1. Pull yourself together man! DON'T PANIC!!!
2. I had a wee go at one . Looks and sounds good to me. End of review.
3. I wasn't sure about the tort plate , but it looks perfect!
4. Yeah when was the last half decent one? James Brown's Funky Christmas album is classic as is Elvis' Christmas album.
5. anything relicd or artifically roadworn
6. very impressive!
7. Yes, getting a bit excited about seeing the band as I remember them next march. Bit nervous too & prepared for mild disappointment. they're not as old as the Stones though!! Looking forward to the Lancaster/ Coghlan combo!!!
8. Ach , well. Ordered one from Andertons . Here's hoping!
9. Makes sense. I can play a guitar a bit. But can do bass a bit better, that's not saying much though.!!
10.
I do the same as Rick. When playing I only have the bridge cover on the bass
I too like bridge cover only for 2 reasons - it looks good and the pickup cover kinda gets in the way, for me anyway.
11. Prices and quality vary a bit. I'd say £280 for a good one, with free case would be reasonable . However if it's been advertised for a while, and not shifting ( there's a lot of that happening) in current market £250 ish might be realistic. Check the usual stuff & tightness of controls & strap buttons & a good set up makes a big difference. If it sounds, looks & plays well, what's not to like? Any use ? D
12. I very rarely do it , but just yesterday I buggered about with the action as I'd had my Jazz set up with flatwounds and then decided Ididn't like them ( action did seem high) , whipped them off & put a proper set of strings on & gave each saddle a few turns - seemed to work and I haven't broken anything - Result!!
13. Good post , good sir. I like a maple neck- I think all my current basses have one . Although I do like a sunburst/rosewood or dark/dark combo. However I think a Jazz suits rose wood for some reason- it's a visual thing
14.
Anything by the Sweet from "Blockbuster" to "Fox On The Run" Anything by Slade from "Coz I Luv You" to "My Friend Stan" Anything by Bowie from "Hunky Dory" to "Diamond Dogs" Suzi Quatro: "Can The Can", Devilgate Drive" "48 Crash" Arrows: "I Love Rock n Roll" Mud: "The Cat Crept In" "Tiger Feet" Gordie" "All Because Of You" Anything by Queen from the first 3 albums. Mott The Hoople: "All The Young Dudes" "Honaloochie Boogie" Any hit single by T.Rex That enough for you?
I think that just about does it!!! Definately Blockbuster - done like The King's version - fantastic !!! " Take me to the jungle room baby" " anyone know the road to Blockbuster?" Class.
15. Thanks - much appreciated. Now, I like Fenders, I like the sound of a Jazz, I have always liked Telecasters, I like the 2 pickup idea and I like how it looks and sounds. I can see where this is going! I'll nip into WHSmith to buy a specialist mag , again!!
16.
Just read about these in this months BGM, so did a quick search. There is the regular, which has a single coil pickup, and the special, which has a humbucker at the neck, and jazz pickup at the bridge. The clip below is of the special. Just love the sound, especially on the humbucker setting. I thought I`d cured my bass gas, but that sounds soooooo nice!
Was the review enlightening? Just curious.....
17.
Im a big big fan of short scale basses, so to me it feels fine. moved to short scales to help combat a neck problem i have. couldnt belive how much i like the feel, ballence and sound. Most of the things you will read about shorts are bull. there just as deep, the strings are not floppy and you can drop tune. I have three now, a mustang (with tape wound strings) Landing L2 (was on flats but just put tapes on coz i liked um so much on the mustang) and the tele (swaped the strings on this the day i bought it for Fender 5250ml) I think it will be getting tapes too !!!
Just read this - interesting!! Thanks.
18. yeah , I'm curious about them - liked them at first , kinda went off them , and now thinking my life is incomplete if I don't have one. However I haven't handled one or seen one up close are they only available on -line? If it was good quality & well built I think I'd go for ir - especially as I've sold some stuff & got some guitar stash! A friend recently bought a Squier VM Telecaster & reckons it one of the best guitars he's ever had & he had a big hang-up about the " Squier" brand " not a proper Fender " thing. Anyone got one?Any views?
19. I think probably black, maybe.
20. Nice one - looks very impressive I must say. There has been quite a bit of negative talk about Gumtree & scams and stuff, but I've found it a good place to buy & sell - avoid the daft messages offering more than the asking price if you ship it etc . I do like the try/buy/touch/feel mantra.
21. [sub]I think( some) Korean made are very under-rated, great quality, fantastic players and unbeleivable value for money!! ......[/sub] [sub][sub]............especially the Epiphone EB3 I'm trying to sell [/sub][/sub] [sub] [/sub]
22. Bet I'm not alone in wishing I could happen across something like this! Not a clue about value though £600-£700?
23.
Is this still for sale please ta Mike
yes still waiting to be snapped up!!!
