  1. Thank you dear friend!
  2. Hello friends! There hasn’t been anything new in this thread for a long time, so I remember to post to you recordings of my pickups and preamp on a fretless jazz bass. Happy listening! Fretless JB + MultiTone pickups_preamp - example 1.mp3 Fretless JB + MultiTone pickups_preamp - example 2.mp3 Fretless JB + MultiTone pickups_preamp - RAV VAST.mp3 Fretless JB + MultiTone pickups_preamp - ethno1.mp3
  3. I would prefer not to put filters when connecting single pickups, and the usual humbuckers. This is applicable with a typical size like wal
  4. Yes, these little things give a tangible result
  5. Good day to all! As promised, I recorded a sound comparison using a tsobel filter, and without. 1 half of it is with the use of a filter, the second half without it. Неизвестен - Без названия (1).mp3
  6. Hello everyone I made a small video review, clicked the settings a little, I think everything will be clear 3333333 (video-converter.com).flv
  7. I quickly sketched out a small sample L.mp3
  8. Hello friends! In general, all installations are completed, and final conclusions can be drawn. These sounds rock the low frequencies very much. Despite the fact that I use the original Zobel filter, it feels great. With the tsobel filter disabled, there are so many low ones that you begin to understand the expediency of using it
  9. Since I cast the casings myself, it takes a certain amount of time, and is the most difficult stage. The height of the pickups eventually amounted to 25 mm.
  10. Yes, I am currently busy casting 5-string cases in p2 format (bartolini). I estimate the interstring distance under the bridge at an average of 17.5 mm
  11. I used steel cores with a diameter of 5 mm. Of these, I built coils with a height of 11 mm and a diameter of 13 mm. He wound a wire with a diameter of 0.05 mm, about 10,000 turns. As a result, I completely filled the coil, and reached the resistance of 2k5. The final resistance of the pickup when connecting the coils in series-in parallel came out 1k2. The capacitance was about 80 pf, and the inductance was about 1.8 Henry. This is ideal for preamp, it remains only to adjust the peak attack, which is also done in the original scheme. I used ceramic magnets. Since the standard length of the steel rod is 15 mm, taking into account the coil and the board, the gap between the magnet and the coil was 3 mm. This is more than acceptable. Although, even if the magnet was lying close, it wouldn't bother me
  12. Hello everyone, friends! Today I finished the first set of pickups in multicoil format. I changed the form factor a bit, but kept all the original coil arrangements. I will make the first samples soon, it remains only to install them in the bass.
  13. Thank you very much! This is the best compliment!
  14. The one who made the recordings has not yet understood all the nuances, the same sound periodically slips through, but he still has everything ahead of him!
  15. You're right, my friend!
  16. the 4th track is really jazz bass, but the 1st is not washburn) I think it's easiest to do on the B string :))
  17. Hello dear friends! It's been a long time since I've written anything about my achievements in building preamp. Finally, we managed to sit down more thoroughly, and make a small recording, and for greater interest we will do it in the form of a blind test. There are 4 different basses recorded here, among which there is washburn with my copy of wal. All bass guitars are stacked in a mix of software with one volume level, and with on-board adjustments. No external equalization was performed. Can you guess which one is which?) AUD-20240822-WA0010.mp3 AUD-20240822-WA0009.mp3 AUD-20240822-WA0008.mp3 AUD-20240822-WA0007.mp3
  18. Hi friends! I made several boards and sent them to musicians I know so that they could test them in operation under various extreme conditions.
  19. No, you don't need to add 6k8.
  20. in most cases it can be used without a capacitor. But there are cases when the network component can go through the common wire. In this case, it is broken. Of course, you can not put a capacitor, and it will work, but personally I would leave it, because it will not make things worse
  21. Well yes, the ground is common
  22. A resistor is not required, but a capacitor is usually installed. This is a ground lift.
  23. The transformer does not affect the timbre. Even if it is of better quality, the less influence it has on the frequency response. A bad transformer with high-impedance signals "eats" low frequencies. That is why expensive matching transformers have high inductance on the primary winding. Well, a regular LC filter. In the case of a wal ea transformer, a low-impedance signal is received, so the inductance value on the primary winding does not matter at all. You can even install a network transformer the only question will be in the transfer ratio
  24. I think that "that same wal" is more about signal limitation, and of course it is due to wideband pickups. My input stages pull up weak harmonics, if in general, it certainly helps me to work with simple coils
  25. This is fantastic! More than developing electronics, I lose my head over developing guitar designs! I find the solution of making handles myself very correct and original! Such instruments, into which you put your soul at their "birth", you love them with a special love!
