This is what I know Ok you're watching a video or at a live show , the Bass player is playing a fender bass and it sounds really good, Any professional BASS PLAYER doesn't buy a bass off the shelf, then uses said Bass , UNTIL HE OR SHE GETS THE fender BASS he got probably from Fender directly built exactly the way he wants it .for $0.00.00 I'm not saying Fender squires are shit BUT it is just one their bottom of the barrel basses , That In my opinion is a bass not worth the price fender wants for it and them. Ya want an off the shelf fender squier . Kool spend about another $700.00 to upgrade pretty much the entire bass. If you're a newbie to the bass guitar Buy a Fender Squire :?) Again this is about a personal Experience . I don't and won't play any Fender Bass again . doesn't matter if it's fenders cheapest bass or their most expensive. If you like fender BASSes Why would you care what I think about them

I never took a bass lesson , I started playing bass at 15 yrs old , I'm 62 now I'm ready to start a band since I can't find one to hook up with . I've been in alot of bands , blues , punk , cover , metal , thrash , all original , etc etc I practiced whatever Genre of music if a band had a badass BASS PLAYER I would learn as much as I could and then move on to the next. If you want to learn more about Bass guitar my opinion is " don't pigeon hole yourself by listening to just 1 or 2 genres of music :?) Keep an open mind and an open heart Here's a few Bass players I admire. Check them out. Billy Sheehan -- is , in my opinion is more than an incredible bassist , he's an innovator not an imitator. Brandon Michael --, he's the bass player that gives me problems learning how he plays what he plays. Steve DiGiorgio -- is a master/monster BASS PLAYER .. Playing BASS is the best thing I've been involved with. ENJOY YOUR JOURNEY

I'm right there with ya In 2025 in Reading Pa the Guitar stores that were here for decades have completely disappeared I think there is 1 store that you can still buy a new guitar or bass but it doesn't have any selection. I have never or would I ever buy a bass I haven't actually held in my hands , played it heard it through an amp . I see basses for sale on the Internet for thousands even tens of thousands. Who would be so stupid to buy a used bass for 5 -10 - 15 thousand or more without ever even seeing it before it shows up at your door. HELL NO NOT ME . As a matter of fact I wouldn't buy a bass that costs even $100.00 without seeing - playing etc etc A few years ago I was taught a valuable lesson DO NOT BELIEVE EVERY 1 OF THE SITES OR STORES ON THE INTERNET THAT SELL NEW & USED GEAR. ARE AN HONEST BUSINESS THIEVES ARE EVERYWHERE ESPECIALLY ON THE INTERNET.

I know hate is a word I ( hate ) to say : ) I don't hate , But I'll say that I was more than disappointed in everything , I thought the RICKENBACKER 4001 was going to be a BASS for life. IT was a Bass for about 2 months.. Yeah well it happened a long time ago.

I always wanted to have a RICKENBACKER that is until I bought a black 4001 in 1980 for around 700.00 . And then I played it . I was the worst money I ever spent on a bass I hated everything about it I sold it 2 months after I bought it. I don't like popular brand name basses. Fender - Gibson - RICKENBACKER - etc. I do like the Ibanez bTb series I do like some the PEAVEY basses I do like the SPECTOR basses from the 90s I do like the TOBIAS BASSES I do like 80s KRAMER 8 stringers I do like many of the,"cheaper basses" under 400.00 I've played the truth is" budget Bass guitars " have come a long way . My favorite Bass right now is a BRICE FREAK 5 str. that I paid $399.00 for in 2017 . It's one of the best basses I've bought in every way . I've not one time had to adjust anything on this bass , I know I know but that is the GODS honest truth. Later BASS PLAYERs

A long time ago friend had the real deal a Gibson Grabber. I hope gibsons subsidiary "EPIPHONE" makes a better grabber than Gibson did. The best thing about the Gibson Grabber was its name . The original Gibson Grabber was a POS. My friend wanted to sell it to me for $25.00. again , this was a long time ago. I didn't think it was worth $25.00 Because it wasn't :?)

I have 3 combo amps now , I've never been a big fan of small things , my crate has a problem , my bugera took 2 months for something to fk up , fender rumble hardly ever gets used . But it doesn't have any problems ( yet ). If course I've never played live on a combo .amp, but I've seen in the last few years, bands using combo amps on stage . Bass needs 2 - 15 or 18 inch speakers in ported cabinets . I've never owned a bass amp with 8 - 10 - 12 in speakers , I've heard 12 in speakers that didn't sound so bad but no speakers can give a BASS the sound that a few 15s and 18s will , that ground shaking underpass along with Crystal clear tonal clarity. Even my combos have 15s Little amps with little speakers are for a practice space or a bedroom not a stage. Doesn't matter what brand of combo amp it is . In the U.S. there's a saying " Bigger doesn't mean better . Not true when it comes to Bass Amps. I will never buy another combo BASS amp . If you're a bass player and your band has a show to play . Go big or go home. But Please don't play on stage through a combo BASS amp. : ? ) Nothing personal folks Opinions are like ***holes everyone has one and they all stink . *

An IBANEZ bTb 745 ntl or a 94 to 99 PEAVEY FOUNDATION 5 I can recommend them as being 2 of the best basses I've ever had , and they are not crazy expensive .

My post is NOT my attempt to show Bass players on BASSCHAT how " clever " I think I am , BUT I am pretty big (tall) 188cm in the UK - In the U.S. that is 6'2 😁 I agree with your reply 100% It's been my personal experience , not just my opinion, I have owned both expensive and basses costing under 400.00 dollars at the same time , more times than not I was choosing a bass I paid a few hundred dollars for , I'm talking no matter playing a show , in the studio , or whatever. My expensive " great " Bass guitars, were not getting played as much. Personal Experience vs. opinions My post is intended for the kinda BASS player that's just been playing for a short time. No pissing contest here Dan Dare. It's simply my curiosity doing what curiosity is meant to do . Makes me ask alot of questions., not only about Bass guitars about everything & anything.under the sun. :? ) Anyway we can only play 1 bass at a time right.
