1. Not with the fretless. I've heard them on youtube and they sounded ok. I really like some of the Brice stuff, I have the fretted 6 string version of this. The preamps aint all that but pre's are fairly cheap nowadays. I'd say go for it.
2. I really think the neck shape/profile issue is irrelevent. Surely if you switch between 4,5 & 6 string basses then neck width shouldnt be an issue. Just adjust the position of the bass to get a comfortable one. Tone wise Spectors are more versitile. Looks wise premium Warwicks are the winner. Depends on what you're after really. Both have fallen into an association with metal bands which is unfortunate because they really are not a one trick poney. Personally (and this is saying a lot from a Warwick freak) I'd say if you want a bass that will cover everything and look good, without breaking the bank then Spector wins hands down.
3. They should just kill the whole product list and bring back the Urge. Job done!
4. Cheers lad. I just opened it up and had a gander. Everything seems to be ok so I'm stumped. I dont think it'll be a problem for anyone using it.
5.
MB1. Snake handler Perhaps? bigger combo definately!
Priceless. 10 watts is loads, no mikes used so its not even going up past 1\3. My 30watt laney was overkill last night.
6. Another +1 for Peavey. Solid as fook.
7. Hi guys. A group of guitarist friends and I are starting to run an acoustic/jam session in our local every third Thursday with a view to getting some of the younger musicians out of the bedroom and into a live performance situation. I picked up a SH Hiwatt Hurricane that can be left in the local and used by whoever needs it. Tone wise its grand, I'm not expecting anything much from a 10watt, but there is a constant hissing coming from the amp with the occasional sizzle. This happens even when the volume is at 0. Any ideas for a quick fix or what may be causing it?
8. Ah Blues-Rock, the great provider! Freebird is actually a VERY busy song. Like many of their tracks IMO. TBH I wouldn't jettison the old band either, regular work is hard to come by. I would make it clear to them that the new band is not a threat and may result in less gigs for the group but that it is something you need to do for your own enjoyment. If they cant be professional enough to understand this then theres no point playing with them.
9. The tele is £400 notes @ G4M. Sounds good to me.
10. The easiest way to put it is all pickups have different outputs. Some are just hotter than others. I find that the DiMarzio model P's in my vox are way louder than any P style pup I've come across and the EMG's in my spector are louder than the MEC's in the wicks. After that you can factor in preamps, pup position etc. It all has a bearing.
11. Plenty of spare strings obviously, a good DI box, two spare cables, superglue and for non gear items: socks and lots of them (thrust me on that one, nothin better to pick you up on a long trip after a show), antacids, lots of those too. Pub and garage food can be hellish. + the usual change of clothes/condoms/toothbrush etc.
12. Another one for Tye Zamora here. I'll also add: Dee Murray Ron Carter Jeff Ament Mike Inez Pat Badger Tom Hamilton Philip Bynoe Bob Daisley Mog Noel Redding John Paul Jones ........ ....... ....
13. Those Stellahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! giutars aint great. Real budget stuff. I'd look at secondhand Ibby and Peavey tbh. I picked up a fretted version of this last year and it was great. Even better when I changed the preamp. These go seriously cheap sh. 14. 25 years ago today peeps. Love him or hate him it cant be denied that he had a major impact on the instrument.
15. Lower string gauge would be the next step I reckon. 95's maybe?
16. Tiz a tough one for sure. I have different preferences for different styles but I'd have to go with these two. (in order) Maybe I should use a pick more often
17. I just use Surgical swabs or GHS Fast Fret if I'm out of stock. I usually get an extra two gigs out of a set by cleaning before and after shows.
18. Often get this on the covers scene. Theres nothing you can do about it except turn up to the gig with the appropriate gear. For venues such as this we just use POD's through the PA and the drummer has to use Rods. You do the job thats in front of you, simple as. If the drummer and guitarist cant be professional enough to deal with it shaft them.

I've only played through the WT800 but it was a nice rig. The Eq was certainly more versatile than anything I've come across on a Mesa. As JTUK was saying the quality has apparently dropped a little. On pro bassist I know has had his back to a tech a good few times with suspected overheating issues.
20. I really like DiMarzio Model P's. They have the right balance between punch and growl IMO. About £60 I think. Plus you can wire them up to a series/parallel switch for a bit of diversity.
21.
What the...!? An SS1 for about £430. I need to get out of London...

Wow, an SS1 for £430. Thats amazing although I got my Streamer LX Jazzman for £500 which is a bargain. An SS1 though is just crazy.
Not really, you just need to know where to hit. Didn't someone on here pick up an EBMM in cash converters for something like £100 a few months back. Sometimes people dont know what they are bringing into a SH store. As Homer said 'Stratawhovious??' It pays to worship at the alter of............
22.
I have four '4' string basses. 2 fretted and 2 fretless. I was thinking about dropping that down to just the two. I sat down today and played them all in turn. I really did think that it would jump out at me which ones to lose. I decided in the end that four is not excessive and I really did not want to part with any of them. It was a great couple of hours and made me really smile Those of you with mutiple basses, do you have a day like that and just play them all to really get a feel for them? My 5 string fretless just sat on it's stand looking upset and unloved
Of the 12 basses about 8 get regular play. it depends on what I'm doing, (tuning, style etc) Moved on my beloved Yamaha recently, BIG MISTAKE!
23.
Are you saying that you've found and bought a NT Streamer Stage I for 480 Euro (about £430)?
Yep, its a buyers market at the mo. Having said that it wasn't in great condition, but its nothing a few months wont sort out. Edit: To add to the point, JCM 800's are selling for about 250-300 euro in places, those are like gold dust 'round here.
24. I'd be looking at secondhand Hartke or Trace Elliot for that price range. It would be easy enough to pick up a HA 3500 and a 410 xl for around £300-£400.
25.
Mog it's actually a friend of a friend selling it. It's up on adverts at the mo. I have it for the weekend to give it a shot. Just trying to work out what a fair price is given that over here it seems like nothing is selling at all... everyones broke. It feels good to play, but I might hold out for something a bit pricier that I prefer the look of. I saw the jazzman, but I'm after something with the P pickup.
Ah adverts, where Squiers actually increase in price! If hes a mate push for mates rates. In the last 3 months I picked up a Streamer S1 for 480E, a Streamer Std for 400E and a Rebop 4 Zebrano for 400E. Personally I wouldnt stir above 5 tonne with this.
