I';m thinking of moving on my Burns Bison in white with Gold Hardware. the serial no on the neck plate seems to indicate that it was made in 2006 Its a solid beast and is totally original, There is a tiny paint chip on top of the headstock-I've took a photo to show it. i've recently put a new set of strings on it. I'm not using it that much these days and feel that it would be better off with a new owner. you are welcome to pop in for a try out. Includes a hard case.P+P will be extra, pick up preferred. 350.00. Trev. for some reason I'm not able to upload any photo's at the mo'
3.
I`m gearing up for my first gig for over a decade on Sat. I`ve been away for a fortnight, and the singer had domestic issues that needed resolving so we`ve had two hours rehearsal last tues,in the last 4 weeks which was ok, a bit more enthusiastic than finesse but we remembered most of the set! So, now we have 3 reh this week of about 3 hours each to slick it up a little and organise the set a little better. This will be the singers FIRST live performance and her confidence is critical, so these rehearsals will also be about maintaining and reinforcing that. It`s not a big gig, just a bar with about 150 people but it does fill up and is almost a residency in that we will be doing a month of Saturdays on and a month off (a rare thing nowadays). The size of the gig means nothing to the singer, to her it`s important! So, the tension rises.. Also, the drummer has been mumbling things like "I`m not sure there will be room for that Ampeg cab, but we can just put you in the P.A. I considered the P.A, an LD Systems 15" sub and 12" satellites which sounds great for vocals and a bit of keys and politely declined his kind offer. So, we`ll see where that goes! More to follow. MM
Good luck for saturday Dave Whats the name of the venue?, Let us know how it goes. T
4. In the past i have just binned the old strings and stuck a set of new ones on. I did boil one set of strings for about ten mins(once) and a lot of scum did float to the top, I stuck back'em back on the bass they came off, but i didnt really find the results all that impressive, maybe I'll just put the boiled ones onto my P,for that "thump" or even stick 'em on my Bison.and keep the new ones for my J. That should save a few quid over the year.
5. My current setting is dry at 1.00 with the growl at 9.00 and girth at 1.00.
6. How long are you meant to boil 'em for
7.
Its actually a pretty decent bass with a great, VERY Precision-like sound. The 3001 had the extra scale length and slightly more complex controls, so with hindsight I should have gone for that. However, I was on a big Mani phase at the time (had just re-discovered The Second Coming) and wanted the exact same bass .... not realising at the time that he is way shorter than me and with smaller hands, so the short-scale 3000 suited him a hell of a lot more than it suited me
Yeah I agree with you on that on the P sound I've listening to a few roses tracks recently, namely she bangs the drums, waterfall and I am the resurrection as we do these numbers..and the bass sounds very P like-in fact I use a Squier Precision and the sound/tone is spot on.
8. I'm sat here listening to the Missus, youngest son and dog snorin'
9. Hi, I've had a couple of envelope filters in the past and found that to get the best results i had to turn up the treble control on the bass(passive basses only) hope that helps. Trev.

18. I have 2 squier basses, and they are my main gigging basses- 1 is an affinity precision-bought it 7 years ago and a VM Jazz-which i bought at the beginning of the year,I take em both to every gig and they never let me down. the precision is great for stone roses numbers-a lovely fat sound. and the Jazz-well I just love the growl of those duncan designed pickups. In Fact I'm only writing this post now as i have just got back from a gig,at which both basses were used for different numbers. T.
