1. nice one - white is the new black!
2. I'm a maple kinda guy - but the 3 tone with rosewood & tort is the business - especially if the headstock is kinda honeyed.
3. Hope above makes some kind of sense! It was my attempt to cut and paste post showing bass and giving backgound
4. Hope this works & it's ok to do it Trying to fund purchase of another bass on here. So selling a MIM maple black Jazz Bass. Bought a few months ago from Tom1946 for £320. It came with a white pearlescent guard that I will include. Control panel has been shielded since purchase, new strings, capacitor put on to the tone control (sounds a wee bit brighter I think!) and a setup by 7string from this forum. Despite all of these upgrades, I am still only looking for £325+pp or looking to trade up to something better up to about £600 (ie this plus £250) due the the extreme GASage on this forum just now! Laklands, Shuker and Warwicks......... Basic image with black pickguard: Boring headstock image! Back of body and neckplate. Body shot to try and show marks on the body - one at back armrest bit and a mark on the upper horn. Back of head with serial no. edited out: Standard bridge Gigged twice since purchase and it played beautifully. Not for sale elsewhere but I am not desperate as I still like it, I like it a lot! Cheers! Don't have pics at moment but sure I could sort it out . D
5. Upgraded MIM Jazz - Black /Maple... maybe's aye maybe's no?
6. uhm, you need to be decisive c, or d. seems like they want you & you're interested - try c.Best of both.
7. oh and- Bryan Adams, on occassion Sheryl Crow, on occassion Dusty Hill(?)
8. To add to those above- Jack Bruce, I'd say had charisma, - he was also on a lot of drugs & also Alan Lancaster the original Status Quo bassman who strode up to the mikestand back in the 70's top tip- do the Phil Lynott machine-gun move!!!!
9.
Dunno why this thread is getting such a slagging, it's just someone trying to spark some conversation, and at 4 pages and rising, surely that's what a forum is about? To me, that's what a bass player should be really, to play and lay down what the song needs to drive it or make it groove and get people moving. I've never had any time for fretw***ery and unnecessary slapping when it can detract from the song, just cos the player 'can'. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it!
It's certainly an interesting , provocative and unfortunately worded topic. But it's not a hanging offence and nobody has died. I agree with the above - I'm a lover or rubbish players & also not so rubbish too - what's wrong with root notes... maybe an ocassional fancy flourish with a 3rd/fifth!! Just to show off, mind. Liked the Adam Clayton link - If i was him i'd be well chuffed - I did actually think it was him!
10. Have a I've got one and love it , bump !
11. Like the sound of that, I'll check it oot
12.
wur in scotland are ya fae
ouch,ohya!!! Must be Aberdeen
13.
Look beautiful. I'd replace this J with a lipstick pickup*. It'd look killer and give a hint of twang to this vintage princess. *But you have to know I'd replace a J pickup with lipstick in every bass except from Fender Jazz Bass maybe.
I'd go with that - looks class .
14. Still here shocker !!! I see the Mike Dirnt P is back up for sale. Have a cup of tea and chocolate brownie bump!
15. Look forward to seeing photies. what trades are you thinking of? D
16. Nice one - will it be shared? Must be unusual for 2 bass players to be married I would've thought. I think teachers are most often married to teachers. Enjoy the bass, you'll need matching plastic hat and jacket!
17. Gone ! Gumtree'd.
18. Sometimes INCREDIBLE goodness comes out of seemingly awful life situations. For those familiar with our stolen Bass saga...thanks to SO MUCH LOVE and effort by the #TroubleMaker Community to raise awareness of the story as well as the amazing work from within the VT team and management, FENDER has not only sent Rick a replacement bass identical to the one he lost...but they have now officially endorsed us worldwide. MASSIVE THANKS to Fender Guitar, McGhee Entertainment and #TroubleMakers everywhere! YOU made all the difference... The above is from the VT facebook page - result in a way but bass was/is still stolen
19. ... and here I that it was one of these stick-on "Facelift" thingies that cost £20!!
20.
But Robert de Niro is a 'method' actor. He lives his role out by becoming his character. He'd grow the long beard - not wear a false one. I was on about method actors on here just the other day. Dustin Hoffman stayed awake for 2 nights before doing the famous dentist scene with Olivier in Marathon Man. He looked a mess - knackered (as he wanted to) but kept falling asleep during the shooting. Oliver went up to him and said 'if you learned to act properly , dear boy , you wouldn't have to put ypurself through all this' ! I'm with Olivier.
Same ! Although I would say that Bobby hasn't really done anything too extreme for a while , well not the films I've seen him in , Focker!
21. Hunka- Hunka-Burnin' Love - class - it's my favourite especially if I've had a wee drink - then it's full-on( poor) Elvis impersonation. " Move along people there's nothing to see here, just a overweight middleaged man making a fool of himself, again." Love the version of Suspicious Minds posted above too... were 's my jumpsuit? Both these tunes are great with great bass playing serving the song
22.
No - but it#s a bloody good idea! It glues to my face (I have to shave my own shorter goatee beard off) and blends with my own moustache. The beard pulls off easily but the glue's a bitch.Usually 2 or 3 days sticking to my pillow before it goes flaky enough to shave off. I have to explain to folk not to be alarmed and there's nothing wrong with me because it looks like leprosy or something.
Wow !! If Robert DeNiro was was in a ZZ Top tribute band, he wouldn't go to these extremes! ( Mabe a Texan accent/gun in his boot...) Get the beard/hat combo man- save your face!!!
23. Love the jacket- is the beard attached to the hat like a Jimmy Wig?
24. Good that you could just knock one up from bits n bobs! Really like it.
