1.
I'm looking to buy secondhand and barefaced rarely see more than 1 owner, we all know why.
They do come up on the used market (as my Vintage did) but not often, and they tend to get snapped up pretty quickly...
  2.
I reckon it's a joke -- there are too many spelling errors.
Dunno about it being a "joke", but it certainly doesn't read like it was written by any decent (sic) lawyer. The confusion seems to have stemmed from the (perceived) change to the title. They call it "High Heeled Sneakers", you call it "Hi Heel Sneakers". Potayto/Potarto... Maybe they think that you are trying to rip them off by selling copies of a song that is clearly (in their eyes) bearing a title too close to theirs... As far as what to do about it? I think you are right to seek further clarification from those "in the know".
  3. I know you are trying to free up space Chris, but would you be interested in a trade for my Trace 2x15 as an extention for your MK500? Cash my way too... It's always worth asking!
  4. Amazing. I don't think of him as a "pick player", just a great player. What a talent!
  5.
I just read an Caveat Emptor piece which gives motive to this one of yours mmmm skez
Yes. The plot thickens and leaves me feeling decidedly uncomfortable...
  6.
I really think basschat needs a rule like talkbass that we don't disucss deals gone bad (personal or commercial).
Eh? Allow people to rip you off (either intentionally or unintentionally) and just get quietly on with your life? The whole "trust" thing relies on knowing who is trustworthy and who isn't. It sounds like the OP has exhausted the "private communication" route and is still unhappy. I think we all need to know about these occurrences. Unless you are happy to be the next victim of course?

    Yamahas
As for lack of character, I have been playing a BB604 for 8 years, and have recently bought a BB605. I reckon on dialing in most tones I need, as for his Status, pretty one dimensional "hi-fi" for my tastes. But then again, it's in the fingers isn't it?
Er.... I can't comment about the Yamahas as I've never played one, but my mid-eighties Status Series II is the most tonally versatile instrument I have ever played! Maybe I need to try some Yammies though?!
  8. More gushing positivity for Tom! Just bought his Squier P-bass. No problems at all. Clear communications, prompt delivery and the bass was beautifully packaged. All this on a bass costing less than a tank of unleaded! Top quality. I would not hesitate to deal with Tom in the future - and neither should you!
  9. Brilliant!! To be fair, it could be a real Steinberger but the guy printing the logo was seriously dyslexic...
  10.
Bump for a stunner!
Yep! And it's a lovely bass too!
  11. This... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=125690 Leaving you £200 for a decent second-hand 250-500 watt amp...
  12.
I'm just wondering, should I keep this as a static practice room cab and flog my ashdown mag 410?
Dunno about that! The HH is only rated at 200watts whereas the MAG is what, 450? OK, fairly ambitious on the Ashdown - but if you play loud and/or use a powerful amp the 4x10 might be the better option. Depends on how they both sound of course. Personally, I never cared much for HH gear...
  13.
I have to say that, if I make an offer to someone it tends to be low. I'd offer maybe £50 less, expecting them to split the difference and come back at £25 less. Of course I'd hope that they'd accept £50 less .
Exactly. And in most cases the seller will take this into account in setting the original selling price. Ask for a bit more than you think it's worth, get knocked down a bit and everyone's happy. It's not rocket science. Unless you work in NASA's jet propulsion labs of course - in which case it probably is.
  14.
If you don't like it, just don't respond.
Uh-oh... "dirty laundry in public" warning.
  15. I'm quite happy to indulge in a spot of haggling. Unless the ad says "firm price" or "No offers" I assume that it will be OK to slightly undershoot the asking price. The trick is to be bold enough to get yourself a decent saving but not so bold that you offend the seller! Now, someone please haggle with me over my Trace cab!!
  16.
I have 2 basses for sale at the moment and sadly I've had an offer on each, one was £65 less than the asking price and the other £55 below. To my mind that is a bit insulting and they were turned down flat. By all means make an offer but make it sensible!
I thought ten quid was a fair offer on the Squier!? As they say up here: "Shy bairns get nowt!"
  17.
Happy to Geoff if you pay the difference and get me a night with the lady in your avi
Suzi Quatro?! She's nearly as old as you mate!
  18.
On the upside, Bob, I am loving your avatar. Entirely encapsulates that 'cornucopia of choice' moment that makes life worth living.
Or the "options paralysis" that detracts from it...
  19.
By the way, if anyone wants to sell anything with a bit of graphite in it (or a headless bass), please let me know!
20.
So, so far so good. But then again, I mainly deal with regulars that have excellent feedback and reputations as jolly good human beings.
Good point. When I first joined here I was advised to deal very carefully with members who had little or no feedback. I appreciate that we all have to start somewhere, and I was very careful to make sure that my first dealings were prompt, clear and polite. As a result I now have some decent feedback and hopefully others can deal with me confidently... Something to watch out for.
  21. Sorry if it sounds like more gloating or rubbing it in, but I've only had positive buying and selling experiences on here - and some of them have been pretty tortuous due to logistical considerations! I think the OP seems to have been extremely unlucky. To suffer timewasters occasionally is only to be expected, but to have it repeatedly sounds like bad luck to me... Shame, as they are lovely basses too!
  22. That is indeed a beautiful bass. Would you trade it for a Squier Affinity P bass?
  23. You only after basses as trades? What about amplification/cabs?

    SOLD.

Hey Tom! This one would be a nice match for the no-name J you sold me last year! Does this come with a gigbag at all?
  25. The Fender ones are great. Well padded, quality zips and look pretty good too. About £25 brand new. Think I got mine from Sounds Live... http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~F...ag~ID~12591.asp
