  1. Just bought two lots. I'm swapping out my flats on my Stingray SS. Love the flats but the stuff I'm doing now needs brighter strings. Thanks for the heads up!
  2. Definitely worth experimenting. Loads of stuff on it that I haven't played around with yet, but some things seem to have been overlooked (like the ability to use the internal speakers when hooked up). If it was 500w I'd be laughing. With a DI. I really like the tone at low volume. But if it was bigger then I'd compromise portability, size, weight, battery power etc. I practise at low volume at home, and gig and busk a lot outside and it's really useful to carry around. One gig bag, one lead, one amp - get on the bus and I'm off!
  3. That's what I wondered. I'll drop them a line. Toying with a preamp pedal as well (Radial/Sadowsky/maybe Sansamp) so I've got options.
  4. No I haven't. What would that achieve? You're right, there are two. One is under 'Cube link/Aux in' and the other is under USB. I can't test it at home as I dont have the right lead to connect to my rig/tower PA. Time to go shopping...
  5. Swapped to short scale basses because of a chronic wrist problem. Find them much easier to play and less painful even though I still have two full scale ones getting dusty. My Sire U5 is my current go-to, but I fancy that active SR sound that I had with my old 34" scale Stingrays. Can you straight drop an active preamp in there + battery without any extra routing for the battery compartment (something like a John East approach to jazz basses)? Has anyone done it and with what? Also would it be an idea to swap out the pickup at the same time?
  6. Anyone tried both? I play mainly passive basses so I'm looking for a more 'active' sound for some tracks (esp slap) as well as a cracking but affordable DI pedal.
  7. Thanks. It's a problem not having any sound from the internal speaker(s) once it goes into a PA. Kind of acts as a multi effects unit with a limited preamp plus amp modeler, looper and drum machine. I only tried one line out (L) as a test so I might persuade the sound guy to let me use both and see how it sounds.
  8. I've got an Elf head. With the two Elf cabs at 4ohms it's almost good enough. The Boss has loads of effects built in which would come in handy if it was reachable between tracks to change if I want to dial any in. Never looked at Barefaced cabs. Heard good things.
  9. I like the sounds of this little thing, and it's great for portabilty and features, but has anyone put it through an amp/PA for a full gig and what's the best way? It has two (R and L) line outs and no DI. I briefly managed to put it through a PA and it bypasses the speakers so I can't use it as an ear level monitor. The venues and churches I play in all have great PAs. I'm lucky. Gone are the days of shabby cesspits and crap front of house sound so I hope this is giggable. I play with a 30+ strong gospel choir so I need some volume without having to lift too many heavy cabs at my age...
