I've got the Behringer and MXR on the way so I'll see what they're both like. Behringer was £23 (!) so I'll keep it anyway. MXR is more than five times as much! Who cares if I get either of them to do what I need!

So going on what you've said, even with an MXR M81 (which I've ordered to test) I'm not going to drive the Sumo to its full potential? What are my options then? I thought a decent preamp pedal straight into the power amp would suffice. Seems not with the SBP-1.

I'm not doing that. It's bass > preamp > power. I'm not running a bass directly into a power amp.

It's the size and weight with the Sumo I was after. Or lack of. I've put my TE Elf head through it and I'm getting better results. Just ordered an MXR M81 and a Behringer BDI thing to compare and contrast. I can always send them back if I'm not happy or, knowing me, I'll just keep them!

Thanks for that. I love the Sadowsky but I might have to look into other preamps. So many good ones around. I can keep the SBP-1 for a DI if I'm not using my rig.

I have a Sadowsky SBP-1 running into a 600w GSS Baby Sumo. 4ohms into two TE 110 cabs. I don't think I'm getting enough volume from the Sumo even with two cabs, and I wonder if it's the Sadowsky that isn't 'driving' it enough. I love the small set up, and have built an angled wedge for one speaker and sit the other on an isolation pad. They're both 300w RMS. Brand new Custom Lynx speaker cables and connecting lead between the Sadowsky and Sumo. Articulate and clear but I don't feel it's loud enough. First time I've gone down the separate pre/power route. Could it be the preamp or somthing else...? Thanks

You are correct my friend! Obviously I hadn't put my old mind into overdrive... I was feeling a bit fuzzy and distorted.

Gospel board updated. Got rid of my Zoom MS-60b and replaced in with a Boss CE-5 as I was only using chorus on the Zoom. Great for bass. Added a TC Spectracomp. Blinding pedal!! Boss DD-200 doesn't get much use on gospel gigs, but that ain't going anywhere.

After I edit and save patches on ToneLib, the effects sometimes 'drop away' after a few times of me unplugging my power bank, thus powering down the pedal. They work for a while, and then sometimes they've just gone... The patch name is there on the screen, but the effect doesn't sound out. When I go back into ToneLib the patches show the effect isn't 'switched on' even though everything was good to go after my last edit. So I turn them on and the world is good. Then sometimes they go again. Hasn't happened to me at a gig fortunately, and I don't want it to, so could anyone help please? Why does this happen?

I like a bit of busy! I have some cream covers that I can fit. I'm leaning towards black with cream covers. Keep the tort if I want to change it up, and get rid of the white and black pearl. I don't think they work now I've had a good look.

Think I'm finished for now. Spent a bit of time on my gospel board today. Boss TU-3>Cry Baby 105Q Mini Wah>Boss NS-2>LOOP SEND>Boss OD-200>Zoom MS-60b>Caline SP-24>LOOP RETURN>Sonicake Levitate. Large Rockhouse flat board, EBS Solder-free patch cables, Joyo JP-02 power supply. All going into a Sadowsky SBP-1 and GSS Baby Sumo, and 2 x Trace Elliot 110 cabs. When I get paid I might upgrade the power supply but it's quiet, nothing sucks tone, it's neat and I've got plenty of options.

Possibly. I've tried it and it's the best yet so it's staying. I'm getting the sound I hear in my head finally.

Builing a new 2025 board. New patch cables (EBS solder free) have arrived, and the new board and pedal are in the post so I thought I'd plan it all out. Big space to be filled by...guess what?

Never tried that one. I've had go at so many and never got to where I want to be, so I thought I'd give the Cry Baby a go and it's working out well. Practise practise as they say.

Fed up with trying and selling autowahs and trying to find an envelope filter that I like (inc an Emma Discumbobultor - the orange one - which was close to being a keeper) so I went for a Cry Baby Bass Mini 105Q. Only had it a day or so and I've practised with it so much it's getting dirty already. Bring the funk.

I love the Sumo. Wish I'd have got a separate power amp before. I managed to try my mate's Ampeg SGT DI through it and it sounded immense. Not the sound I'm looking for for the gospel stuff I do but it really impressed. And yeh - one big knob!! I'm keeping my gear as simple as I am nowadays and it's fantastic. Feels like a hi-fi amp almost, and I've had lots of comments about its simplicity and looks, as well as the great tone I'm getting from this pairing. Happy.

A boutique-made Hiss Reducer/Tone Enhancer. It has one knob that goes from Hiss/Fart-in-a-Bottle to No Hiss/Justin Raines. Only kidding. Sadowsky SBP-1. Transformed my sound. Got a CryBaby Mini Bass Wah 105Q coming so I'm waiting to see how me and it get on.
