1. Stack them and buy a pair of platform soled boots!!
2. Is this the 4 ohm version?
3.
.....As I've still the Northern Compact sitting in my music room (probably not for much longer), I thought I'd take it along....Also, bearing in mind this cab has been around the block and back twenty times, it's still in very good nick. I've got no problems with the construction.
Any idea where it's off to next WoT? I'd love to give it a bash and I suspect I'm pretty local to you.... The Big One is the one I'm really interested in, but in terms of mass, sound and construction etc I could learn a lot from the Compact I suspect. Even if I could just borrow it for an evening... If that sounds like an option could you maybe PM me? Cheers!
4. Sorry, I still can't fathom how to embed youtube videos... Still - some great funky pick playing here... Bass player is listed as "Mick Ward". Nice player. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CY6vYnnkfaY
5. I've used Elite double-ball ends on my Status for donkey's years. Never had a problem with them. I've not tried the more expensive options simply because I've never felt the need to!!
6. Do the casters come off to stack the cabs? I can't see any recesses on the top of the cabs to accommodate the wheels...
7.
stick around you will learn loads and end up with lots of basses.
Heh heh! In my case I've got two LESS than when I joined!!
8.
i had a disc removed from my spine last year-wonder if the two are connected?
I suspect there may be a strong correlation there!!
9.
It's made of sterner stuff
Hell yeah! Made of anti-matter more like!!
10. Now sold. Thanks for the interest all those who enquired!
11. The 1x15 weighs HOW MUCH?? 85kg with only one speaker in it? What's it made of?!?
12. Martin Orford - The Old Road Great stuff - prog-tastic!!
13. Early-february type bump, and another price drop. What do I have to do to sell this bass?
14. At that price we should be making YOU a cuppa! Just too far away from me I'm afraid...
15.
I have a drummer mate who's joined a covers band where there is only the one way to play things - the guitarist's way
Funny how its usually guitarists who take this attitude... although I have experienced it to a lesser extent from singers too
16.
Bit of a side track. The "leader" is usually the person who can be arsed to do all the non playing work involved in playing in a band; organising gigs, rehearsals, PA's, set lists, audiences, marketing etc... Sometimes it's great to have all that done for you so you can just show up and play the gigs.... The pay-off is that sometimes bad decisions come with the good ones...
That's a bloody good point!!
17.
I’ll keep an eye out and ‘perhaps’ pick up a cheap fretless to try it, I hate trying things out in music shops with the assistant breathing down my neck .
You could buy mine! I defretted it, so if you wanted to re-fret it I guess it wouldn't be too expensive.... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=72579
18. Cort don't appear to manufacture a case to fit their slightly wacky Curbow basses! I have the 5 string version, which has a very small body for its size and a pointy headstock. Can anyone recommend a case or gigbag for such an instrument? I am not gigging much (or even at all) at the moment, and when I do I tend to take my own gear in the car - so heavy duty protection is not necessary. I don't want to have to spend too much (ideally under fifty quid). Opinions welcome!!
19. Jean-Jacques Burnel. Now THAT'S growl!!!
20. This makes me laugh! How do you compare a burp to a growl? A clank to a .... The Daryl Jones clip is great, and his sound is cool - but I would never describe that as a "growl". Much too smooth. To me, the "Jazz growl" (if there is such a thing) is typified by Geddy Lee's sound. But is that more "zingy" I wonder? A "nasal snort" even? Whatever a growl actually is, I'm damned sure that my Status doesn't have it!! It just shows how subjective sound is - in hearing it and in describing it!!
