1.
2. 26 pounds seems very light. I have known some cab makers to be less than honest on their weight ratings. Is it really 26LBS
I haven't placed one on the scales, but all I can say is that when I first picked one up I did a real "double-take"!! I assumed that Alex must have forgotten to put a speaker in the box!! Incredibly light. My twelve year old son sometimes accompanies me to rehearsals, and even for him the Compact was a one-handed lift! Tone-wise, massive - that's massive mid-range honk/growl. I think of it as "shouty". No problems being heard with this one. As WoT says, the sparkly ultra-top end is lacking but if you want that I guess this cab wouldn't be your first call anyway. Again, the sub-woofer lows are not there either but other than mushing up the on-stage sound, do they really contribute much? If you are simply using your on-stage set-up as a monitor and going through a decent PA you won't need that low end anyway. If you like the tone (and I think it is rather subjective and depends what you are used to) then your arms and back will definitely thank you for it!!
 2. At the risk of incurring criticism, I honestly don't understand why this is seen as a big problem. I can see that some people have been unlucky and therefore feel bitter, and others have been lucky and therefore feel smug/benevolent! Yes, there is a "community" feeling on here - even though it can be sorely tried by some of the comments that are made (or taken) out of context. My own feeling (based on fairly limited experience of buying, trading and selling on here) is that what goes around comes around. Anyone who is widely viewed as taking the piss will end up shunned by the majority and subsequently find it difficult to deal on here. Guys (and I use that term in a non-gender specific way!) who are regarded as being "cool", fair, call it what you will; will usually shift gear pretty quickly. If both buyer and seller are happy with the price/deal, is it really anyone else's business?
 3. Sadly they are not much use with a Status series II...!
 4. Notes Studios in North Shields has an old Trace 4x10 combo running through an anonymous 1x15 extension cab in one room, and Ashdown MAG stuff in the other two. When I'm feeling lazy, they do the job, but I try to take my own backline wherever possible. I can't believe that there are rehearsal places that have MarkBass gear!! How much extra do they charge per hour? We pay £12.50 an hour whether we use their gear or not.
 5.
My guess is that the 6-7dB won't be that noticeable for most people. How many people use an 8x10" at full power?
I may be wrong here, but isn't the decibel scale logarithmic? Meaning that an increase in 10dB makes a sound 10 times louder? In which case, would 6-7 dB be a huge increase in perceived volume? If I'm wrong of course, please ignore this b0ll0cks!!
 6.
I'm guessing you mean Speakon (Neutrik) sockets, rather than XLR.
Trace cabs have XLR, not speakon. (At least my old mk IV gear did...)
 7.
i hate the 'compressed' sound you get if the mids are too high.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "compressed tone"... Can you be a bit more specific?
 8. It's good playing... technically impressive and all that.... But it leaves me a bit cold. Were the drummer and bass player playing together in the same room at the same time? There doesn't seem to be a lot of interaction going on.
 9.
MY RICK 4003 IS NOW SOLD, THANKS
10.
I've never actually tried bellowing insults & accusations at my potential customers. Worth a go?
It can't hurt. Oh, sorry I misread your post....
 11. Absolutely stunningly beautiful! Good luck with the sale! Of course, it will never sell on here because nobody buys anything... but good luck all the same!
 12. Going.... going..... going....... GONE! Sold to the gentleman called Tim at the back of the room. Who says that nothing sells on here?
 13.
Where is Geoffrey? He spouted a little vitriol my way and then disappeared. The Schecter remains unsold!!!
Leave us Geoffreys out of it if you please! Wasn't he called George?
 14. No one mentioned RoqSolid so far?
 15.
I would have assumed he was a troll from the first post. Hoever his record of pretty much only posting things to sell, rather than making any form of positive contribution, suggests he really does not understand how forums work... IMHO of course... I've found Basschat an excellent place - probably the best UK focused musical forum there is in fact... Mark
Absolutely!! Market forces and all that. Advertising something on here often makes one aware of that item's true value, rather than what you would ideally like it to be worth... I've had no problem buying or selling (or trading) on here. But maybe I'm a smidgin more realistic in my expectations?
 16. My Cort Curbow 5 is very light, so I don't imagine a six would be much heavier...
 17.
Cheers! I forgot!
No problem. Probably a good idea to say where you are too - especially if you prefer "local" collection Good price for a great amp BTW!
 18.
Might be mad here, but looking for a trade for something else.... 4 month old Barefaced BigOne in mint condition + a lovely Eden WT800 amp. This rig rocks!
Slightly off topic maybe... but I'd be genuinely interested to know why you want to change your rig? Sounds like you have everything there - volume, tone and portability!
 19. Check out the solo from 1:48 onwards... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov2Z7LCIBqA
 20.
Well, the Compact is £450... not sure if that's in or near your budget...
A couple have gone for around £300 in the used section on here in the last few months.... seems very quiet at the moment though.
 21.
Sometimes though, the extra weight is worth it if you want that Trace sound!
Ah, but what is "that Trace sound"? With a 7/11/12 band graphic at the very least (not to mention various combinations of compressors, valves and so on...) the sound-shaping capabilities are enormous. So how can a whole range of amps/cabs/combos have "a sound"? Having said that, I know exactly what you mean! Is it all about suggestibility? Do we hear what we want/expect to hear?
 22.
Not better, different. Whether that different is better or worse for you only you can judge.
Sounds like agreement to me! That's the key isn't it. At the end of the day, it's the individual who pays the money that decides on what they want and why. There will always be others who say "you should have bought X or Y instead, and let me tell you why...". There is plenty of choice and if the purchaser like the choice they made and can live with it then surely that's enough. Just to clarify by further muddying the waters - I now possess two 2x15 cabinets. They sound (to me) totally different. Both are regarded as good quality items. Both are large, but quite different in shape. The speakers they contain have a diameter of fifteen inches (I assume, I haven't measured them) but there the similarity ends. Anyone who suggests that fifteens (or tens, twelves or whatever) have a "sound", should try making such a direct comparison. It was pretty enlightening! Problem is that I can't afford to keep both, so I need to decide which one I prefer the sound of! Apples and pears...
 23. In many cases, isn't it simply that people prefer what they are used to? Anything that sounds different - even if it is technically "better" - sounds "wrong" to their ears?
