1. So in effect, you got a brand new amp for less than half price! Outstanding! Well done Fender, and well done you!
 2. Be aware that if you have fat sausage fingers (like mine) then the controls are extremely close together on these amps. They are also very easy to move - meaning that they are easily knocked out of position too... It might not bother everyone, but I found it insufferable and sold the amp on...
 3.
Two weeks since I bought my first sire I can't put it down, it's a keeper.
Get it in your sig then!
 4.
Having said that, for some players, weight is the number one priority. So I can see the attraction.
Yes and no. I value a lightweight cab, but if it sounded rubbish then that's exactly where it would end up. I moved back to my current BF Compact from a pair of Bergantino HS210s. I prefer the sound I get now, and the difference in lugging my rig about is phenomenal. I also tried one of the much-vaunted Genz Benz Neox 212s. Again, a decent cab, but I prefer my Barefaced gear. The only other cab I have tried, liked and stuck with is the TKS H115. It's not as light as the Compact, but is still very manageable. It also sounds great (to my ears) Despite what some people continually state, not everyone uses Barefaced cabs because they are light, and only because they are light!
 5.
Love the engineering and thought that go into barefaced cabs, but i could not live with something built out of 9mm plywood !.....
Try one! They feel surprisingly robust and after a while you don't think about the construction - just the lightness and the sound.
 6.
Not an issue for me. My preferred Jazz bass tone is everything on full.
Moi aussi
 7.
Guess I'm not going to be able to sell my 2 Barefaced in time to get these back then
Christ Karl - what are you like?!
 8.
I'm sure many of us will have memories of making "mix-tapes" or of borrowing friends' (expensive) LPs to tape.
I never did that because I would have killed music...
 9. I always liked the Bergerac theme music. Not sure this is the original version with the lovely fretless bass mind... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9iyPEJ4ELw
 10. Sounds like all synth to me... but I haven't listened to it for a while. I will remedy that this evening Edit: Listening to it now, and I think there is some bass there too. That will obviously be LJ - but I have no idea who played the synth bass parts. Sorry!
 11.
The way he stains when stood at the microphone...
Are The Skids looking for a new singer?
 12. It is possible to play bass in a "busy" manner, but with taste: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ll2aNt5giVM
 13.
Thats because there's nothing remotely musical as far as slap bass goes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Amzp7W0RkPA
 14. I thought this might be more about Chic and Jerry Barnes...
 15.
Watching on iPlayer right now and I must admit that some of Jerry Barnes' playing is getting on my nerves. Mind you - that's true of lots of music on TV. Too easy to start over analysing and picking holes - just as I've been doing here, lol
A very detailed analysis - and I agree with just about every word! On the other hand, it is great to see the bass guitar being given "centre stage" as it were, and loud enough in the mix to actually hear all that over-playing
 16. Great amps these, and fantastic value - especially at this price!
 17.
I don't like that plunkety sound
18.
middle-aged bass players isn't his target market.
Sad but true
 19.
Led Zeppelin i was very disappointed ...the highlight was Chaz n Dave
There's a view you don't hear very often!
 20.
Quite, it's the usual muso whining... I've just being having a listen to their set now, and it sounds pretty damn fine to me. The groove is good, the bass player is throwing a few embellishments in here and there, but it's a live gig ffs. Get over yourselves.
It's a bass player's online forum. We're not allowed to talk about bass playing now? I thought he overplayed, and showed some (IMV) quite questionable taste in places. Still a great player though and I wish I had half of his chops! If Nile Rogers likes his playing then who am I to slag him off? Bizarrely though, it seems that some players are fair game for the criticism all the time. Geddy Lee? Flea? Mark King? Janek Gwizdala? I don't see why Mr Barnes should be above that?
 21. Just raising my head here, in case I'm accused of Conanism...
 22.
A Jazz cannot do the P "sound", not really even close.
I know I am in the minority here, but I disagree. I mostly play J basses, but have owned a few Precisions - mostly because people keep saying that "a J can't do a P sound". My feeling is that at full band volume, the two are certainly close enough for me (and bandmates, and audiences). In my current and previous bands, we play(ed) a couple of Stranglers and Pixies tracks. I love a bit of JJB and/or Kim Deal, and I always felt that my J basses, with the neck pickup soloed, got pretty damned close to those tones. None of the P basses I have owned (and subsequently sold!) did it significantly better. IMO, YMMV etc of course!
 23. Any chance of a translation?
