How about a new section on BC where we could advertise our travels/willingness to transport something.
I like that idea! Instead of paying a courier, we could have a relay chain of Basschatters ferrying stuff across the country for petrol money as they go off on their travels! It could work.... The musical instrument's equivalent of hitch-hiking perhaps? Slightly more seriously perhaps, I've never had a problem shipping or receiving gear via courier. And that includes probably about a dozen basses, a couple of guitars, combos, effects and even an Ampeg head! That said, it was over £70 to have my Spector shipped from the Midlands with (grrrr) their insurance.
But why do people always mention the 'poor technique' thing....its quite derogatory.

Personally, I'd opt for a Berg CN212.
So is stating, on a thread specifically about BF products, that you would buy something completely different - especially when you don't bother to give any justification of your reasoning. And I agree that a very clean set-up does expose any technical deficiencies in its owner's playing. Still, you can be a "good player" but have poor technique, can't you?
For the record I am neither a hater nor a lover. I have not tried one.
Therefore, surely, your input to such threads is of limited value? That's another thing I notice about BF threads. Loads of people feel it necessary to share their opinions without any relevant experience to back it up (and I am not picking a fight with you here HF, just making generalisations). All I can say is that since discovering BF products (and I have owned 2 different ones) I would not want to go back to "old school" heavier and larger ones. Other than price, there is absolutely no need to. I get the tones I want and far more volume than I need from a smaller, lighter package. I agree with some of the comments about the look of the BF range, but then again they do have a quirky originality that is somehow very "British" (IMO). And as someone else said, once you start playing your back is to your gear anyway. And despite what we might think (or fear), very few punters even look at the bass player, never mind their amplification set-up! Back on topic though, I am not convinced that the arrival of g3 will see a drop in prices of the older ranges. At the end of the day these are niche products, made in small quantities. Demand far outstrips supply (as shown by the long wait times). Added to that, most people who buy a BF product tend to only change (or upgrade) to another BF product - keeping waiting times long, but ensuring a constant trickle of the cabs on the used market. I bought (or traded) both of my BF cabs used. As long as the previous owner took care of them this can actually be an advantage as the speakers are properly "broken in". It's all good
( I wouldn't buy the cheaper version either ) .
Really? Widely regarded as one of the best basses Fender ever made. I love 'em. Anyway - back OT... -
Ordered mine through Amazon. OK, a couple of quid more expensive than Sainsburys Online, but as I already have an account I get free delivery and don't have the ballache of entering all my details... And I now have the MP3 version to listen to on my Cloud Player! Definitely a big improvement. Much clearer and with good separation between the intruments. I used to find VT very challenging and tiring to listen to, but not this new version. Now can they do the same with CA?
I would be interested to know if other people think it is wrong or ill-advised to buy superior quality, higher cost versions of established designs. the final sound that comes out of a boutique Fender-style bass that costs three grand isn't that different to what you get from one that costs eleven hundred quid ( or less)
http://www.fender.com/en-GB/custom-shop/series/limited-edition/limited-geddy-lee-1972-jazz-bass-maple-fingerboard-black/ -

Spector don't make any bad basses, but they may not be everyone's cup of Lapsang Souchong so try it out if possible. The market is slow at the moment and definitely skewed in favour of buyers, so think carefully as you might end up with a bass that you don't get on with, but struggle to sell on.

Sold Status S2 Classic Bass through neck headless Bass
Anything you would recommend?
Date of manufacture is always useful. Weight. Other body woods. Any changes or modifications from the standard SII. Details of the active circuitry and pickups... Status owners tend to know this stuff, but if you want to tempt someone into maybe owning their first Status you might want to give a bit more away! -
Put some thick electrical insulation tape over them. It stops the nasty clacks and pops when the strings touch the pole pieces. Barefaced products seem to divide this forum's members like the Red Sea!! No idea why... I have a Compact. I used to own a Vintage. I have no idea which "g" either of them were or are. IME, there have never been enough BF cabs around to satisfy demand. Whether that is a deliberate marketing strategy is something I am unqualified upon which to comment. Whatever the advances, I have no desire to shift my Compact just to get another Compact. I'd love a super 15, but that's another issue - and I'd happily settle for a g1, g2or g3!!
are all jazz picks the same
No. But then on some Jazz and jazz-type basses the relative volume of the A and D strings is less than that of the E and G... And Fender make a number of necks with different fingerboard radii... which further complicates the matter!
