1. I've used a Jazz set- I think there might be 2 versions- and they were top quality.
2.
<Warning: gross generalisation approaching> I'm not sure if you're playing a t-bird that access to the upper frets is terribly important to you. I did wonder if I should tidy up a bit more before taking the photos...
Looks like a warzone - take cover!!!!
I got a Pro in a swap deal with Pestie on here and if you like the way a Tbird hangs, you will love it. I had a few T birds in the past and didn`t get on with the way they "hang" but now it feels very natural. The end of the neck does seem far away at first but you will soon get used to it.
It seemed far away for me , at first, but then I'm a right wee shorty!!! Good basses , Well ,the one from Jezza was!!
3.
Nothing too fancy, but she's all mine and I love her to bits... My Squier Vintage Modified '77 Jazz (with apologies for the blue lead... )
Nice - but for God's sake man - lose that blue lead!!!
4. I've got a set of the jumbo vintage style on my Mex Jazz and i really think they are good especially for the price - £25(?) fitted fine - just- They look good and are nice & smooth. Recommended.
5. Practice some shapes!!!
6. I want a Funder Jeffbass!! ( On a budget, of course). World domination next , surely!
7.
Motorhead No sleep to Hammersmith deluxe edition. Disc 2 has live outtakes and is much nastier. Like finding a pickle in a tunnocks teacake.
Mhhh, tunnocks tea cake, with pickle is a bit Heston Whatsiskisser. "Nastier" must be pretty nasty! I do like a caramel log with the toated cocconut .
8. Chas & Dave - totenham to tennessee - it's becoming a bit of a effort though!!
9.
This..
Now that is good!
10.
Try this: http://www.facebook.com/BcBassRelay
Perfect - I ," Like"!!
11. I don't seem to be able to get the Facebook page?
12.
They are both very differnet in subtle ways that I will explain below. The Yammy is good. The Epiphone is crap. There you go.
I have no experience of Yammies , so feel qualified to comment. The Epi EB3 I had for a while was rather good - well made & sounded fine to me. It was a 1999 Korean model so don't if that made a difference . I did try a recent EB0 , and to concur with Jezza's review , it was, well, crap.
13. Another Aria SB - this time a 600 - apart from some dings nothing wrong with it . It's a 1979 model I've had since since about 1982 - i know it's a really good bass - if a tad heavy, but I don't ever seem to use it. It's spends most of it's time on loan to various people, if it was worth a fortune I'd maybe sell it but i'll probably hang onto it for sentimental reasons.
14. Not sure if I should be using this thread or the original one - anyway I've been thinking about this quite a bit and trying to arrange dates mentioning it to get some interest going - early stages as yet tbh. One of the the things I'm wondering about is if this is quite a success in terms of fund raising , I think Cancer Research , as agreed ( Ithink) on the other thread is fantastic, & that's what I've been telling people, and wonder if a lot of money is raised whether it should be split by a percentage with CR & BC or whether there should be a cut off for the BC contribution - no idea what that would be though or whether that's a bit off? my thinking, I guess ,is that if it's for the most part for charity , there's likely to be more interest. Oh and the world record attempt would do no harm " I'm a Record Breaker!!!" Any thoughts?
15. I want you more than need you ..... given what you say , go for it, it doesn't need to be justified!!!!
16. I went drummer because I'm good at air drums , but then noticed double bass - now i really would like to be able to play one of these bad boys!
17. Looking back the worst was my first - don't recall it having a name. It was short scale and sunburst , bent neck, high action, didn't stay in tune and sounded a bit like a farty trumpet, It's probably now an expensive and rare collectors item . I mean £5 was a lot of money in the late '70's!!!
18. They've got it way wrong it's about _________________________________________________________________________ this length. NB, not drawn to scale .
19. Yip,I think binding would be good I thought it looked at a Bit " funny" , and that's why.
20.
I am falling for the mike lull t-bird 5 string bass. Just loking at it makes me start thinking, how can i possibly afford that. Sell my car, wifes car...... Then i remember i am not as young as i used to be and it might look wrong. How old is too old for this absolutely mutts nutts piece of kit? Ive never really been a fan of tbirds but this is calling me........
Go on - show us a picture- maybe a photoshop mock up thingy, then we can see how daft/cool it looks!!!
21. my first "proper"( it had a name!) bass was a Fender Mustang shorty, bought cheap following a fire/flood at the local music shop. This was followed by an Aria SB 600 which is real big boy - quite a difference !! a couple of years ago I tried a Mustang again - I reckon the are 30" scale , and the size of the body and neck felt almost toy- like - although it has to be said I've somewhat incresed in size over the years, so the comparative proportions have altered. I recently got the Squier VM Telecaster bass at 32" scale & that feels just fine to me , body has been sized to one for bass and neck doesn't feel much different to a standard scale and suits my wee fat fingers just fine. any thoughts on suitable string replacements?
22. I need a cheeky bass, I knew my shallow life was lacking something!!!
23. Here's our " winning" performance of some covers at a charity battle of the bands event in Edinburgh. I had food poisoning at the time , lucky it was a short set - I wore brown Set - The One I love - REM - Beautiful Stranger - Madonna - Sex on Fire - Kings of Leon ( our first performance of this) - Local Boy in a Photograph - Stereophonics
24. I don't think it's worth worrying about , or analysing to any great extent I do think some things - basses/guitars included are more feminine/masculine for some reason. I think my fiesta red bass has lovely curves and is a joy to hold - so SHE must be feminine , right?
