Nope It's an intro thread that reads like I should already know who the geezer is. I'm not psychic.....
Fair enough. I can see where you are coming from now...
Guy who? That reads like I should already know you or something?
Are you just trolling?

Excellent! Now all we need is for Geddy Lee to join up too! BTW, has the original thread been deleted? I would have been interested to see the conclusion to it...

This is it's bigger brother... but gives an idea of what they can go for.
Actually, if I'm not sorted with something by June, I might be knocking on your door cap-in-hand again.
Nee botha. Bring the little 'un over this time so the girls can have a play!

What a great thread! I was about to mention Hannah Hannah, but to be pipped to it by the bloke what wrote it is pretty cool too! Flaunt the Imperfection is still one of my favourite albums. Some beautifully tasty (and tasteful) playing on there Gazza. Great stuff
The vintage I've used in the past has the nicest mids and top-end of any cab I've every owned. Presumably the S15 continues that...
Seconded! And proof of the flaws in the "tens for mid-punch and fifteens for bass" argument

Not sure what your definition of "light" is, but I play a Hartke LH500 through my BFB and it soulds great to my ears. It is in a rackbag, which reduced the weight. Although I have never weighed it, it is an easy one handed carry.

Damn! I thought this was a Blue Oyster Cult thead too!
and John Giblin
Totally! IMO the most tasteful fretless player there is/was. He played on some great stuff with Fish (Vigil in a wilderness of mirrors album) and John Martyn (especially Grace and Danger and Glorious Fool). Other stuff too numerous to mention - but there is not a lot about him on the web... A lovely laid-back style that always sounds more simple than it actually is to play! This live version actually features Alan Thompson, who plays in a very similar style to Giblin. Not many videos of JG playing live... He also suffered consistent problems with the string-break angle on the bridge of his banjo-bass. Times was tough Muskie.... oh yeah, times was tough. -

It looks like I may not be able to attend this gig after all Face value of the pair of tickets is £65 each. The two tickets plus various booking fees and postage cost me over £140, but I would be happy with less than that for a quick sale. I will post them out recorded delivery. The only remaining seats (according to TicketSoup) are in a block with restricted view. These two are in block F (Geddy's side) and are numbered P15 and P16. Open to offers and even possible trades!!
Why buy an instrument you're not happy with and then try and shape it into something you do like? Just buy what you want in the first place!
I would have thought that was obvious? Nobody buys a bass that they know they are unhappy with, but sometimes your tastes or needs change. A new pickup or bridge might come on the market and you want to try it... you might want to "bling" up your bass with some gold hardware... The bass that has all of the features you want might not be made by any manufacturer. Not everyone has the money to go down the custom route (and some that do are disappointed). If you have a stock bass that you like playing, but want to change it - what's the problem? Why do some people get so bent out of shape by mods that others do to their own personal property? Fair enough if you try to sell it as "upgraded" and add to its price you are being a bit presumptious - but I think most buyers on here know enough about the market to spot a blatant attempt at profiteering don't they?
-
There were definitely differences.... but I couldn't really say which ones I preferred! To be trulu objective you would have to listen without looking at which bass it was - and judge purely from the tone. Just out of interest, is the pickup positioning identical on all those basses? Maybe its down to the body colours and neck woods - but some of them looked to be more like 70s spacing, with the bridge pickup closer to the bridge...
