1.
I've had the TKS 115 on loan for the past fortnight..... I really enjoyed the rehearsals with this cab and TKS will definitely be on the list of bass cabs to look at when I can afford to upgrade my current cabs.
Thanks for the review. How did you find the dispersion? Which cab(s) are you accustomed to using?
 2.
Just for the record, I am absolutely loving my new NX2 212T. Reasonably portable and light. Beautifully balanced sound which responds very well to EQ. Very pleased I went for it.
Just for the record, I sold mine on (for what I paid for it, so good karma ll round ) - it should be collected this evening. I found it heavy and difficult to move around (and I'm no ten stone weakling), with a very scooped but boomy tone (with my set-up anyway). Good to hear how many people are chuffed with theirs, as it was certainly a good price. Just goes to show how different people's ears and expectations are!
 3.
I would prefer the bareface and bergs over the RS in my personal opinion.
The TC gear was flavour of the month a couple of years ago. Everyone was raving about it, then buying it. Then followed a period where the marketplace was flooded with TC gear - especially the amps. Taste is fickle. However, some people still rate the TC cabs very highly (the Dark Lord, for example).
 4.
Ha ha, + 1 to that, altjough I have to admit that I di find the acoustic in my wine cellar a little lively also
You obviously have too much white wine in storage. Red would give a much darker and fuller tone. And which port would you use? Well, given today's weather, don't be too choosy - any port in a storm!
 5.
I think from what you guys have said the Bergantino & Barefaced seem to be the most popular options.
You don't want to believe everything we say!
 6.
I think a 1x15 may be a bit bulky, I don't have a lot of room in the car.
A lot of modern 1x15s are considerably smaller than 2x10s IME. Depends on manufacturer though. £400, if spent on used gear, could get you one very good cab (Aguilar, Genz Benz, Schroeder, Bergantino, Barefaced, Purple Chilli, etc) or two more mediocre (or older) ones... Plenty of examples in the marketplace section. And remember, it's a buyer's market at the moment so don't be frightened to haggle a bit! http://basschat.co.u...ell-separately/ http://basschat.co.u...stems-2x12-cab/ http://basschat.co.u...al-grille-l380/ http://basschat.co.u...roqsolid-cover/ http://basschat.co.u...l360-collected/ http://basschat.co.u...-with-cover-fs/
 7.
Alex, you must get tired of reading these threads.
A manufacturer get tired of reading discussions about their products?
 8.
And I wouldn't describe the Compact as 'very transparent'.
I think we are using the word transparent to mean slightly different things here. and, it depends what you are comparing it to I suppose. And I've never found mine (or the older one I borrowed a couple of years ago) to be in anyway lacking in top-end. Then again I like my strings very new and tend to set quite a bit of top on my amp and'or bass... I find tweeters far too harsh IME. Now, comparing my Compact to a Genz Benz NX-212T... that was not a "transparent" cab. No matter how much mid-range I set on my amp or graphic pedal, it just disappeared into the cabinet, never to be heard again!
 9.
I think that's a "fair test" as you say. The Compact still sounds very good though. It's very light though and sounds very good.
Oh, are the light? Fair enough - your testing sounds more than "fair"
 10. This one.... Just love the grungey feel and some great-sounding guitar chords: Really like this one too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuYPCP2RSXA
 11.
The marketplace feels different, though - dunno if it's a result of the fees or just the changing membership on BC.
I would agree with that. There also seem to be more people who sign up just to sell stuff. I suppose that allows the rest of us to have access to gear that we otherwise wouldn't, but it does change the dynamic. There seem to be fewer of the "Basschat Bikes" as well - those basses that get passed around several members before (if ever) finding their permanent spiritual home. Then again, times change - and the market has been rather slow for a couple of years now. More trades though, which I actually enjoy!
 12.
As Wayne said, people generally don't criticise Barefaced on here much. Probably because of the aggressive responses they receive - as we see in this thread. "I waited five months, paid in full, and a month later couldn't even elicit an email from the company!" "I can't be doing with a cab that weighs 40kg. I mean, my back would give out if I just looked at one of those. Give me a B, give me an A, give me a, errrr..... what's after A?? Anyway, they're as light as a feather, and that's all that matters. End of."
Brilliant!
 13.
I have also A/B'd a Compact versus an RS210. I think the RS210 sounded a bit better
Better how? I'm not trolling or nit-picking, just genuinely interested in this comparison. The whole point of the Compact is that it is a very transparent, uncoloured cab that presents the sound of your amp and bass. Most other cabs (including the RS210) are voiced in some way (either by design or not!) to accentuate or attenuate certain frequencies - that's what gives them "their sound". So to do a direct A/B test with the same settings on your bass and amp is not really a fair test after all.
 14. How much volume do you need? How much power do you need your cabs to be able to handle? There are a couple of Barefaced Compacts in the for sale section on here - incredible cabs if you want loud, clear tone with almost no weight at all... And no wait at all (compared to buying a new one!) Bergs are excellent too and there are a few of them for sale. Don't rule out 1x15s. It is the cabinet that makes the sound, not the size of the speaker in it. Do you have a particular amp or amp manufacturer in mind? What kind of music and venues do you play? How big/strong are you and how good is your back? And yes, an idea of your budget would be useful...
 15.
Actually, this thread was about extended delivery delays, broken delivery promises and poor customer service, not about cabinet weight.
Ah yes, but it mentions the word "Barefaced" in the thread title, so all the usual suspects pop in to make their usual comments and digs about BF cabs, BF owners and BF management. It is all getting rather tedious. Most of us who now own BF gear have been through many of the cheaper and heavier alternatives. Not many of us say that BF cabs are the "best" sounding gear there is (sound is, after all, hugely subjective) or the best to look at (although some people like 'em!); but the overall package of tone, quality, loudness, lightness and price makes them a very good buy for those of us that like them. There will always be people who, for whatever reasons, dislike certain products. That's cool. Their loss. But to constantly dig and snipe whenever a BF thread comes along is just pointless and makes them look bitter. There is enough gear out there for everyone to find their favourites. Just let them/us get on with it, eh?
 16. I bet those recesses are a nightmare for accumulating dust, sweat and all sorts of gunk! One of those things that looks good but is probably a bit of a pain in use? Does it have broomsticks as well?
 17.
Email Fender with the serial number. They'll probably be able to help you out.
Think I'll try that. Can't do any harm, can it? Cheers
 18.
Possibly, any pictures and where are you located?
It says Stockholm, Sweden in his avatar thingy...
 19.
They were introduced in 1998 as I remember
So is there any way I can find out when it was made? Not that it is earth-shatteringly important, but it would be nice to know!
 20.
I'd have bitten his ankle and p*ssed on his shoes, but then that's what dogs do.
You are an example to us all.
 21.
But the OP lent his gear, so what's "enough" for him doesn't come into it!
Agreed - and alluded to in the post above.
 22.
Unfortunately, I think the main clue is right there in the main post. If you lend out a rig where the amp is WAY too powerful for the cab, then you really are asking for trouble.
Yeah. Easy to say in hindsight, but true. That set-up may be perfect for the OP, but some people will always just turn an amp up loud - especially if they are used to cheaper gear.
 23.
I thought that was not worth + million. Nothing is really is it
A Fodera?
 24.
I would never gig with just 1 210! That's not enough, and my rule of thumb is to have more watts in the speakers than I have in the amp.
That's maybe a bit unfair. The OP has presumably bought his set-up based on how he uses it. If he wants to have only a small cab, but wants plenty of headroom by running a big amp, surely that's his prerogative? For him, it clearly is enough. The problem comes from other people using his gear and 1). Not being familiar with it, 2). Not treating it with respect 3). Not having a clue how to set a decent, audible tone 4). Not giving a monkeys.
 25.
Eh?
Eude quoted my post and stated "+1000000". You implied it wasn't worth that... I was upset. Well, I wasn't really - just trying to make a bit of a joke... Oh, never mind. Back on topic!!
