1. yea he used a digi for a while and quickly realised how sh*te it was. never was there a more pointless pedal.
2. i dont really need the low b (normally tuned to low A for the originals band, A-D-A-D-G) at all but i still use the 5 string more than the 4's. just got comfortable on the neck i suppose.
3. i wouldnt worry too much, our singer aint all that neither and we get more than enough gigs. like i said earlier, the voice is there. he just needs to expand his range. singers need to practice too.
4. The product of too much beer, codeine and two hours of Grand Magus on the way to the gig. More of a live jam this one.
5. D'Addario EXL 165-6. 32-135. Should do the job. They do a super long set in the pro steel range EPS170-6Sl. 30-130
6. I dont think a synth is needed really. If the guitar is fuzzed enough a shallow chorus+distortion on the bass will do the job. Synths are too pricey to buy for just occasional use. And 99% of your average pub audience wouldnt realise if there was a synth there or not.
7. not too sure about the looks but then again the last few washburn models have been gack imo. neck profile looks very different compared to the urge.
8. there is an ok voice in there, its just held back by a very narrow range. i'm not even sure if he has a whole octave in him from what i've heard. lessons are a must for the lad.

Consensus on Tuning

I take a line from the second output of a stereo chorus which is usually around 5th or 6th in the chain. Its always on so I can just glance at it mid song if needs be.
10. get the biggest board possible. have one pedal at each end!
11. Cant stand red basses. A LPB precision with a maple board always looks good IMO.

T'will be the finest. Each cab will get roughly 150 watts each when both are connected. I reckon the head pumps about 200-230 watts with one 8ohm cab attached so if you need a smaller rig for a particular gig then it will also be fine with whichever cab you choose. Not a bad rig for sub £550
13.
I've ordered one! Used the dosh from the sale of my alpine white epi t-bird which I sold with the hardcase & D-tuner, so I raised more than enough. I kept the Ritter thunderbird gigbag, so it was inevitable I suppose. When the missus finds out I'm going to be in so much trouble, but I'm not frightened of her! ...well maybe a little
just ordered one my self (proIV). might be returned soo enough.....
14. I've seen lots of gear purchased here and shipped across to Ireland pop up on adverts.ie a few days later for prices which are greatly inflated. Common practice IME.
15. Fender Rumble, Earcandy sovereign, Orange Sp212 (small by 2x12 standards). Thats all I can think of. It is fairly limited.
16. A bit more managable for a 1x12 then.
17. 900 watts @ 8ohms? why? this micro head thing is turning into a cock measuring contest IMO. sure it fits in a gigbag, but I havent come across too many cabs that can be carted around easily and require that much juice.
18.
Got the model wrong, its a BBG-4A II made in 1988. Had a quick play last night, it sounds pretty good and the actives mean there are loads of different sounds available, something I'm not used to with my passive basses.
Love it. The Amberburst version is something I've been gassing over for years, might as well add Teal to the list as well.
19. Willing to dep on girl duty at short notice.... Reasonable rates.....
20. Yep noticed his absence lately too. Probably getting ready for/busy with the christmas rush.
21. I know a lot of players who are going back to or switching to Fenders because of reliability. Nothing got to do with brand or image. They just want a simple bass that does the job night in night out, can take being knocked about on the road and sound great every time. In fairness to fender they pretty much nailed it first time out. The only other brand I'd have that much confidence in is Yamaha.
22. Active pups/pre's. Neodymium magnets. Major improvements in string quality.
23. nice review, not helping the gas though!
24.
Is everyone else enjoying imagining this conversation complete with accents?
And just what accents would you be thinking of lad?
