1. I think it could just be a matter of turning your music and amplifier up until you can invest in better equipment- not saying megabucks but there's always room for improvement reg equipment Digging your style and playing, BSB
2. that's amazing and a great piece of history for people like ourselves. I just can't get over how good it looks for its age. Good find Bubinga5 BSB
3. I'd say yamaha are pretty decent for what your after and how versatile they can be: mixture of P and J why not? Musicman Sub (inc Sterling by musicman) and the Ibanez ATK are well made instruments and have a decent sound quality but sound similar and not so versatile as other 5 stringers. Now, I've never tried these but heard they're very good and a bit more of a push for £550. A bit of a selective taste for looks too but I think you'll be bagging a good bargain (especially with what's included) www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Brute_JJX5_Black.html Hope your find something you like but my motto is to always try before you buy BSB
4. I believe Squier brought out these VM basses as a purpose to buy Fender Artist without having to pay the full whack. There was the 77' based roughly on the Geddy Lee, 70's on the Marcus Miller and the VM Fretless as the Jaco Pastorious. The only difference with the Squier 77 and the one posted on the Rushbacks site is the stickers. I've just bought this bass myself, a real good bass. I got mine for £130 from my local so shop around BSB
5.
looks like it's the "normal" Squier Vintage Modified '77 or whatever it's called, with additional stickers/decals.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
6.
He's dead now.
My condolences be with you, my good sir BSB
7.
http://basschat.co.u...ge__hl__obscure
Thank you Mr Jack, made a good read and a lot of questions answered. If i'm honest, i'm more interested in the Bass Centre, Bass Collection as something i'd invest in just on the basis of "familiar" designs and expectancies, although i know many of players have used and spoke a lot about the SGC Nanyo instruments, both seem alright for the price. BSB
8. I've never used one or really had any use. Personally i think they can ruin the looks of any guitar they're on but at the same time can be comfy to play with. I'd love to try the Ibanez Gary Willis Sig for this feat but nothing i'll be investing in any time soon. BSB
9.
They certainly looked nice at the bass show today. Power has passive EMG type pickups, Detroit just states passive pickups, so that`s probably where both the power, and the difference come in.
Thank you good sir, take it you had a splendid day?
10. Maybe "Power" and "Detroit" could refer to different time periods of precision bass, i.e 70's and 80's?? I wouldn't know but good guess BSB
11. Hey guys, Just been checking up on the old Bass Centre: with them not stocking so much online anymore, I don't tend to look so often. My first question is, would i be right to believe Bass Centre commissioned these basses from the start or was there been a company before or did they just adopt the logo? I'm quite fascinated in Bass collection, I think it was early last year or later BGM reviewed two models, the Jive (Jazz) and Power (Precision) basses and they seemed to have a good reaction. "Best bass under £300" I believe the quote was, which seemed to be a good price mark between Fender MIM and Squier. Has anyone tried any of these basses, new or old? (Inc Speakeasy models) They have the P and J copies but also noticed a Ricki copy too, do they actually feel and sound anything like the origional artifacts? I'll be pleased to hear some opinions BSB
12. lovely looking bass and specs to match but i dare not see the price tag 0_0 BSB
13. Artist basses from Fender but I've heard a lot of praise from the Matt Freeman Squier Pbass and the Nate Mendel Fender Pbass. I'll always recommend trying before you buy as you want the bass for you rather than what everyone says BSB
14. Reserved by a certain Mr G Williams, Looking forward to doing business with you sir. BSB
15. Both very different instruments but I do like the G3 more myself but the LP can be just as good in many ways too. Hope to be dealing with you soon BSB
16.
I've got the nate Mendel fender precision and it's great!
Pictures? As far as P basses go; i like Lakland, they look and sound fantastic and have a mixture of modern and classic features and the Fender Nate Mendel has seemed to be one on everyones list (who also played Lakland basses, ironically) BSB
17. haha if only we could have birthday and christmas early eh? two very lovely basses, not saying that as the seller but a Gibson admirer in general buy both and ill cut you a good deal? haha BSB
18. haha im the same but with both my Tbird and KN RD, just beautiful basses but the main reason for the G3 is for sale is its perhaps the one that can guarantee me some money where as the others are a "select taste". There isnt a great deal i can say about this bass than just saying "Gene Simmons, Mike Dirnt & Krist Novoselic" to name a few artists that have Rocked many decades of music history with this beast . . . . its just an awesome bass. Most people would think 3 pick ups would just be mad but this really is genius for the hum canceling but the sound is phenomenal. I'll be sad to see this go but i'll be glad to see someone appreciate this as much as i and the prev owners have. BSB
