1. Thinking Gibson is starting to warm to some people Nice to see some love haha BSB
2. i find the kelly is set on a different angle, straight sides, sharper edges/bevels and you have access to higher frets from the bottom horn, while the Ex' is much more rounded off. the kelly bird (bass) is practically a Tbird in shape BSB

4. haha another 3-point hater? personally, i don't mind them. if you have good strings that last then you shouldn't have to change them often for the bridge to be a problem but that's just me BSB
5.
Always fancied an explorer. I fear this may just be a pointy thunderbird though. Pickups look the same. The original explorer bass had the pickups out of the grabber, which are amazing.
i fear the same too but i look at it, personally as having 2 different basses with different tunings/setups. also, the fact this SHOULD be cheaper than a Tbird, works even better. I will admit, i'd prefer a Tbird over this anyday but "beggars cant be choosers"? hehe BSB
6.
I used Hercules grab stands many times with my nos nocaster to no ill affect if that helps?
same for myself i have put some foam behind too, incase it gets knocked but they work well. BSB
7.
Just seen that. It doesn't really look like a "proper" Thunderbird though - no raised centre section to the body, wrong bridge, wrong pickups. I guess I'll just have to keep saving for a Lull T-Bass.
That was the only problem with the Studio series was that they where more of a budget range. They also made a 5 string Les Paul bass, quite rare to see but imho, i don't like it and think it was a better model for the 4 strings. BSB
8.
Do Gibson make any 5-string basses?
No new ones or any sign of any but theres a Studio Thunderbird 5 (cherry) for sale on the forum BSB
9.
I don't like sunburst and I don't like pointy guitars. But bizarrely I like this!
i know what you mean, i love rounded basses but this is quite subtle and comforting with the mellow sunburst finish where as the 'others' scream METAL at you with the strictly black finishes. each to their own as they say, i like this though BSB
10. Oh, also for anyone in the 'Short Scale' market, they're bringing out a "Faded series" Flying V with all the same specs (seems familiar?) but with a Satin finish. more details on the (UK) Andertons site BSB
11. Well hello again my friends, Here with yet more Gibson news: this time another Explorer bass in Sunburst. This looks pretty nice comparing it to the Silverburst they introduced within the last year, limited run, i believe? well, same again needless to say Still packing the same feat's and yet to be put on the official website but details can be found on Musicians Friend So . . . Dear Santa BSB
12.
Your avatar is out of time..
Maybe with being from the future, timing doesn't exist!? BSB
13. i like it but i feel the body may look a bit small on people like myself. tone isnt bad either but a bit punchy for something Tele like BSB
14. http://www.mansons.co.uk/product/manson-e-bass-john-paul-jones-signature-bass-guitar-4185 BSB
15. i believe that will be his Manson signature bass
16. Not sure if its my iPad but . . . That is hard to read :S BSB
17. I believe it's called the "Lotto" bass?
18. Cheers Neepheid, I did consider it but I wouldn't have thought there would be THAT much difference :-/ Maybe I'll try it wi my G3 (as the les Paul having humbuckers too) and just see what happens regarding general volume. The neck pick up can be considered abit too bassy as compared to your average Jazz sound but I can easily roll it off Like I said, other than this "slight" issue, everything else is perfect
19. Hey Guys, I got my bass a few weeks back now and played it none stop, the body is thick and fairly heavy which is what i like with being a big bloke: small and light instruments feel inadequate to me. Everything about this bass is quality and everything I look for in a bass for years (although I'll be switching the strap button soon) there's not one thing I don't like about it. . . . however the other day I switched between this and my TBird and realized the difference in the output. I know theres a difference in woods and hardware but would anyone know what this could be down to? Personally I'm not sure whether its down to the wood, the electronics or even the wiring. The pickups are Seymour Duncan's Hot Stacks (Basslines) so I doubt there'll be a problem with them, surely? Bit worried to say the least but still within my 30 days. BSB
20. Knowing my Gibsons, the best way to mod it is to send it to me and forget about it
21. I like it other than the headstock, just my opinion though but feel it may grow on me
22. Bump for a beautiful bass and a friendly trader
23. Last time I checked the currency (not recently) €-£ was evens and tbirds tend to go for about £800 . . . . Like I said been a while lol If I had the money, it'd be mine and you seem a nice guy to deal with See if I win the lotto tonight
24.
And have change for a fish supper, ten woodbine and the bus home.
Woodbine, haven't heard that in a while ^_^ Beautiful bass but all the best with the sale
25. i like it but the price is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much for me i could buy almost 2 new gibsons for that?
