1. That is massively cool!! Happy Birthday indeed!
 2.
http://www.atkinsonb...multimedia.html
"Pea" bass?!?! A very fruity tone maybe? OK - vegetabley.
 3.
You have to take each experience on its own merit - its not exclusive.
Every musician is an individual. Every band is composed of musicians. I don't understand why anyone would assume that all audition experiences would even be similar - never mind identical!! From personal experience though, I would say that it was common practice for the band to choose the songs. It depends on the circumstances though. If they are looking for someone to slot in very quickly and there is only a very short time to prepare for the audition it would of course make sense to choose songs that the auditionee already knows. If I was auditioning a bass player I would choose probably three or four tunes that represented a range of bass styles. For example a simple groove-based track to assess timekeeping, a fast riff to check out dexterity and accuracy and maybe a slower and/or more melodic track to see whether the bassist has much in the way of taste. YMMV of course
 4. These will be wasted unless someone can use them.... I'd even give them away to a deserving BassChatter!
 5.
Luke those Geddy's have japanese pups..
Really? I thought they were US "vintage"?
 6. I don't see whats supposed to be so funky about him. Is it 'coz he is black? Self-indulgent effects fiddling and a few tired riffs is all I can hear. He seems technically sound, but just has nothing to say IMO. Sorry - I would like to like him! Some of his better work... 7. Looks like one bridge saddle that's been replaced... is everything else original?
 8. I wonder if you would get more interest if the tuners were arranged like a Jazz rather than a MM? Just a thought. Any reason why they were arranged in that style?
 9. Sadly, after looking forward to this gig for months, the stars have misaligned and I am now unable to get there. Leamington Spa Assembly. (Great venue by the way!). This Saturday (May 5th). Face value of the tickets is £15 (not including various fees) - so I think a tenner each posted is fair?
 10.
But then when they do introduce something a little different. It doesn't sell so they take it out off production.
The man speaks the truth
 11.
My own unenlightened experience is that nothing makes a mic start to feed back faster than covering it with your hand ...
This.

 13.
Remember - ain't no such thing as a bum note in jazz. It's just a really clever minor 9th harmony.
I prefer to call them "chromatic passing notes"
 14.
i was playing a semitone out!!
I wouldn't worry about it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewTJWKeGLAY
 15.
Rosewood is harder than maple.
Fight! Fight! Fight!!
 16.
After all we are not a sales site.
Key point here! In some ways internet forums are not that different to the "real" world. If you meet someone for the first time and immediately try to sell them something, they might be rather reserved. Try to sell that same something to a mate and it is a lot easier. It can also be perceived as rude when someone joins a community will the sole purpose of selling an item. Not saying that is the case here, but it has definitely happened in the past. Remember TIM??
 17. Maybe more "Lovers' Rock" than reggae... but still a very nice, tasteful bass part IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDGA-1f01V0
 18.
Don't care. I have rosewood, maple, wenge and ebony fretboards and, for me, the shape of the neck as a whole matters more than what the frets have been hammered into. Once it sounds good, feels good and looks good I just don't care what it is and all are perfectly capable of meeting those criteria. Most people can't tell one from the other with their eyes closed.
This with knobs on! I've also played ebonol and graphite necks/boards and would totally agree with this comment.
 19. Holy Cow! Looks like this might be on hold!!
 20. The problem with "one offs" is that they can be seen as custom and practice. Next time your village wants to celebrate something they will remember the two bands that will play for nothing. That's fine if you are prepared to continue playing for free, but if not you may suddenly appear greedy. Have you asked the PA company if THEY would be prepared to forego their fee in the interests of helping the village? If they aren't, then there is a certain amount of unfairness going on. Still, if your consciences are clear it's really nobody else's business.
