1. I'm sure arrangements could be made if someone wanted to do the LBGS. The only thing arranged up these parts that I'm aware of, is that Mr Alan Lancaster, the original Status Quo bassman , has agreed to support the Relay and would be delighted to get his photo taken with it when they play in Glasgow in April.
2. watched it earlier today - very interesting I must say.
3. I think there's a difference between the honky tonk piano and the cheesy keyboard, which I think they've toned down now. I had a dream last night that I'd lost a ticket to go see the "old" Quo in April this year. I bumped into Alan Lancaster and we wandered about Falkirk, and went for a pint at the Wheatsheaf and had a right good blether . Good times. He offered to let me have a shot of his Mustang , but I was a bit embarrassed and politely declined. Anyway , moving along , here's an article kindly provided by jezzaboy on the subject
4. It's easy and fun too. You just need to have a listen, then press a button. I'm a convert.
5. I like of what has been suggested , and would also add John Mellencamp and Maria McKee, both of whom are a bit country at times. Also may be worth checking out some of these bad boys.... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/227997-january-composition-competition-voting/page__pid__2350067#entry2350067
6.
I think that the BC competition has broken Soundcloud
It wisnae me!!!!
7.
i agree, we need to try and make this Thread more popular, and sociable. after all, its just a bit of fun, and gets you thinking outside of your normal boxes which i like .
Good point - I've voted the past few months , but , tbh I tend to need a wee prompt - like see it mentioned in a thread somewhere rather go to it automatically. I like it. well done to all.
8. Thanks, appreciated. The country one I like , it's got a good groove, but was surprised how the rocker turned out better than i thought it would.. We've got someone interested, but the singer now seems to be a bit ... lets see what happens , take time out - annoying as we've been getting gig offers and I'd rather have a yes or no whether he's in or out
9. Here's a couple of songs we recorded at New year. It's the first time the band have recorded anything since 1997,( I think) , and will be the last as our guitarist is packing it in. Recording seemed to be a bit of a doddle, compared with previous experiences. Bass & drums put down together in one take, following a quick run through. First one has a country vibe and the second is more of a rocker. http://m.soundcloud.com/thesignals1983
10. Woo , and indeed, hoo!! We had another classic handover with Jose ( mcnach) and bassist_lewis on Thursday in Edinburgh prior to Lewis using it last night a gig at Malones. If anyone could use it on the 16 Feb to mark the first anniversary , that'd be grand. Right here's the big pic, ta-dah!
11. Now that was a whole lot of fun - cheered me up no end. However , the bloody thumb did take me by surprise and kindof give me the boak!!
12. It's a Souped Up Super Stagg!!! No real complaints from those that've used it, apart from maybe a bit lower output. Good tone and feel. It's had new pickups installed, sand they are sweet. Go for it.
13.
I'm in Edinburgh, but I don't have any gigs planned for the next few days (or weeks). I'm recording on sunday, though...
.... perfect!
14. Mmmmh, now what kind of drummer could possibly compete with that?
15. CCR ,FFS, OMG. Cringe Factor went of the scale when the singer busted some of the moves too!
16. If you can lift your leg that high you're doing pretty well..
17. Thanks, I've still to try it out. If it works ok the bass/ guitar or as a wee pa amp I'm sure someone could benefit from it. It comes with a strange looking Ohm speaker and I'll try it with that. You are,of course, right about binning something that works!
18. I've now got it back , here's what it looks like....
19.
Yep! +1 for the beard envy.
Oh, and hair!
20. Steady now .... another in the the series of handsome young chaps handover pics with Beer of the Bass and me. I think I've got beard envy.
21. Beer of the Bass and mcnach will both be using the Relay Bass tomorrow night in Edinburgh. What next?
22. Who's next is not one but two , mcnach and Beer of the Bass at this event in Edinburgh this Friday 3rd January https://www.facebook.com/events/1437718556441225/?previousaction=join&ref_newsfeed_story_type=regular&source=1
23. I will be receiving a Badger Opus 110, ( I think), it's got a "Made in Leeds" stamp on the back . transistor head, shortly. It'd been on loan for a while to my nephew and it's coming back to me. I can't quite recall how I got it, or whether it's even a bass amp. I'm told it works! before I decide whether to , bin it, flog it or donate it, anyone got any info? Cheers
24. Handsome Young Man Alert!! This could well have been my last ever gig! ( Hope not though) Good night - spoiled a bit by an over zealous " Security Executive" who stopped my volunteer from collecting with the tin , despite my having approval from the owner and bar manager. Anyhow , sorted that out and then prostituted ourselves by getting donations to play requests ( £20 for Sweet Home Alabama! £5 for Rock 'n'Roll damnation , £10 for a pic with band ). The Relay bass sounded good with a bit of grunt. Who's next?
