1. I would totally agree with the above! I've played in some very loud bands, and never had even a TE AH250 up to anywhere near approaching "full" power or output into 4 ohms... It's great to have a powerful amp for reasons of headroom and the ability to get volume out of cabs with low sensitivity, but in reality who actually needs such volume potential except in stupidly loud rehearsals? BTW, the 1x15 looks a lovely cab at a great price, but I really want 8 ohm cabs as I like to use two at once! Good luck with the sale though.
 2. Does your amp run down to 2 ohms? I make the combined impedance of the two cabs less than 3 ohms.... Must admit, I miss my old SVT15...
 3. I like loud, but of course you can be too loud. The playing pissed isn't a good sign either...
 4. Actually, we've just bought a load of Ikea furniture and still have most of the cardboard and polystyrene! Would you be able to collect it from West Moor?
 5. As long as they are the same or similar gauge as the ones that are one there... if not, you might need to tweak the action/truss rod etc... They're your basses - do what you like with them!
 6. So how come with all that gear, his sound is essentially the same for every track?
 7.
Yeah, quite a suprise when it's Larry who picks up the 'phone too and not a secretary etc!
Slightly OT... but how do you actually pronounce his surname? Is it Hart-kuh? Hart-key? I ask simply out of interest...
 8.
My current financial situation does not alow me to get a barefaced cab for a couple of months but i need a cab to play.
So what actually is your budget?
 9.
He is into metal and wants an active bass with more tonal options.
Has he ever heard of er... Steve Harris? Whereaboots are ya?
 10.
Would anybody believe me if I said that (COMPLETELY out of the blue) I sold my Badass II off my Marcus Miller for £135 a while ago? It was open to bidding and it went sky high, much to my complete amazement. AND I got paid too!
Why are there never any people like that around when I put anything on Ebay?
 11. I've always found Squier basses to be pretty decent, so is there something wrong with it? What does he have in mind as "something better"? I may be interested in this one...
 12.
The cab is the difficult one to move...
Hmmm. That looks like the exact model cab I used to have. Heavy as a bugger but great tone.... I got rid of it because it was too heavy, but I've not been able to get the same depth of tone out of the Ashdowns... I'm in Newcastle... £100 is a great price... Thanks for placing this dilemma in my path. Not!
 13.
No. I am challenging common assumption and causing debate for the sake of future enlightenment of, and thereby furthering the cause of, the creative bassist who feels dictated to and in thrall to celebrated bassists who adopt the attitude that because they are celebrated must mean they are doing everything right and therefore so must everyone else. It's all perfectly straightforward really.
Oh. That's all right then!
 14.
So, what's the point of Tony's words above? Great though he is.
Are you maybe reading a bit too much into this?
 15.
Don't worry. Just play what you want to play, the way you want to play it.
This.
 16. QotSA - No one knows? Queen - Another one bites the dust?

 19. I'm sure there will be lots of suggestions for very expensive gear, but if your budget is important and you don't need many features, and likem a clean but powerful sound - you can't go far wrong with the Hartle LH series (500 or 1000). Cabs wise, there seems to be a lot more choice in some ways, and it could be argued that these will have a greater effect on your overall sound... My own experience is limited in this field, but I'm sure others will be along soon to inform you better!
 20.
Don't get me wrong I'm just opening this up to debate, I already know what I am going to do.
Well tell us then!
 21.
The 500 is also double the weight of the OTB.
...and would look very silly indeed perched on top of a midget. Er.....
 22. Aaw! My old cab.... how much did it go for Seb? Shame there doesn't seem to be much love for these as they sound great. They also have a lot more top-end response than people give them credit for... What do you make of the RS212?
 23. Hartke LH500 or LH1000? Certainly does the clean sound, and has a pre-amp valve... Not exactly over-burdened with "features" though... Oh, and it ain't smaller either. Just forget I said anything!
 24.
Like it or don't like it...come or don't come.. that is my attitude to the audience.
Again, I see your point. But I have to say that I would rather play to full houses, even if it meant slightly compromising on my sound/tone/set-up. Obviously not so much "compromise" that I no longer felt comfortable mind! I guess its a kind of professional pride thing isn't it. If every band member sorts out their own stuff, then the band will sound as good as it possibly could. But does that work in reality? If, for example, the drummer buys a new kit and there is some kind of frequency clash with the bass sound - who should change? Should he re-tune his kit or should I re-EQ my sound? Or should we both say "sod you, this is MY sound and I ain't changing it!"?
 25.
John Giblin played bass on Babooshka and the Annie Lennox one. Some more info about the basses and techniques he uses can be found here http://bashkov2.narod.ru/giblin.htm (about half way down).
Thanks for that Giblin link! I love his playing, but for some reason it's really difficult finding information about him....
