Recommend me a good start up LINED fretless bass??
bigsmokebass replied to Jigster's topic in Bass Guitars
Vintage Icon VJ96 fretless, superb for just over £200, even less used.
+1. Aye, good bass indeed. I did own a Squier VM fretless (Squiers take on a Fender Jaco P) was the one and only fretless I have owned and regret selling it but try either of the two. Hope this helps -

I know quite a few people have reactions to nickel, so right away they've got people buying these strings but what's the price difference between nickel/steel to cobalt in raw or scrap? Just wondered as it wouldn't surprise me them using cheap metal alloys in materials with strings and "sterling by musicman" save them money and also bump up the value due to the "properties" in these dark financial times. Either way, I'm still happy with my Roto's Peace out guys

Why not have a J/MM pp combo? The tones would be sweeeeeet! ^_^ Like said, absolutely stunning bass, don't sell

Glad to see they're still going, competeing with prices and satisfying customers. Still doesn't compare to thier stores, most notably Liverpool, by far the best I've visited. Customer friendly and a less corporate approach, unlike a certain company who always pester me and try to pressure me in to buying stuff 2 mins through testing it [strike]Dawsons[/strike] Try and keep this topic going as I'd like to know what the quality of instruments are like from there now theyre Internet based.
There was one referenced from the Music Radar forum some time ago. Might take a while to find it. Edit: Eureka. http://www.guitarstorage.com/studio-guitar-case-racks/ http://www.totally-free-woodworking-plans.com/guitar-rack-plans.html Does this help?
That guitar storage one is pretty damn beautiful and would look ace in function room (or where you practice on your bass) or a studio. Bookmarked Shame they look a bit TOO simplistic for thier price :-/

I feel dirty. Just ordered a Roadworn Jazz! pics added
bigsmokebass replied to deanovw's topic in Bass Guitars
Makes me laugh that you pay more for the worn "used" look than the new, pristine version: a matter of an additional £400 or abouts. That being said, I did enjoy the red RW Precision I played in Liverpool's Dolphin music before they moved out. It may sound stupid but it does genuinely feel that the worn in feel adds to the tone. The worn neck feels like the one from your trusty P/J bass you've played for 10 years night after night, gig after gig . . . Truly phenomenon but just something I don't see me paying full price for. -
I feel if you could afford the one half of the price, well, your half way there, full satisfaction with no regrets

My 2nd hand Marshall stinks of smoke, still to this day but the condition is remarkable otherwise. The thing that gets me, is amps from homes with pets, covered in cat/dog hair and marks in the tolex/screen from where theyve clawed the f***ing thing.

Awww that's a shame, pretty sure I read your name on it somewhere ;P I will be withdrawing it come Sunday anyway, just thought Id see if I could sell it to get some other bass goodies and upgrades as the need for a 5 string has become somewhat needless Hope your well bud and life treating you well Grae

I had problems, think I payed about £150-200 in taxes so just be prepared to pay if you do, not saying you will.
