1. Never had mine distort on the clean channel. As said it sounds like the preamp on the bass is hot. Easily sorted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9x1TNtUKI0
2. I bring a spare strings and a pair of fresh socks. Thats it. You provide the entertainment, not clean up others ineptitude.
3. Pick up another instrument for a few days. usually works for me.

Jaysus its a bit of a minefield really. Depends on what you want. Ballads, songs for voice or songs for dance. Personally I hate most of the stuff but can recommend Planxty highly. Others worth a look are The Chieftains and the Clancy brothers band. Its not the best genre for bass. There's very little in trad TBH and the natives don't take too kindly to deviations from the main theme. Some of the 12/8 and 9/8 jigs are fun to stick a slap line over though.
9. Just to return the favour heres a band we used to play with, sadly finished up for the moment. BEST SONG EVA! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-_Q_CY3XME
10. Cheers for the replies lads. Checking out Black Moth as I type. Been through most of the bigger names and needed something fresh. Listening to Undersmile a lot lately. More sludge/doom than stoner but they still have a nice desert vibe going on in places. Edit: Block Moth are Fookin savage!
11. Anyone here play in a Stoner/Desert rock band? Looking for some new bands to listen to.
12.
Really excited to get more of these posted.
I sure nobody would object to some fresh reading material tonight.....
13. I love it! The freedom is great. I think its a great way to grow as a bassist.
14. Some great stuff in this already, looking forward to next installment. Any chance of getting this pinned?
15. sh*tehawks! I'll keep a eye out on this side lad.
16. Didnt know we had a Spector thread. I must get a decent snap of my two. In the meantime a live shot will have to suffice. (Rebop 4 Zebrano)
17. Thats coming up Millhouse! Great work lad. BTW, Spector have started selling replcaement bridges with intonation screws online if you fancy changing the older model.
18. Guitard: 'the wife just entered the three of us into a song contest..............................................again'
19. For a Gallagher tribute what you have is fine. Maybe add a chorus and wah and your sorted for classic rock.
20. This is something I've thought about on occasion. On a fretted bass does it have a major impact on the tone? Surely the fret wire will have more of an influence. I've heard it said that maple gives a warmer/brighter tone than Rosewood.
21. Give these a look lad http://www.drstrings.com/catalog/ddt-bass-strings
22. Sound, was looking through the casey conner site but it aint great. The Meinl patent wasnt much better.
23. Looking to build a (flamenco) Cajon for my brother as a bday present. Anyone know where I can get decent schematics?

25. Had a noodle on one last Thursday. Typical Yamaha TBH. Great tone, the balance was spot on and the construction was rock solid. Can't fault it really. If it came to a choice between it and a yank Fender Id take the Yamaha.
Only James Lomenzo's custom jobbies have the maple board.
J Lo. Is there anything he hasn't endorsed?
