I was considering these a few years back, between the Mark Bass and Bartolini circuits but couldn't make my mind up and active circuits scare me nowπ Would love to hear more of a review on if sometime, perhaps a video βπ»

This is a BB the same way the BBNE2 is considered one. The body shape isn't the usual.

Sorry bro, I'd like a T-Bird again myself but if this doesn't dissuade you, then I don't know what will

You'd also convince them to stick musicman pickguards on BB basses π don't quit your day job just yet.

Hum tends to come with active basses, especially those who play on stage with speakers, lights, radios, monitors and even stage fans. Do you still get hum when it's in passive?
-
@Al Krow I tend to review things the same. I guess in a lot of ways both basses are very similar in black and white, when looking at specs but the subtleties in difference seem like they make all the difference in sound and feel I love my BB1025 but have to admit that the thickness of the new necks is definitely a lot more comfortable, as well as the weight loss/reduced size bodies. They feel a lot more comfortable to play sat down or on a strap. Sound wise, I can't put my finger on why they sound ever so different but I wouldn't say it's dramatically different from my end.

Seen the Erik ArkΓΆ's review but waiting to see/hear more before I spend out, perhaps buy a previous model

Well if Nigel had got one similar, everyone's argument against this bass is irrelevant ππππ

Looks sweet! A good bass for the price, hope you're enjoying it

Why? It's comical, very smart thinking I must say. Would I play one in a band? Nah but it stick it on the wall as a conversation piece almost family and friends haha.

Digging this review. Do you think the sound is perhaps from the tailored pickups for the bass, the mitre neck joint or perhaps a combination of a few things? Both fantastic basses

1. It can definitely be done, it'll cost a few quid but definitely worthwhile if you just wish to switch between active and passive, let alone when batteries die. 2. How long is a piece of string? I tend to find with an 18V (2x9V) preamp tend to last a little longer than a 9V, but doesn't mean twice as long but on the other hand, the sound from such a preamp sounds a lot cleaner and rounded. 3. From my experience, if you're playing for long enough, you tend to know, sometimes the volume drops or the bass EQ dissolves and gets to a weak crackling sound, if any sound at all but being batteries, temperature can affect the battery life as much as brand and quality of battery.(reflecting back to #2) I do love an active bass but too many let downs for me and my anxiety is always hightened in case I've got to spend 5 minutes switching bass or a 9V battery on stage... It's embarrassing. So I've always stuck to a passive bass for safety and a sound I can always rely on.

What a beauty, would love to hear how this sounds! π

Haha I'm the same, if not my basses and equipment then my bicycles take up my time and money haha. Keep up the practice and with the books and I'm sure soon we'll see you excel in your playing and enjoy delving more info your theory. Fun stuff. My dad's off like a rocket, wondering if I'm playing good enough for my 15 years of play timeπ

Nice introduction Gary and welcome back to the world of bass, how are you finding it with giving it a break? More passion and interest than before? Not too bad equipment as well, pretty much ready to go pro π hahaha Just.... word to the wise, steer clear from the marketplace on here. You'll end up penniless like the rest of us haha. Welcome to BassChat and I hope you enjoy your stay here.

Hey Robbo, never too late to start my friend. I got my dad playing guitar, he's a year older than yourself but only a few years back he started and took to it like a duck to water, really enjoying it, never understood why he didn't do it sooner (perhaps not too soon or I wouldn't be here π) and something that's keeping him busy and still learning things new. I mean, tell me a dad that doesn't know everything? Haha Also had a few customers in my old workplace, many many years your senior who wanted to take up instruments to help with things like arthritis, dementia and other ailments*... Personally you're never too late to start πππ» *This is what I was told by the customer and nothing Ive researched, understand or approve but I do back, as I'm sure learning something new to keep your mind young and keeping your hands busy can help backpedal certain things. That aside..... Some nice gear you've got and also welcome to the Yamaha club, we'll expect pics posted if it's a BB model Enjoy the forum and welcome to BassChat π

I wouldn't have thought they'd make it active and nothing to gain from one hole. Perhaps a pickup selector and a V/T/Switch configuration. Who knows.... People do crazy things to these basses though ππ€·π»ββοΈ
