Just sold a bass to Dan. A very straightforward chap to deal with and I concur with all the previous positive posts on this feedback thread.

This is the second Stingray I have owned in this colour, known as translucent Gold. It's an ash body. I recently had it dated by the Ernie Ball forum and it is a 2007 model. I bought it from a shop close to where I live and it was for sale on behalf of a guy who was moving abroad. He had not played it for some considerable time evidently and it showed. After I got it home, I cleaned and oiled the fretboard, polished the frets, put new strings on, and have been really enjoying it for the past 8 months. Weight is 4.3kg or 9.5lbs. Overall condition is very very good. There is one small ding on the top horn as can just about be seen in the pic but I have to point out a slight anomaly in the finish just between the bridge and control plate. I didn't even pick this up when I bought the bass, and you cannot see it from a couple of feet away, but it can be seen in the close-up pic below. It appears to be either excess colour or topcoat. As I say, it never bothered me (am I am fastidious about these things) and the rest of the instrument is very clean. Soundwise, it is every bit a Stingray but quite smooth by comparison to some I have played. It is a perfect match for the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 and TKS 1x15 I also own and is currently strung with Ernie Ball nickels. There is a set of 40-95 Cobalt flats included - had them on for a couple of hours play time, if that. Also includes EB branded hard case. £800 includes UK p&p. No trades I'm afraid, Paypal gift or bank TR at cash on collection from TA6. SOLD! Scott Whitley SWB-1 s-s 'ergo' special
GILLY replied to scrumpymike's topic in Basses For Sale
I played this bass a couple of days ago and it is the easiest bass I have played since trying out a mate's Alembic Stanley Clarke a while back. There are two contrasting Scott Whitley vids that show how versatile these basses are. I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread Mike?! https://youtu.be/WPRHOREILgw https://youtu.be/xDrR6SGoNdw -

Just sold an amp to Tobie and I have to say that he was a pleasure to deal with; made me an offer I was cool with, paid me very promptly, and was good enough to update me when it arrived safely. Thumbs up from me.

Stringbusters Reliability/Customer Service (WARNING - AVOID THEM!)
GILLY replied to TomWIC's topic in General Discussion
I had a problem with them some weeks back when waiting for strings. I did get through on the phone and was told by the owner that he had had some serious health problems and that someone was running the business on his behalf (badly it seems). If I recall, they were out of stock of a set I ordered that showed as being 'in stock' but they had omitted to tell me this was the issue. I was offered an immediate refund but chose an alternative set and these arrived ok, but the overall experience was maybe two weeks from order to receipt and I lost confidence in them at that point. It's a shame really because, up until then, I found them to be really on the ball. -
Which model do you have, is it the new H115? Cheers, Eude
Indeed it is. 14kg of low frequency goodness. God knows how they manage to get a 15" speaker into such a small enclosure.

I agree with Higgie. In fact, I set the gain on mine at just above zero and just use the drive to get the sound I'm after. This doesn't add grit as you might expect, it tightens up the bass and treble in rather a nice way. Also, even though I have an active bass, I do not engage the -10db button ahead of the preamp. Three years ago I had a Stingray/Th500/TKS 115 rig and have tried various other combinations of bass and rig in the interim only to be back to exactly the same rig in 2017, and very happy with it too.

Another advocate for TKS here, although mine is a 1x15. It's the size and weight of a 1x12 with the kick and presence of a 4x10. In fact, when it arrived I thought I had been sent the wrong cab because it is so compact. The great thing about this cab is the dispersion of sound, even if you are standing very close.

I had the pleasure of seeing Chic a couple of years ago and was struck by how harsh and brittle Nile's guitar sounded in isolation. However, bring the rest of the band in and the guitar part sounded brilliant!

Just had the absolute pleasure of meeting Paul to pass over a pedal be has bought from me. A gentleman and very discerning musician. I very much hope our paths cross again sometime.

Recently sold a cab to Dean and, although we never spoke in person, the to and fro text and PM dialogue was all very friendly and trusting. Pleasure doing business with him.
