The guy has been amember since 2005 and is signed in as a buisness seller, he does have a (201 with a turquoise star) and a 98% positive score. Not a newby.

I'm in Holland and he's in Yorkshire, so picking it up is not really an option.

I just placed the winning bid for a Trace Elliot V6 with 585 pounds. I was of course extatic, but when I mailed the seller to ask about postage he replied with.... hmmmm,I was expecting it to go for 200 more, I'm not sure I want to sell it. I wasn't expecting that, I'm absolutely gutted :-( Oh well, back to the Markbass Cmd 102P. Or should I offer him a few quid more (that I really can't spare).

A great reason to have kids... -
I'm having to learn the terminology all over again - I moved to Holland. They call C# Sies, and Bb Bes. It does me head in! The verse is the Couplet and the chorus is... ha ha,I can't remember. OOPs
I have a young lad comes round once every other week for a "bass lesson". Im not a teacher, or qualified or anything, but just love that he comes and enjoys. It's hard to remember when the notes just don't fall to hand by second nature, so it's great just to pass on some time honed & probably bad habits and techniques. The main thing is he enjoys it, and so do I. Am I getting old?
Yes, you probably are getting old. That's why you have time for others. You're doing the music world (and the young lad), a great service.

Maybe sending The Bass Cellar a link to a few of the negative posts on here will open their eyes.

Can I play my i-Pod through my Markbass 2x10 (with tweeter) combo without damaging it? I'm organizing a stag party, and before we hit the town for a few beers we'll be filming an AC/DC video. Our bachelor is a big fan of theirs and we've already got the Angus Young school uniform sorted, including SG lookalike. Video cameras , bass guitar , drums , rhythm guitar , mics and stands are all taken care of. The recorded images will be mixed with the original Thunderstruck sound track at a later date and will be played back on a beamer/screen during the night-do after the wedding. We just need loud music to mess around to. Can I use my bass amp playing my i-Pod through it? Phil.

First Bass Owned: Aria Pro II 'Go To' Bass:Yamaha TRB5 'Your' Bass:Fender Jazz 75 I'd like to add a Fender Jazz 5'er one day.

Yes, I need it for anything lower than the E. Yes,I want it for the easy positioning. I like not having to move too far, it means I don't have to look at the fretboard. I really only use my 4 for slapping.

So for the pub gigs 2 X 45 mins seems to be the norm. We sometimes have trouble getting back into the groove after the break, it disrupts the flow of things. Our last gig was a birthday party and we did 1hr 30 in one set; I was dying for the toilet by the time we finished. Anyone else have trouble getting started after the break ? Phil.
And probably spending too much of your time obsessing over tone.
I'm not tone obsessive, but it does deserve attention. So, probably the wrong guys I think.

I love listening to guitary music like Pearl Jam, Metallica, RHCP, Queen, Pink Floyd,Gary Moore etc. So why does getting on stage and playing with them irritate (sometimes annoy) me so much ? I think it's got something to do with the fact that the guys I've played with in the past haven't been very subtle. There is no consideration for the hours I'd spent refining my tone, they smothered it with distortion. Maybe I should start looking for a band set-up with keyboard and brass. Is your playing taste different to your listening taste ? Phil.

OP here, The last time we played I had a really woolly/muddy sound. After talking to other musicians afterwards it was suggested to me that I could try- 1. cutting some bass fequencies from the guitars and 2, try to remove some frequencies around 100 hz as this would help with the kick drum. You guys all seem to disagreewith number 2(and I can't do that with my amp anyway) so I'll ignore that advice. Thanks for clearing it up. So I'll go with removing some bass from the guitars next time we play. What would be interesting to read would be how other bassists go about getting their live sound. What are the things to look out for eg. hollow stage = whatch out for too much low bass frequencies.
-
Hi guys, This may come across as a bit dumb, but I don't know how to cut 100Hz using the EQ of my Markbass CMD 102P. I cant make head or tail of the frequency graphs in the manual. I'm getting agro' from the bass drum when we play live and have heard that cutting around the 100Hz mark should help. Our next gig is before rehearsal and would like pointing in the right direction. Am I the only one who can't read these things. Your help woould be much appreciated. Phil.
It's all about getting the Boss DB90. All the percussionists/drummers I know use 'em. However, I still prefer my Wittner. I like the visual aspect.
Wow, those Boss units do almost anything. I think they're a little too advanced for my needs. A simple click will suffice, but I will be loading some drum loops onto my i-pod. Always handy. I think I'll have a look on The Bay for the Wittner type.
-
Yeah a drum loop would be more natural, but I don't have a DAW, and I can use the metonome anywhere in the house (livingroom).
-
+1 to that, there's just something about that swingy thingy that appeals to me. Wittner seems to be popular.

Hello all, Yesterday during rehearsal the topic of metronomes cropped up. One of our guitarists was having trouble with a particular rhythm/feel and as far as timing goes he started to wander a little. This is when 'You Should Practice With A Metronome'came up. So I've decided to start using a metronome (my timing is pretty goed, but it can only make your timing better, right). So my questions to you guys are:- Should I invest in a pendulum type or digital? (Pendulum uses no batteries, but digital is always perfect timing) Why don't we have a digital pendulum on the forum? I have no experience with the pendulums so I'm not sure what to look for when buying, your wisdom is much appreciated. Phil.

Hi Cameltoe, I ordered a cover for my markbass 2x10 combo and went through the same thing. Communication was good in the beginning... and then no reply. It took well over a month. I finally got it and I must say the quality is excellent. I'm very happy with it, but I won't use them again. They are simply too sloppy/ignorant with their customers. Yours will arrive eventually, the snow won't help, but I've heard this story many times from users of this forum. Best of luck. Phil.
