SOLD ****TECAMP PUMA 500 £365 price drop inc p&p
GILLY replied to GILLY's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale

This was coming up for sale soon anyway, regardless of the recent 'news'. I bought it from Bass Direct 22nd July last year, so it is not yet 6 months old. It has been fabulous and faultless and is the only head I have ever owned that I have not fussed and fiddled with the eq. The flat sound is what I would describe as 'warm clean' and watt for watt the equivalent to the Tone Hammer 500 that it replaced in volume terms. I, like many others on this forum, am working my way through all the top brands and have already taken delivery of this one's replacement. Condition is as new. I have the original box and instruction manual and my asking price of £365 includes UK mainland delivery. I have a 6 month old Puma 500 and sent Bass direct an email to ask if the warranty is sound in view of the situation. Here is Mark's reply: Hi -= your warranty is fine, Tecamp are just changing their name to Eich Amplification.

Which one is louder: Tecamp 500 or Aguilar Th500?
GILLY replied to Radchenko's topic in Amps and Cabs
My last amp was a TH500 and my current one is a Puma 500. I would say that they are very evenly matched in terms of volume output but, as has been said further up, the two differ in sound. The TH500 I had was a fabulous amp - very classy to look at, sounded glorious but the drive feature was lost on me. Aesthetically, the Puma is a little cheap looking but sounds punchy and clean. The eq points are also exactly where I like them and the 'Taste' control is brilliant. I added a second cab to my TKS 115 at yesterday's rehearsal and everybody in the band said how amazing the sound was. -
And the answer is 1/2" Fitted them tonight and as an added bonus they fit using one of the existing screwholes on the back of the headstock so no drilling required. I bought the Licensed ones from a seller on Ebay in the USA.
Would you say that the weight saving is noticeable? I have a BB1024 and thought I might go the same route until I saw the prices!

Any bass without fretboard dots. They just look unfinished to me.

Sold Nick my Stingray in what must be a record BC transaction in terms of speed from price agreement to handover. Great doing business with him and very much hope to do so again in the future.

BUMP for a significant price drop to £675 inc p&p within UK. I had a PM asking about the neck profile and finish. The neck is not in any way chunky, as some describe them, and the action is low. The neck is unfinished on this model but is polished with gun stock wax every 6 weeks or so and is silky smooth as a result.

Much respect for Geoff. Not only did he sell me a pristine Yamaha bass, but he went several extra miles (literally) when Interparcel and UPS decided not to collect it from him two days running. He ended up driving to the nearest depot himself. He was also on the phone, texting and emailing constantly whilst we both tried to get the bass away. I would also like to leave feedback for his wife, who was needlessly housebound for two days waiting for couriers!! Many thanks to you too.

I can only speak as a seller, but would recommend Gareth without reservation based on (quite) a few PMs to and fro during the sale and delivery of my Aguilar amp. I hope to deal with him again at some stage.

Bought this bass from Mansons in August 2013. The colour is Translucent Gold. Never been a fan of natural finishes but this is really classy. Body wood is Ash I believe. Rosewood fingerboard. There is one little knock on the very top of the headstock, which happened on the very day I bought this bass (see photo) but it is otherwise unmarked. 9lbs according to the bathroom scales, which surprised me because it always felt light. I should point out that I had a Nordstrand MM4.2 pickup installed, but I kept the original and it will be supplied with the bass. This alone was a £100 upgrade, and well worth it in my opinion. It still sounds exactly like a Stingray but with a more even response across all four strings and a slightly more 'contained' top end. I certainly wouldn't go back to the original, but there is that option. The bass comes with a Musicman hard case. p&p certainly an option or could meet within 30 miles M5 J23. CASH SALE ONLY THANKS. The credit card got the better of me today and I have yet another high end amp on its way to me, so this one is now up for grabs. It is virtually unmarked and includes the official Aguilar hand bag. Great with the TKS cab that I own, pics to follow this evening. P&P included in the asking of £435 ovno

Just a heads up for you Stingray 4 Players
GILLY replied to mrn1989's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Just took delivery of one for my 2013 SR4 and it fits like a glove. Thanks for the recommendation. -
Well I never! Just fired mine up and it is exactly the same as yours.
That's lovely! How's the weight of it?
It's really not heavy (16kg ish) and easy to lift with one hand. My only gripe is that there is no handle on the top. I say gripe, but it's really just an observation. In all other respects, this is a superb piece of kit and I loves it!

I should have explained that the pics above are of my H115 (old model). I had the tweeter added before it left the manufacturer.

Yes, it's one of the tall versions. Sat on my homemade Gramma pad, the whole rig is at a decent height for stage monitoring. I omitted something quite important in my review, and this is to confirm what others have said about the construction quality of TKS cabs - top notch in every respect.

I bought one of the discontinued cabs last October, but only got to gig it last night. Up until then my only band experience with it has been in the confines of a rehearsal room at a local recording studios. The cab is an H115, to which I had a tweeter fitted before it left TKS. Amp is an Aguilar TH500 and bass is a 2013 Stingray 3eq with cobalt strings. The gig was in a village hall, better than most of its kind because the natural acoustics were ok when it was empty, but larger than most pubs I would say. Only the vocals went through the pa, the rest of the band consisting of one guitar, keyboards, drums, and bass. The stage was one of those hollow sounding modular affairs so I was glad I took my homemade Gramma pad. My biggest concern was I wouldn't have the horse power to fill a room of that size and I have spent the last two weeks trying to decide what cab to add to the TKS in order to get the full beans out of the TH500 and add some midrange that I perceived the TKS was lacking(based on the rehearsal room experience you understand). I didn't buy anything as it happens, so turned up with lowish expectations. How wrong was I... We set up and I adjusted the amp to boost in the low mids (400hz I estimate), turned the volume up to 12 o'clock and off we went on a sound check, with a muso friend stood at the back of the hall to have a listen. The first revelation was that I was asked to turn down a bit, to the point where my volume was exactly where it normally sits in rehearsals. The second, and very best bit about the cab, is that I could hear every single note in every single song (whoops) as a solid, clear, well defined punch all the way up the fretboard and into the second octave. Midrange was there in abundance and my stingray sounded just fabulous. You couldn't tell if the cab was a 4x10 or a 2x12 or a 1x15 because it sounded like it could have been any of those cabs! [As a side note, I have found that if you boost mids on the Ray a little, then there is little change in the sound, but if you decrease bass by the same amount there is a significant increase in mids. I then add a bit of bass at the amp to compensate, and there is the sound I'm after]. I bought the H115 on a whim and then spent some time wondering if I should have waited for a 2x12(everyone else was). After last night's experience I am convinced that I made the right choice and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a one cab solution. I believe you need a tweeter to bring out harmonics but I had mine set at 20% and this added a little top end sparkle without sounding harsh. I shall add to the Aguilar TH500 review in a bit because this particular amp adds to the TKS experience in quite a special way.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, how do you manage it?
GILLY replied to Horizontalste's topic in General Discussion
Have the op but resist the temptation to look at Youtube procedures first!! Seriously though, the worst bit was the local anaesthetic (stings a bit) but the operation is really quick and you cannot see anything, nor are you aware of what is going on. Within three days I was noodling on the bass (had my fretting hand done) and but the time the stitches came out ( 5 at 10 days), my hand was back to normal. The best bit....The pins and needles stopped immediately.
