So,am I the only person here who enjoys (or admits to enjoying) soloing?
Personally, I hate soloing. I'm not a big fan of bass solos by anyone, but I absolutely detest doing them myself. Then again, there are solos and solos aren't there? There's the "Ladies and gentlemen, Big Geoff on bass..." eight bars of attention-seeking when the guitars and keyboards shut the feck up for a little while, and there's the Michael Manring/Vic Wooten several minutes of unaccompanied bass guitar. It's the same when I speak though - I prefer to speak only when I have something worth saying. Sadly, my bass playing vocabulary is nowhere near as extensive as my spoken English...
Of course, I don't know if the Curbow is the same bass (is that what the C stood for?) or are they completely different? Glad to confuse you further......
Yeah, thanks for that!! This pic clearly shows that it is possible to get a hard case for these basses, but I've had no luck in tracking one down. Any suggestions welcomed!

part of my bass resonates when I play some notes

Another possibility could be a loose truss rod... but I'd certainly check out the bridge first! -
The OP stated that you had to be a pro. I'm not and never have been (although I guess being paid for gigs as part of a band makes me a semi-pro?). Most of us amateurs would only do gigs that we wanted to, but if it was my only (or even main) source of income I would take whatever I could get. You never know what it could lead to, and after all I have three kids to feed and a mortgage to pay!

Could be that one of the adjustable 'legs' on one of the bridge saddles is not quite making contact with the flat part of the bridge? If you've the right size allan key, just give them all a tiny tweak to feel if they are loose. It doesn't take much! -
i really have been trying to resist but not neutering on moral grounds! blow a raspberry at the ex for me if you see her. thats the nicest way of putting it anyway. ad
This. Incredibly irresponsible. I have two cats (which I am also looking to rehome) and the damage they do to the local wildlife populations is very worrying - mainly small mammals and birds, but they have even brought an adult rabbit into the house before!! I shudder to think of the level of predation that 29 cats would be responsible for.... indirectly of course - it's your ex who is really responsible!

I really like Billy and his views. He has some really interesting stuff to say and he is intelligent enough to put it across well. If only all celeb bassists had as much involvement in the development of their signature instruments! I have to say though that he is one of only a very small number of bass players of whom I have absolutely no desire to play like or sound like. I know his tone works for him and sounds nice within the mix on tracks he plays on - but it does nothing for me. A couple of times recently my band has learned Dave Lee Roth or Mr. Big tracks with a view to playing them. I have really struggled to nail the bass parts. In fact, to be honest, I haven't got anywhere near them! I was never influenced by Billy and can't get a tone anything like his. Not surprising on a Status maybe?! Best of luck to the guy - but not for me I'm afraid.
For punk I'd just get a £60 P bass copy and then you can wave it around your head a few times when you get excited without worrying about the depreciation!
A P copy for sixty quid!?! Really? Where on earth could one get such a thing? -
There is a thing called "false economy" and another called "too good to be true" when something is that cheap, there's got to be a downfall somewhere... shame, because it looked a nice bass.
Wise words. But there's another that says 'Never look a gift horse in the mouth'... That's the great thing with comments of this nature - there really is one for every occasion!

Quoting the manufacture date of your bass.
The pre-August 2009 Corts are generally considered to be better balanced than the post-August 2009 Corts ... we need to know which month yours is.
What about the ones actually made IN August? -
Quoting the manufacture date of your bass.
Conan replied to machinehead's topic in General Discussion
It's just information isn't it? Some people like to have lots of info, others feel they don't need it... I list the date of Manufacture of my Status because Status fans are interested in that sort of thing. Makes you feel part of a family, but also lets you know which generation you belong to! I list the date of my Cort with a slight sense of irony... -
Cheers Man! I never knew how to do that...

Is this about bass players who predominantly play a P or are best known for playing one, or just anyone who has ever played one, even for one track?! John Deacon David Margen Byron Miller Steve Harris Roger Waters (for tone) Stanley Clarke (I'm sure he must have played one at some stage...!)

Do any other strings compare to DR Sunbeams?
Recent discovery- Status Hotwires. Have a look, see what Rob and Dawn can do for you. Huge range of types and gauges, plus they're well made, sound good and are durable.
I'm liking the look of them too. After years on Elites I fancy a change but don't want to play the "boutique" prices... If I buy the double-ball strings in a pack of six they come in at twelve quid a set!! -
