  13. Is the Orange tiny terror the same size as the Bass Terror does anyone know?  Im after a new gig bag for my BT500 but nowhere seems to stock the OEM Orange gig bag for them

  14. I bought a vintage Ampeg fliptop from NKR Vintage and can vouch for their awesomeness
  15. Looking to move on my Fender Bassman 1200 as used by the Zutons (if you are interested :)). This is essentially the rebadged and improved Sunn 1200, a hybrid 2u rack mountable head. The head features 2 channels - channel 1 is the 'normal' channel and Channel 2 is the over drive channel. Each powered by a separate 12AX7 and blendable to give a really nice gritty, valvey driven type sound if thats your thing. Each channel has seperate input volumes, channel 2 has a further Gain option and then there is a blend pot to give real versatility. Further more a graphic EQ lets you really tailor the sound along with the onboard compressor. Recently serviced by Mike Powell of MPAV Services where a new volume pot was fitted along with the 4 output jacks. This is a seriously powerful head giving around 800w at 4ohms and the full 1200 at 2 ohms. It currently resides in a 4u flight case but ive also got a carpet covered 2u sleeve on the way for a more space friendly head :). As always collection would be from Bolton but i do travel around a bit so always up for meet ups etc. full pics to follow asap.
  16. Price drop to £575 due to ebay pricing. Also i am visiting Sheffield on Wednesday this week and then Walsall/Birmingham next Thursday if that helps anyone who may be interested but struggling with distance
  17. No problem, he did a superb job on my Fender Bassman and his workshop had all sorts of eclectic musical equipment dotted round
  18. As above Mike at MPAV services Bolton take on all sorts of audio stuff, hifi, PA right through to Guitar/bass amps. Highly recomended
  19. My E numbered MIJ 57ri P has a pencil date on the neck (85) rather than a stamp? Do you have any pics?
