Like Dankology, I was after something which sounded as near as possible to an upright bass, in my case primarily for recording. I immediately replaced the fitted strings (roundwound bronze) with Rotosound 88s which are nylon coated flatwounds. I'm very pleased with the result and, in a mix, it's hard to tell that it's not an upright. All round, I'm absolutely delighted with this instrument. My only gripe; surely the extra expense of a can of decent grain filler wouldn't be a deal breaker for the consumer. But, despite the scrappy finish - mine is the black version - this is a fine instrument and would be a steal at twice the price.
