  1. Hi Rick,

pleased to make your acquaintance. I'm new here myself, but I warmly welcome you and trust that you'll have an engaging time among the community.

  2. Thank you all! Rick
  3. If you make it to greater Boston, Gian Pangaro is the cat. https://www.studiopangaro.com
  4. Huge fan of this approach. I have a few of them, at various heights. In my case, I had the top of the pin tapered so that a bit of friction holds it in place. This was a great idea except: - sometimes the taper is too thin so the pin wobbles. I fixed that with a bit of painter's tape. - the length of the pin is more variable, so actual height is trial and error Also, I use a rubber cane tip on the bottom, but those wear out and they also harden over time, making it more difficult to play on waxed and clean surfaces (waxed wooden floors, marble, etc.)
  5. Hello everyone! Things in Boston are winding down a bit for the year, and I'm looking into 2025 for great things in music. I am a bassist in Boston, a Berklee Professor, composer, author, and music super fan. Gear? 1880s French double bass, 2010s Frankenstein electric bass (Warmouth body in a Fender J body and P neck, Sadowsky PUPs), 1980s Yamaha Fretless. GK amps. Music? I'm a music super fan, but I have an extensive jazz background which has incorporated a lot of things, from Ethiopian music to Cuban, Caribbean and Brazilian music; punk rock; gospel; R&B, and so on and so forth. Looking forward to "meeting" this community! www.rickmclaughlin.com and @rickmclaughlinmusic on socials for more.
