5. I'm sure it could be shared here too!
6. can't see it .......
7. Prices probably as above. I've had a JV P since '83 and am very attached to it. As you say these are lovely to play and look at. If in no rush to sell Id hang on to it and admire it now and again. Pics would be nice!
8.
I bet you are :-p Was great chatting to you today.
Thank you ,likewise.. I let our man know you'd contact him
9. Really enjoying all these updates, and looking forward to what's yet to come!!
10. I've used them and agree with above comments- they do just seem like Rotos. So if you like Rotos you'll dig these.
11. That is lovely - looks very like my '83 JV in all the bits and bobs. Love the white/ maple. I presume it's a '57 reissue.
12. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/aria-pro-2-csb-deluxe-bass/1027356988#photo-content I thought this looked rather tidy and a good price
13. Didn't Work for me. But I got one online from a different supplier. Nice pics.
14. A glimpse inside the log book - what else might be there?
15. I had a Viper(?) that was next to useless,I got it for nothing though. I've recently got a Legacy for £50 incl case and it does seem pretty good but in need of a set up and new strings.
16. I like the strings on it too! Maybe I've got cheap tastes
17. Useful post. I've Recently( maybe rashly) bought an electro acoustic bass. I've had a few before and didn't really like them that much. I'm not keen on the bronze strings so any other suggestions would be welcomed . Good and cheap would be good as I'll probably only have an occasional plonk,or sell it as I'll remember why I got rid of my other ones! And, yes I should know better
18. Very interesting, and unusual , to me anyway.
19. I've seen it advertised too & thought it looked good . I'd certainly go for the £500 mark. I think it was originally advertised at £650. I love mine, bought on BC, I think about 2/3 years ago, for £450. Edit - mines has a fancy replacement ( Lollar) pickup in it.
20. Id say £40 ,that was the standard charge for my man,but he's now left the country. I've now found someone who charges £25 and is better. I don't like just leaving a bass without meeting so it's good to meet before and after to have a chat about any issues .
21. I think there be a couple of things happening in the background that might generate more interest.....
22. Type in "Sizzling" at the Works and get 20% off!
23. I nipped into the local Works , but they didn't have it or know anything about it - " You'll just need to order it online". Thanks a lot!
24.
It's interesting that people say Quo turned into a crowd-pleasing, family-friendly act, given that their first incarnation was a hard-working holiday camp band. One might almost argue that the crunching boogie thing was a temporary aberration. That said, I bow to no man in my admiration not only for their classic mid-period material but also for Rossi and Parfitt's willingness to do whatever is necessary to keep the band going. Yes, the cabaret stuff is anodyne; IIRC Rossi is on record as viewing this as a short-sighted approach sold to them by a manager with whom they have since parted company. And they have made some other questionable choices; playing Sun City at a time when it was profitable but unpopular; wearing white socks with black shoes; playing up to the 'loveable dimbo' image; this movie. Nevertheless, one should not stint praise to an act that continues to enjoy considerable success in the face of adversity while retaining a characteristic modesty and a solid work ethic.
Good points! I really did enjoy the crunching boogie earlier this year with the original lineup - nothing played that was recorded after 1976!Mostly album tracks & there were complaints that there was no Rockin' All Over The World etc. Saw the " new" line-up recently and you can't deny they do a great show - no staring at the floor looking bored/moody for the Quo!!! Let's Rock!
